2009 - Website (concept, art direction and lead design). Project at Fabrique

NOVA is a dutch political television program. It is critical, independent and impartial. Fabrique was asked to create their new website.

A rich website with a clear and fresh design is the result. There is a nice balance between content created by the editorial staff of NOVA and user generated content. To gain more insight into news we created a clever time line making connections between items easy and transparent. Take a look at this project

2008 - Website (concept, art direction and lead design). Project at Fabrique

TuneTribe is one of the biggest online music stores in the UK. Fabrique was asked to refresh the old site.

The result is an easy to use and clear website for music lovers of all genres. Visitors of the website can personalise their home page so that only their favorite music genres will be shown. It is also possible for visitors and employees of TuneTribe to create custom playlists. The site design is less important then that of the record covers on display, which gives the TuneTribe website its color.

2008 - Small identity and Weblog

Crazy Birds is a young and dynamic concept and communication studio based in Amsterdam. They wanted an identity reflecting their personality and a website to showcase their work.

I created a small and playful identity using birds as a metaphor for ideas. The website is a personal and daily updated weblog, read by clients, partners and other interested people. This creates a presence for Crazy Birds and makes the company feel personal and approachable. Take a look at this project

I Amsterdam is the city brand of Amsterdam, the capital city of The Netherlands. Amsterdam Partners asked Fabrique to come up with a total concept for I amsterdam.com, the number one website for visitors to Amsterdam and expats living there.

We created a fresh and easy to use city portal. Visitors ranging from tourists to business people can find everything they want to know about Amsterdam. They can also create their own personal ‘My Amsterdam’ city guide.

We created a playful experience which shows how easy it is to save money by taking action on standby energy consumption.
2006/2007 - Website (concept and design). Project at Studio Dumbar

C Broadcasting is a new Dutch Broadcasting Organization. Its founders Ad ‘s-Gravesande and Kees van Twist created C to fill an art and culture gap in the Dutch broadcasting market. It is aimed at a broad audience.

In order for C to get air-time it needs to attract people to become members. For this the website serves as the main channel. Like the logo, the website had to be fresh, full of energy, bold and inviting. Furthermore the website contains a cultural events and art calendar and a TV and radio guide containing programmes which could be broadcast by C.

2005 - Website (concept, design and flash programming). Project at Studio Dumbar

Han Nefkens is a Dutch Journalist and Art collector. His large art collection consists mostly of photographs and paintings. He wanted people to be able to view his entire art collection on one website; instead of only being able to see parts in different museums and exhibitions.

The website concept stems from the logo form which contains a ‘plus’ sign. This plus was used to build a grid system from which the entire website is constructed. The experience is like a trip to a museum; there are surprises in every room. The expanding and collapsing navigation is smooth and dynamic, adding to this experience, like opening and closing doors. People can access information about specific pieces by opening information panels however the intention is that the focus is largely on the artwork itself. Take a look at this project

KPN i-mode

2005 - Website and animation (concept, design and art direction). Project at Studio Dumbar

KPN, marketleader in the Dutch telecom/internet market, asked Studio Dumbar to create a new website for their mobile i-mode service.

Our task was to present i-mode in an understandable and credible way.

We created a website using Dutch photography and placing the services in a relevant environment. We created the ‘i-moments’, a series of engaging interactive photo animations showing the i-mode services in their actual environments, making it relevant for users. These stories explain the impact that i-mode can have on everyday life. There are three story lines that users can switch between. The i-menu on the i-mode handsets was also created as part of this project. Take a look at this project

2003 - Website (concept, design and flash programming). Project at Studio Dumbar

Marlies Dekkers is a ground breaking trend-setting Fashion Designer, who designs modern and sexy lingerie. Studio Dumbar was asked to revitalise her brand, this included an updateable website with multiple collections.

The core concepts of the Marlies Dekkers brand are excitement and seduction. They are translated through the design, animation and presentation of the website. The site serves as one of the labels main marketing tools, promoting collections, informing customers about news and fashion shows, and to link dealers in five countries. It boosted international brand awareness of Marlies Dekkers resulting in its sale in more than 500 retail outlets across The Netherlands.

Marliesdekkers.nl was nominated for the Rotterdam web identity award 2003. Take a look at this project

Graduation project

2002 - Interactive 3D environement. School project

As my graduation project studying Illustration I created an interactive 3D environment comparable to a computer game. As starting point I chose Homer’s Odyssey because the timelessness of its themes and its many layers appealed to me a great deal. One of it’s motifs in particular.

“The purpose of the journey is the traveling itself”

I chose a transparent and graphic look. Massive shapes are expressed as lines occasionally resulting in abstract and surprising patterns and images.

This project was nominated for the ‘Kunstanjer’ of the Prins Bernhard Culture Foundation Utrecht by the Illustration department of the Utrecht School of Arts. Take a look at this project
