This is really cool ... the only problem I had was that I would have to save the “post.html” pane AND refresh the “Preview” pane to be able to see the changes.

If you replace element[removed] = req.responseText; with element[removed] = req.responseText.replace(/\n/g,"<br>"); in the include.js you won’t have to use a pre-Tag to preserve the newline behavior of most CMS systems. Thus you can insert the code into the Template without having to style the pre-Tag to fit your needs.

I for example use this with a <p id="postinclude"> then :)

Hi Sam, let me tell you how interesting is your technique. However, I would like to present you some changes I have brought to your solution:

First, I applied position: relative; to the li element insted of the ul one.

Second, I have deleted the property overflow: hidden; because now the height of the a element is exactly equal to that of the li element.

I came up with these little changes because I was wondering why Veerle still continued using her technique with line breaks. I think she wanted to keep links accessible to people who use the Tab key to move from a link to another on the same page. This is made possible by giving a border to the property outline.

These little changes allow us continue using the outline property without degrading the visual aspect when using the Tab key, as the a element dosen’t overhang anymore because it fits exactly the dimensions of the li element.

I hope this was of some help and would love to have your opinion on it. :p

I’ve tried Coda a few times in the past and didn’t like it for various reasons. Maybe it’s time to give it another try. Especially after the HUGE disappointment that is DreamWeaver CS4. Did they do ANYTHING other than change the icon?

Ahh ok, did not test against NTFS. Since OSX doesn’t write to NTFS, the above will indeed not work… however can see most users opting for FAT (since OSX reads AND writes to FAT), so hopefully this will save them some steps.

Imagine if you’ve already installed MacFUSE or similar OSX - NTFS enabler, it _should_ work (but totally have not tried).
