Clear your walks and cars

Please take the time to clear your sidewalk, not only is it the considerate thing to do you are required by city law. If you do it now while the snow is nice and light it’s much easier than when it starts to melt. Something else to consider , the Snow Gods will smile upon you if give a neighbor a hand.

Clear the snow on sidewalks adjacent to your property within 6 hours of snow stopping or by 11 a.m. the next day if snow continues to fall through the night.

Don’t forget your car either. If you are driving around please take the time to clear off the top of your car, headlights, and taillights. The snow on your roof can come flying off unexpectedly and cause problems for those behind you.

Amour Wine Bistro giving back to firefighters who saved restaurant

The quick work of the Richmond Fire Department saved Amour Wine Bistro from major damage after a fire started in the restaurant's kitchen last year. Now, the Carytown restaurant is looking to give back.

On February 24th and 25th, owner Paul Heitz is organizing a special dinner, 'Merci les Pompiers,' or 'Thank You Firefighters' in English.

Both evenings, 15% of the night's sales will be donated to the Richmond Fire Department's 'Beat the Heat' scholarship fund.

The Fund provides scholarships to students enrolled in an accredited college, university, vocational, or technical school who are dependents of any current sworn Richmond firefighter or firefighter who has died in the line of duty.

"...Amour Wine Bistro will invite some of the firefighters for dinner who came the night of the fire, as well as Chief Robert Baumgardner," said Heitz. "Please come meet these amazing people and share a meal with them."

"We all need to thank the Richmond Firefighters for the excellent job they do to protect us," he continued.

Donations will be accepted and given in addition to the 15% proceeds share.

I’m not sure what to say about this video other than, things are getting weird up in Stratford Hills.

The Fan is the Williamsburg of Richmond and Oregon Hill its Bushwick

At first glance your mind might race to good olde colonial Williamsburg but no, we’re talking about New York City. Gawker answers a question that I didn’t even know needed to be asked .

What is your city’s Williamsburg? What’s its hippest—or formerly hippest—or sometimes just youngest—neighborhood, the one with the art galleries and the boutiques and the lines for brunch? (And what, for that matter, is its Bushwick, or “Next Williamsburg”?) If you don’t know off the top of your head, don’t worry. We do, thanks to the collective knowledge of Gawker readers.

The whole thing is really ridiculous once you look at the data (see below) they’re basing their decision on. The numbers you see are the total number of votes received by Gawker. So the correct headline should read. Five out of seventeen think The Fan is the Williamsburg of Richmond.

Conclusion: Don’t believe everything you read on Gawker.
