The Western Cape, including Paarl, provides some of South Africa’s best Chenin Blanc. Backsberg strive to capture, lemony crispness and green apple fruit flavours, whilst retaining an array of aromatic characters. This fantastic example has ripe fruit, tempered by finely balanced acidity to give a mouth filling, yet refreshing palate, which has a lingering finish.

Kanonkop undisputedly deserves its reputation as one of the top estates in South Africa. This Cabernet is vinified traditionally in open tanks with minimal fining and filtration.

Established in 1943, Robertson Winery is now one of the largest estates in South Africa boasting a hugely diverse terroir thus creating an exciting range of wine styles. A beautiful deep red in colour with a smooth full bodied style. A forwardly fruity body is enhanced by rich mulberry, plum and cassis fruits supported by subtle soft tannins.

This wine has a full, smooth palate with blackberry flavours and cigar-box aromas. The name commemorates John Xavier Merriman (1841 – 1926), who purchased a farm in 1892 which later became Rustenberg Wines. He was the last prime minister of the Cape Colony before the formation of the Union of South Africa in 1910.

From one of South Africa’s original wine farms comes this fruity, well-balanced and full bodied wine, distinguishable by its exotic mango and honey aromas. The palate has a core of tropical fruit flavours with hints of nuts and honey, the result of weekly lees stirring in a process called ‘battonage’, which allows for greater richness in the wine.

Vergelegen, and outspoken winemaker Andre Van Rensburg, are widely recognised for producing some of South Africa’s finest wines. This superb value Bordeaux blend displays excellent structure, balance and finely grained tannins.
