FBC Music Fest - THIS SATURDAY!

A few fun facts you may not know about the FBC Music Fest…

FBC Client, Dietrich Fields, will be performing with his band War Room at 7PM.

FBC Employee, Briggs Cunningham, will be performing with his band, Ars Magna, at 10PM

FBC Board Member, Mike Armstrong, will be performing with his band, Echotribe, at 12AM

$10 tickets are available online, at FBC (talk to Briggs Cunningham, Alissa Rivera or Rainey Kasl) or for $12 at the door.

Here comes Peter Cottontail…
Our annual Beeping Egg Hunt is on Saturday, at 9am here at the FBC. 75 visually impaired children will hunt for eggs that beep. If you like smiling children and want to have a great time, come on down. It’s kinda like the White House Lawn egg hunt without the Secret Service.

Every little thing she does is magic
Dr. Lisa Chiles saw a 12 year old student this morning who was about to request large print textbooks and technology because she had 20/400 vision. 20/400 vision is only being able to see the big “E” on an eye chart. Dr. Chiles was able to correct her vision to 20/40. With 20/40 vision, this 12 year old will be able to read normal text, run track and drive in a few years. We create magic every day.

Laura Dozer Village worked great as a function site; all of our guests got to experience low vision simulation; and we raised over $14,000! A huge shout out to Pam Stelzer and Lisa Ashton for throwing another great party; to Spinato's Pizzaria for providing all the incredible food (please show them your patronage); to Andy McCain of Hensley & Co. and Trish Hart from Arizona Food Marketing Alliance and Miller/Coors for the adult beverages; Paradise Bakery and Personal Touch Catering desserts; and to all the volunteers, Board Members and friends who made it a fun evening.

Going International
8 blind climbers climbing Kilimanjaro is bringing FBC a great number of new donors and attention from across the world. Check out Max Ashton’s and my interview on a radio show in Scotland (at 6:40 into the show). Guinness Book of World Records contacted us to document our records for the youngest blind climber and largest blind group to summit Kilimanjaro. The team is receiving donations on our Facebook pages from as far away as Switzerland. We have 24 team members raising funds for FBC programs. Stay tuned.

Paula and Simon Agree…
Scott McIntyre is in the final 36 on American Idol. Scott, who played at last year’s Night for Sight, called and asked us to rally the troops to vote for him when he sings in two weeks. We will let everyone know when to vote. Do you think he’ll charge us for Night for Sight next year?
