SAC Vice Chairman Donald Biggar will use the lessons learned from his own bitter experience in dealing with cattle disease to help others when he hosts a farmers open day at Corbieton Farm, Haugh of Urr on Tuesday, 10th November. Together with leading SAC production and health experts as well as local vets they will address issues surrounding BVD (Bovine Viral Diarrhoea) and Johne's Disease.

SAC's Climate Change Challenge For Scottish Farmers

SAC is looking for three farmers willing to take on the challenge of climate change. The Scottish Government is funding a three-year project to demonstrate how farming can play its part in climate change mitigation measures. It is part of the Farming for a Better Climate Initiative funded through the Veterinary and Advisory Services (VAS) Programme and worth over £300,000.

SAC has appointed Jonathan Cowens as Director of SAC Consulting. He takes up his post in January when he will be responsible for the division of SAC which includes the 25 Farm Business Service offices, 8 Veterinary Disease Surveillance Centres and SAC Specialist Services.
