My friend Robyn Meierotto is the featured designer this week at Pixels and Company! That means you can grab her amazing digital designs for 25% off!! Here are some of her latest designs and a layout by me using her new Kraft patterns!

I received this fabulous little containers from Le Box Boutique Etsy a couple of weeks ago and had a chance this weekend to create with them.

Supplies needed: Biogradeable containers, twine, and straws from Le Box Boutique. Spray adhesive, glitter, patterned paper, circle punch, postal wrapping paper, glue gun, and fabric trim.

For this project I sprayed the container with adhesive and applied a liberal amount of glitter. When dry I added a piece of floral foam in the base of the container and topped it with shredded kraft paper. I tied some twine around the top of the container and added a sentiment to the front. To make the pinwheels I cut a 2x2 and 2.5x2.5 pieces of paper and constructed my pinwheels. With hot glue I add a piece of straw to the back of my pinwheel. I added some flair from my shop to the center of the pinwheel and pushed them into place into the floral foam!

The garland behind the project I also made using twine and alternating pieces of straws and circle punched paper!

The second project I used the same container. This time I tore pieces of postal wrapping paper and twisted them and then glued them to the container. I created the fabric flower in the center with trim and added a vintage milk cap to the center. Again, I placed a piece of floral foam and covered it with shredded kraft paper. Next, I took to straws and cut them to the size I wanted. With a sharp xacto knife I cut a small slit on both sides of the top of the straw to create a photo holder. I also created another pinwheel and decorated it with flair.

The second Easter basket is made from Le Box Boutique's Kraft Take Out Boxes! First I painted the outside of the box with Pink Chalkboard Paint so you will be able to write whatever sentiments you would like on the box. The handle is wrapped with Twine and I added a tag (also painted with chalkboard paint). You can use this tag over and over again by just wiping it clean and adding a name! I am not the greatest artist but this will come blank for you to decorate with chalk how you would like! It can be used for more than just Easter too!

I so LOVE Pinterest! What a great place for inspiration and ideas. If you are like me you pin a lot but never seem to get to recreate those ideas that I keep pinning! I have decided that I am going to try and not just "PIN" but "DO"! Here is one of my pins from a recent pinning session!

Painting sea shells!!!!!

I have collected a lot over my years of traveling and most of them are in jars and labelled as to what trip and what year I took that trip. I did have some extras and I did find a huge bag of shells at a second hand store for a $1! Here is how mine turned out!

This was a little glass bowl I had and I just filled it with a bit of white sand my spray painted shells, and a piece of twine!

This project I just used a glass cake stand, added some sand, shells, and a photo holder and photo. I love having little vignettes around my house that remind me of places I love and that I can change out quickly. I used Krylon Premium Silver Foil Metallic for these projects. I have to tell you that I am in love with this paint! The coverage is amazing. It only took one coat to make these beauties shine!!! This was such a fun and rewarding project and didn't cost much at all since I used things I had around my house already! I look forward to doing another Pinterest inspired project very soon!!!

Ok...so I really need to post about these two girls and spread the love! They are both incredible designers both traditionally and digitally! First off is my friend Robyn Meierotto. She has recently moved to Pixels and Company and boy is she rocking it there! I have always loved Robyn's style and you will be so in love with it too. She not only runs her own digital design company Pink Trike Designs and sells her gorgeous products at Pixels and Company but you can also find her designs in tangible form through My Minds Eye! This girl is SO talented. Today she has a new kit up for sale called "Lucky". Welcome to the Kiwi Lane Blog Hop! I had the great pleasure of using one their Mini Scallops template. They are great for scrapping, card making, and so many other projects. Here what I created with my Mini Scallops template:

I used the template to create my own background design on kraft paper. I simply used some colored pencils and my white Signo pen and traced the template. I also created the middle part of my page (the gray part) by tracing on just one side of the patterned paper and cutting. The yellow patterned paper was also traced, cut, and then folded on the bottom part of my photo. The fabric flower was also created by tracing with the template onto dyed fabric. I handstitched the bottom edge and then gathered the fabric to create the flower. I layered some cut pieces on the top of my photo as well.

I love incorporating fabric into my designs so I decided to make by next project made with my Kiwi Lane Template completely out of fabric! Here is my scallop bunting project.

I used the largest template from the Mini Scallop set and traced and cut them out of some thick duck cloth. Next, I cut each "scallop" out into individual pieces. Using my sewing machine and some clear thread I began sewing each individual scallop, leaving a small space in between each scallop and also allowing some extra on the end to hang the banner when finished. It turned out so cute and you can never have enough bunting in your home! This would work greate for a little ones birthday or any holiday! I kept mine pretty simple but you could embellish the bunting as well.

