The towns of Ramon and San Isidro and Santiago City will be affected by an eight-hour power interruption tomorrow, May 24.

Lilibeth Gaydowen, North Luzon corporate communications and public affairs officer, said that the scheduled power interruption tomorrow will affect the three localities from 8 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Gaydowen said that the maintenance crew of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines will be conducting correction of equipment at the Santiago Sub-station.

She said that normal operations will immediately resume after maintenance work are completed.

Gaydowen advises the affected member consumers to take the necessary preparations and precautions for the scheduled power interruption. (PIA – Isabela)

The Department of Labor and Employment – Isabela Field office (DOLE-IFO) reported today that at least 266 job applicants during the May 1 job fair held at Santiago City were hired-on-the spot by local and overseas employment agencies.

Gerardo Nicolas, administrative officer and concurrent communications officer of DOLE-IFO, in a news release, said 263 were hired on the spot by local employment agencies while three were hired for overseas job.

Nicolas said there were 1,068 job applicants who flocked in on Wednesday’s job fair aiming to grab jobs both for local and for overseas.

He said there were 42 local employment agencies that joined the job fair which offered 1,457 local job vacancies while 19 overseas recruitment agencies offered 2,575 overseas job vacancies to the jobseekers.

He said that as of press time, there were 213 more applicants for local and overseas employment considered for final interview by the recruitment agencies.

DOLE 2 regional director Sixto Rodriguez said that the labor and employment department will continue to assist jobseekers to look for decent jobs in the region to help government solve the unemployment problem.

The theme for this year’s labor day is, “Manggagawang Pilipino : Handa sa Hamon ng Makabagong Panahon.” (PIA 2, Isabela)

The Commission on Elections – Santiago City has distributed voters information and instruction sheet (VIIS) to the voters in every barangay in the city.

The VIIS contains the information for voters where to vote and schools where to cast their votes. It also gives instruction to the voters where to locate in the Comelec website the sample ballot that will be used by voters and how to feed in the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machine after finishing and selecting candidates.

Lawyer Borris Banaoag, acting Santiago City election officer, said the VIIS is an important information and educational materials to enable the voters be easily guided when going to cast votes inside the polling precincts.

Banaoag said the casting of votes on the day of election starts at 7 a.m. of May 13, 2013 until 6 p.m. of the same day.

The election official urged voters to participate during the election to exercise their right to choose the future leaders in national and local positions.

Santiago City has thirty seven barangays and almost eighty thousand registered voters who will participate during the May 13 national and local elections. (PIA – Isabela)

The Department of Labor and Employment-Region 2 (DOLE-2) is set to conduct job fair and services caravan this May 1 at the City Hall of Santiago City as part of the nationwide celebration of the Labor Day,said DOLE Regional Director Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr.

“The theme for this year’s celebration is Manggagawang Pilipino, Handa sa Hamon ng Makabagong Panahon. This is timely because the new millennium is going global and our workers are not exempted on this,” Atty. Rodriguez added.

The job fair, which is a joint effort of DOLE 2 and LGU-Santiago City, is expected to be participated in by some 40 companies for local and overseas employment. The job seekers will try their luck in more than 1,200 job vacancies for local employment and at least 2,000 jobs for overseas employment.

A pre-registration is scheduled on April 29-30 at the Santiago City Hall. This is to facilitate job matching of qualified applicants with an employer and avoid congestion of job seekers at the registration area during the Job Fair.

Atty. Rodriguez advises applicants to bring credentials necessary for job applications such as Resume, Transcript of Records, Certificate of Trainings, ID pictures, NBI and or Police clearance, Certificates of Employment, and passport for those who intend to apply for overseas employment.

Aside from the Job Fair, the DOLE and its attached agencies namely the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Professional Regulations Commission (PRC), National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB), and the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) will conduct services caravan.
