Hello Freshman Parents and welcome to Marching Band Fitting and Concert Wear Fitting Days 2013 - 2014!!!

We know this is a lot of information in a very short time for you to absorb, so please feel free to ask questions by email to Cathy at cschwanebeck@sbcglobal.net or Kim at justintme1@hotmail.com and we will do our best to respond to you prior to the first night of Marching Band/Concert Wear fitting days to put your minds at ease. We are here to help soften the blow!

The upcoming Marching Band and Concert Wear Fitting Days will be August 12 - 15th from 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm and August 21st from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. (Fittings during Marching Band Camp will be August 13 - 15 AND August 21)

During Band Camp we measure and fit all of the kids for their St Charles North Concert Wear (Boys and Girls) which includes Concert Dress for all music programs (Band, Choir, Orchestra) except Jazz Band and Vocal Jazz (Attire will be addressed later with directors).

The attire for concerts is as follows:

Girls - Black North High School Concert gown (fit and purchase at fitting days) $60.00
Black closed toe shoes (purchase on own)
Black hose (purchase on own)

Garment Bag (new) $ 5.00

Boys - Black Tux Pants (fit and purchase at fitting days) $29.00
Black Tux Jacket (fit and purchase at fitting days) $58.00
White Tux Shirt (fit and purchase at fitting days) $16.00
Black Socks (purchase on own)
Tuxedo Buttons** (purchase at school store) $ 5.00
Bow Tie** (purchase at school store) $ 5.00

Garment Bag (New) $ 5.00

Black Socks (Optional purchase – can buy on own) $ 5.00

Marching Band Uniform fitting is also performed at this time. The Marching Band kids will need the following items which we hope to provide during fitting days:

Shoes (fit and purchase at fitting days) $24.00
Gloves** (Available in school store) $ 3.00* price estimated
Cap** (Available in school store) $15.00 * price estimated
Polo** (Available in school store) $28.00 * price estimated

(**We are actually looking at taking these items out of the school store and offering them during the fitting days to make this more convenient for everyone, more information to come.)

We also have flip folders, single pages and lyres for sale from Quinlan and Fabish during fitting days for those who need these items for marching band. Prices are usually less at this venue than purchasing by yourself at a local music store.

We do have a limited amount of gently used concert wear available and will sell these items at a considerable discount on a first come, first serve basis. Checks for these items are made out separately to Friends of Music.

Wondering how you can help? What can you do? We are also looking for volunteers to help on August 12, 13, 14, 15 and August 21st (if fitting day is needed) during band camp and would like to know if you are available to help one of or several of the days? If you are not available can you send in snacks, food and water for the volunteers who will be coming over right after work and not have a chance to eat dinner? Here is the list of areas where we need help:

Concert Wear - helping with processing the kids, marking down selected items ordered

Fittings & Sewing - help w/uniform fitting. Can you sew? It's really just tacking a hem...WE REALLY NEED YOU here...

Rain Coats - Help size, and number the rain coats

Hats - Help size and number the hats.

Check-in - handing out forms, having kids completely fill them out and keeping track of who has been through the area to be fitted.

Checkout/Data Entry - taking care of who's been there, administrative work, excel work

Shoe Sizing - new students need marching band shoes. Students who have grown need to replace their marching band shoes.

Spirit Wear Table - selling spirit wear for 2013/2014

Volunteer Table - explain volunteer opportunity to parents and recruit new volunteers to help at Friends of Music events.

Food Coordinator - Would you like to help us coordinate food for all of us? Or, would you like to bring in something to share? We are in need of someone to coordinate the food each day. Yes, Friends of Music usually provides dinner one of the nights, but we'd like to have dinner for all 3 nights.

Monday, 8/12 6-9:30 pm (with volunteers arriving at 5:45-ish)

Tuesday, 8/13 6-9:30 pm (with volunteers arriving at 5:45-ish)

Wed, 8/14 6-9:30 pm (with volunteers arriving at 5:45-ish)

Thurs, 8/15 6-9:30 pm (with volunteers arriving at 5:45-ish)

Wed, 8/21 6-9 pm (back up night if we need another day to complete the fittings)

1st Annual FOM Golf Outing!!

The Friends of Music are sponsoring our first ever golf outing! Join us on Wednesday June 5th at Bowes Creek. 1:00 start, "best ball" format. Prizes for lowest scoring foursome, longest drive, etc. (Flyer attached below). You can register as a foursome, or we'll help you make a foursome at the course.

Spring Gala Tuesday Night!

Don't miss the final performance of the year for the Bel Canto, Wind Ensemble, Chorale, and Chamber Orchestra. The Spring Gala is always a delight, complete with a pre-concert reception for ticket holders at 6:30, concert at 7:30, and post-concert reception for all performers and attenders!