This year instead of getting each other a lot of gifts we decided to rent a home (Red Elk Lodge) in Branson, Mo. My family is from Omaha and I am from Iowa City so it was about a 7 hour trip for all of us. We had a great time playing games, relaxing, gaming, visiting, eating, goint into town, cooking, and just hanging out. There was timber to explore, a fire pit for marshmallows at night and a huge wrap around deck where we drank coffee, read books, listened to music, watched bald eagles, and just enjoyed the peace and quiet. Really it was one of the most relaxing Christmas vacations ever. No places to be, no need to know what time it was. Best of all there was Wi-fi so we could play on our computers and Ipads! Here are a few shots from out time. We all headed home on Christmas Day and my parents headed to Texas where they  live in the Winter. I would highly reccommend this place! Now it's back to reality!     

I can't believe he is 21!! Where has time gone? I am so proud of this boy. When he was diganosed with Autism at age 3 and was completely nonverbal I wondered what would become of my sweet boy. Well..he is an amazing young man. I am so proud of all that he has accomplished and it would not have been possible without all the wonderful family, teachers, and friends who have helped him along the way. I am so proud of the young man he is today and I look forward to seeing what he will accomplish in the days ahead! I love you Jordy!

I love her "Vintage Holiday" line and her is a little something I created recently using some elements from that kit and my Silhouette!

I have had a lot of questions about how to make the photo strip for this photo ornament.

First I will tell you that I used Photo Shop but I am sure that any photo editing software would work.

1) Make a 6x4 template (make a larger one if you want to make a larger photo ball) 6 width and 4 height.

2) Next, choose your photos. I chose all vertical pictures for mine.

3) Resize your photos to 1.5 inch Height and 1 inch width. Make sure the resolution is 300 dpi.

4) Drag your photos onto your 6x4 template and line them up horizontally from left to right.

5) Once you have them lined up running horizontally on the template,I just (while holding my alt key down) chose them all, linked them and then duplicated them to make more rows . That's the fast way. Otherwise you can just continue to drag the photos to make all rows that will be your photo strips.

6) Once I had my rows of strips I saved it as a jpeg, printed it as a 6x4 landscape photo and then cut my strips.

I hope that helps for those of you having questions about how to do it. Again, if you want a larger photo ornament, make your template a 10x8 or whatever size you want to work with that is larger than a 6x4. If you are looking for the original tutorial you will find it HERE.

I had the pleasure of reviewing Lawn Fawn's new Dewey Decimal paper and embellishment line as well as their stamps. Wow, what greate products. Head over to The Scrap Review to see the review, what I made, and a chance to win the Dewey Decimal Set and stamps!

Is it Friday already!!?? I am so happy to share another free file I created over at The Scrap Review!!! You are going to love it! Look at this fabulous card by Ashley Harris! I love the chevron she has peeking throught! SO CUTE!!! Head on over and grab this freebie!

I went wild with my Silhouette for this project! I couldn't help it though! There are SO many cool and wonderful files to use. For this project I used the File Folder (#11083) from the Silhouette America store. I am obsessed with the lines "Everyday Eclectic" and "This and That: Charming" by Echo Park  that I used it to make my entire album!

I loved that by sealing off one end with woodgrain washi tape and binding it with my Bind-it-all I could create an mini album with pockets. I did all my journaling and added extra photos on pieces of cardstock and then slipped them into the pockets. I also had fun experimenting with placing a title on the folder file to create my front page out of the first pocket.

Here I used a font in my library to create the USA image and then hand stitched our route this Summer!

Since I went with the pocket theme I added this 4x6 Life library pocket (#25496) to hold more photos and journaling. I really love this file! Of course I had to add some flair! :)

Another favorite this Today 4x6 Life card (#27113). So versatile and you get three different files to use! 

I had to add some Hambly in there! I having been stockpiling that stuff as they are no longer making these overlays. :( Another one of my favorites is this adorable Today tab and heart tab created by Daniela Dobson. You can actually grab it for free over at The Scrap Review. We give away a free file every Friday! Daniela's files are all so cute and can be used in a lot of different ways and in so many different projects!

This weekend was the Special Olympics Golf Tournament here for us. Jordan and I participated as a team for the event. As you can see from his happy expression he won the GOLD!

