The University of the West of Scotland’s £70 million Ayr Campus came one step closer with the official turf cutting ceremony at the new campus site. SAC Principal, Professor Bill McKelvey did the spade work, along with the Principal and Vice Chancellor of University of the West of Scotland (UWS), Professor Seamus McDaid and Provost Winifrid Sloan of South Ayrshire Council.

Holyrood Park by way of Knoydart may not seem the most direct route to success but for a group of SAC students and staff it proved very rewarding. They are all recipients of John Muir Discovery Awards. The awards were earned on a field trip to Knoydart on the west coast of Scotland, where the group lived on the peninsula for four days.

Well-respected SAC organics specialist and teacher Dr Norman Stephen is the first recipient of a new award. At SAC’s graduation ceremony in the Bute Hall of the University of Glasgow Norman Stephen was presented with the Principal's Lifetime Achievement Award in Teaching. It is awarded by SAC Chief Executive and Principal Bill McKelvey to staff who have excelled as effective leaders and promoted collaborative working.
