New Course - Professional Gardening Diploma

In response to industry demand, SAC is launching a brand new, two-year course designed for a new generation of head gardeners. The Diploma in Professional Gardening will combine the theoretical knowledge of a Higher National Certificate in Horticulture with wide practical experience and equip its graduates with skills that are very much in demand.

A New Scholarship For Countryside Management students

Countryside Management students in Aberdeen can take advantage of a new scholarship. It has been very generously funded by Ms Margaret Carlaw an ex-Countryside Management student, educationalist, author and farmer.

SAC had some books it no longer needed and Hargasia High School in Somalia had a brand new library but lots of empty shelves. At least they were, but no longer, thanks to the efforts of HNC Poultry Production Student Mohammed Hersi.

SAC is hoping that the sun shines this summer as it plans the various outdoor events it will be attending over the next few months – as there is nothing worse that wearing wellies and wading through mud in July!!!.

The staff and students at the three SAC campuses again participated in Comic Relief this year with £3800 raised to date (and money still coming in).

Former Student Focus

Margaret Hazle graduated in 2005 and is now undertaking a Technologist Training Programme with Invitrogen Bioreliance. After a period working on cell culture she is now based in the Molecular Biology department.

Taster Days

Successful Taster Days were held at all three of SAC’s campuses this March, with a wide range of attendees and activities at each.

Schools Vouchers

Again this year, SAC staff are being asked to say ‘yes’ as they pass through the checkouts at two of the big supermarkets. The collection of the vouchers has become a tradition with staff participating for around 5 years with numerous local schools benefiting.