It has been a long time since I have scrapped....just for fun. Yesterday while the kids are still away and all the button orders are up-to-date I decided it would be a great time just to create. I had found this adorable photo holder at a thrift store not too long ago and thought it would be perfect to house a little accordian mini album. Since I have some Instagram photos from our vacation I have been dying to use I figured this would be the perfect project. Here are some shots! Of course I used my beloved Silhouette and more of the lovely paper by Echo Park by Lori Whitlock. Since the photo holder is metal it was perfect to put a custom flair button created by me onto the front of the holder with a magnet! The files I used for this project is from Daniela Dobson and will be available next Friday at The Scrap Review!

I am very happy with how it turned out and I can place it anywhere in my home. It will be a great reminder of what a fabulous time we had on our vacation this Summer! Thanks for stopping by!

Last night Erica emailed me this incredible idea by Jennifer Ciriano! She took the Spinner Rack by Harbor Freight...added a magnetic strip arount the edge of it....covered it with beloved washi tape....and then added her flair! How brilliant is that! Now her flair is at her fingertips and she can visually see all her flair and know what she has to work with!What a fab idea Jennifer! Oh by the way...I just bought my own spinner online because I must have that storage and you know I am going to lift this incredible idea! It has been a whirlwind of a month. It started out with my daughter being taken to the ER via ambulance, revisiting said ER at the end of the month, and having surgery last week. She is doing better and it will just take time to heal. July was also the time my boys and I went on a 12 day trip down South with my folks for our annual trip! Here are some photos from that.

It was also the time that I decided to step down from my beloved Design Team Maya Road. This one was a very difficult decision to make. I have been with Caroline, David, and Lisa for 6 glorious years. But with my flair business as busy as it has been and just everyday life stuff I couldn't keep up. I wasn't able to give them 100% and that is just not me. I am so thankful to all of the team for their kind words and support. It has meant so much to me to be a part of that family and I am going to miss it dearly. However, I am a Roadie for Life!

This month was also the time we celebrated my youngest child's birthday as I get ready to send him off to college in three weeks (sniff...snifff). It will be very quiet and different with just Jordan and myself. But I know we will all adjust and make the most of this time in our lives.

The button business is doing well and I am so grateful for the support and business that everyone has shown to my little flair shop! It has really been a bright spot in my life and I enjoy making things that people love and want! I hope that August will slow down a bit and there will be no major crisis in the days ahead. I have had my fill and am ready to enjoy this new chapter of my life. I hope you all have had a great Summer and I look forward to my next trip.....I do so live for those you know! :)

I can't believe we are half way through June! Where has this month gone!? I have really been enjoying my guest designing time at NoelMignon.com and using her amazing "Summer Wind" kit. For this week I decided to alter an old film holder! I found a bunch of these at a local second hand store and grabbed them all!! Right Mom (she was with me when I found them)! I liked that it offered some dimension and depth to my project. The photo is from one of my favorite beaches Rialto Beach, Washington. I am hoping to take my daughter there and to many more of my favorite spots along the Washington-Oregon coastline next Summer. Anyway, head on over to NoelMignon.com to see the rest of the project. I am literally just coming up for air...for a bit! The last month as truly been a blur! It's been a happy blur but a stressful, busy blur! The best part of this time is that my "baby" graduated from Regina High School at the end of May. I can't believe my kids are old enough for this to be so!! I am so happy for him and he starts orientation at the University of Iowa this week. We so enjoyed having family and friend celebrate this very special time with us!

I MADE him do this last one! I made all three of my kids do it!! Hee hee! Thanks to everyone for your support and friendship over the past 16 years. It has not been an easy one as a single mom but we did it! I coudn't be more proud to reach this milestone.

On top of graduation plans, party, family, work, and just life in general my flair button business has just been booming!! Now if I could just find the time to get all my CHA projects done before we leave for a two week vacation in July!!!! I seriously need more hours in the day or maybe a clone! Since I won't get either of those I better get off this computer and get working!

In 5 days my baby is done with High School. In two weeks he graduates! I can't believe that time has come! I am so excited for him and all that he has to look forward to. Kirk will be going to the University of Iowa with a PreMed major this Fall. Here are just a few shots of my handsome boy! I am so proud of you Kirk!

A smart and cool way to organize your Washi tap for Meredith at escape2create! I am so doing this! All my washi tape is just sitting in a mason jar. This is just so cute!

And look at this awesome way to sort all those little embellishments! I used muffin tins but I never thought to paint it with chalkboard paint and then write on it!!! Annette did and it's a brilliant idea that I am going to "lift"!

This Saturday was my youngest son's Senior Prom! I can't believe how fast time goes by! I swear he just started kindergarten a couple of years ago. I enjoyed seeing all the kids dressed up and was so excited for them all. Graduation is just a short month away. Another milestone I can't believe we are getting ready to celebrate! Anyway I am happy to share a few pics from last evening! My boy is so handsome...and such a good kid!
