Funny Story about my hand held Cuisinart mixer going turbo!

I was out the door early to babysit for my two younger grandchildren yesterday and then finished getting ready for my downline meeting last night so I haven't had time to get a project onto my blog.

But, I do have a really funny story to tell you.

Tuesday morning, Valentines, my daughter, Shelly, wanted to go into her son's kindergarten classroom to help with their Valentine partyl

I wanted to use Stampin' Up!'s new Cookie Press to make Valentine cookies with the two younger children while she was gone.

Soooooooooo, I got up at 5:30 a.m. to mix up the cookie dough. As I was mixng up the butter and eggs, my Cuisinart mixer's motor took off like a turbo jet! I have NEVER heard it go so fast. The lever on the top of the mixer had broken and I couldn't even shut it off!

So here I am......

I am trying to be quiet because it is so early in the morning....that's not happening!

I'm trying to mix up the dough for the cookies....but I've got this "jet engine" in my hand that won't turn off!...so that's not happening either!

I quickly realized that I would have to unplug the mixer from the wall. So I pulled out the plug.

However, I hadn't added the flour yet!

Have you ever thought about adding flour to a mixture with a mixer that is going at a turbo jet speed???!!!!

So, I added a little flour,

Plugged in the mixer.

Flour flew out of the pan. Some flour got mixed in. Unplugged the mixer!

Added a little more flour. Plugged in the mixer.

Flour flew out of the pan. Some flour got mixed in. Unplugged the mixer!

(You can't mix the flour in by hand because they are shortbread type cookies and the dough is a little stiffer.)

I'm still thinking about how noisy this jet turbo mixer is at 5:30 in the morning!

Yes, there is flour all over the counter.

I had to plug it in at least 5 or 6 times to get all of the flour into it!

It was kind of like a Laurel and Hardy situation only, I was trying to deal with it all by myself.

It was one of the funnier situations that I have run into on my own!

The cookies, by the way were FABULOUS! My cookie sheets in my daughter's oven produce cookies that you could easily sell!

Jeremey and Jaelyn had fun eating the dough and pressing the shapes down into the cookies.

Easter Chick Box Treat

This idea was inspired by Patty Bennett's post yesterday.

I know that I said I would share a tutorial for the box that I showed you yesterday. However, today I had to get ready for my local downline meeting tonight, so I worked on Easter ideas all day. So sorry about that!

So here is my little "Chick Box".

There is a quick tutorial for this after the first two pictures.

The finished size of this box is 2 1/2"long (the front) and 1 1/2" wide (the sides).

It's adorable, FAST, and just perfect for a co-worker's desk or a lot of other people who I can think of!

Here is the back.

Here is a quick tutorial followed by the supplies.

Cut out one Square Scallop using the Bigz Die. Score at "TWO SCALLOPS" in one direction.

Turn the square and score at "THREE SCALLOPS" in the other direction.

HOW YOU CUT THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!

Cut in from the sides that have the "THREE SCALLOPS". Cut from the edge up to the first score line . Cut in this manner on the two opposite sides of the scallop.

Then add Sticky Strip like this on two of the flaps at one end.

Adhere these flaps. Add more Sticky Strip like you see below. Then close up the box.

Make sure that you add the "CHICK" to the side where the flaps on the side are folded back from the front.. You want the front side to look smooth. I hope that makes sense!

Scallop Circle Card with Everyday Enchantment DSP: FREE during Sale-a-bration!

Since you saw the scallop circle card yesterday, today will be a perfect time to show you a new scallop circle that I just designed for a workshop that I am having at the end of the month. My hostess, Teri, comes to my classes and saw a gift idea that she wanted me to make at her workshop.

I just needed to redesign it using current colors. So I chose the FREE Sale-a-bration DSP, Everyday Enchantment.

So here is the card first.

This is made the same way as the card on my blog yesterdy. When you open it, the back side of the card is smooth so that you can easily write on it.

Card Stocks: Pool Party, Very Vanilla, and Everyday Enchantment, which is FREE during Sale-a-bration (SAB) with a $50 subtotal order.

Notes: For this card, just fold an 8 1/2"x 5 1/2" piece of Very Vanilla in half. Place it on the Scallop Circle Biz Die so that the folded part of the card is just a little under the top of the scallop. This way, when you run it through the die, the top of the card will not be cut and you will end up with a fold.

I was able to punch out ELEVEN 2 1/2" circles for 11 cards from one of the 12 x 12 pieces of the Everyday Enchantment DSP.

I'll give you a sneek preview of the gift card holder. I'll put a free tutorial on my blog on Thursday.

Pendant Park Birthday Card

I've made cards using this die and I've even made cards with the card opening like this on the fold. But I have never though about attaching it to a card front like this.

Easy Events Birthday CupCake

Reiko Sakata sent me this pretty birthday card made with the Easy Events Stamp Set.

This one is easy enough for a Stamp Club. The cutting would take a few minutes, but it would certainly be worth it! (I will prestamp the individual cupcakes for people to cut out.)

Button Buddies Snail: So Much Fun!

I want you show you the great idea, designed by Kim Wilson, that I traded for at Leadership using the snail from Button Buddies.

She used Paisley Petals DSP and Always Artichoke card stock.

As much as I love her colors, I decided that I was going to challenge myself to use some DSP that I have on hand!

So.......... I changed the colors fit the Big Top Birthday DSP.

We're making my version of Kim's card in my stamp clubs this week. Of course, you could chose from a variety of sayings.

I embossed the snails and I don't know if you can see the Polka Dots on the Real Red c/s at the bottom.

Note: I positioned the snail on a clear block so that all I had to do was position the clear block evenly with the bottom of the white c/s. All three snails were automatically lined up perfectly! Stamp the snail in the center first. Then stamp the snail to the left and to the right.

The Real Red strip and the Big top Birthday DSP strips are each 1" x 5 1/2". Place the Real Red strip first. DO NOT PRESS THE TOP DOWN FIRMLY UNTIL YOU SLIP THE DSP UNDERNEATH IT FIRST.

One more day of birthday fun for now!

Shelly and the kids took me out to lunch today.

Shelly and jaelyn.

Joshua, Jeremy, and Jaelyn each got a P & B sandwich that came with strawberries, orange slices and little cup of chocolate to dip them in!

Joshua decided to dip his P & B sandwich in the chocolate instead of the fruit!

Seriously, I would have not thought to do that:)

And Jeremy dipped his orange and strawberries into the chocolate.

And then everyone helped me blow out the candle and eat the delicious ice cream that the restaurant brought to help us celebrate! Maybe Jaelyn just came over to help me eat the ice cream:)

I didn't leave Glendale until 5:00 p.m. because Shelly and I went shopping at an amazing sale at Macy's. They had racks of clothes from 50-70% off and yes I got some new tops for my birthday! Thank you, Shelly!

I thought that it would take me at least an hour to get home at that time of day (It usually takes 20ish minutes!) But I was home in 30 minutes! Wow!!!

Anyway, when I got home at 5:30, this is what I found sitting on my counter from my son, Brad:

They are absolutely gorgeous!

Let the Party Begin!!!!

Today is my birthday, and we started celebrating last night!!!!

My dad, Otto, his friend, Olive, my son,Brad, and I out went out to eat at Chiles last night!

Birthdays are once a year, right!?! So a few birthday indulgences are allowed!!

Well, here they are!

Guacamole (I never get appetizers, because I fill up on them!)

Can you just IMAGINE how yummy this guacamole was?! Oh, my saliva glands are right now reliving it's goodness!!

And then, of course, we let the restaurant know that it was my birthday.

Hmmmmmmm???? I wonder what they will bring when they sing Happy Birthday?

Do I ever eat brownines?? Really, I never do! They are just too sweet for me.

You will notice however, that some of this brownie is missing, and no one else was having any!

It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious!!! (I did finish the ice cream. Brad helped me a little)

And today I am having lunch with my daughter and my three grandchildren. We are going to go shopping for some new clothes after lunch, so I will be having a salad. Can you even stand it! I am going to be so good!

Tonight is Stamp club so LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!!!!!

This is going to be a fun day and a fun week!!

Happy Birthday Penguin: Alternative Colors

Recently I posted a favorite idea from my Leadership Trades created by Karen Duke.

I want my Stamp Clubs to be able to make ithis card this week, but I don't have enough Concord Crush DSP for everyone. So I decided to see if I could find an alternate color scheme that also pops!

Here is Karen's card, which I love!

And here is my card with new color scheme with Tempting Turquoise, Sahara Sand and Black.

I don't have the cute Party This Way Sale-a-Bration set that Karen used so I subsituted something that I had.

Notes: I mounted the owl and the balloons with dimensionals. I drew the balloon strings in by hand. The little black part of the eyes is from the owl punch. I put them through the Xyron machine before i attached them. Punch the owl a second time to get the Pumpkin feet. The black c/s in the center of the card is 3" wide by 3 3/4" long.

Who knows! Maybe you'll come up with yet another cute color combination for this design!!
