On Friday I was delighted to take part in Zak’s photographers of Liverpool project. Zak is a real talent of portrait photography and I was honoured to take part in this project. Even if I do look a bit rough! Haha.

Artist Wuon Gean working at the Bluecoat Gallery Liverpool.

Artist Wuon Gean has been resident at the Bluecoat gallery for the past two weeks. She has been working on the theme of dreaming, conscious and sub conscious. Yesterday I helped her animate her drawings. Best to watch in HD.

Yesterday was one of those great summer moments. When the sun hits the city streets there is a real great atmosphere. Yesterday the light was perfect for street photography.

Homeless man begs on the Millennium bridge facing St Paul's.

I was in London last weekend and this image was probably my strongest.

This homeless cripple is sitting on the Millennium bridge facing St Paul’s cathedral. He faces towards ‘the city’ and the worlds richest capital. While behind sits the Tate Modern. Full of the worlds most expensive scribblings and paper mache.

People walk towards him. They don’t even notice him. They are looking at me.

I’ve returned from a couple of weeks exploring and documenting the historic Cypriot city of Paphos. Famed for its world heritage status and mythical legends. I’m currently processing my way through a few thousand images… trying to select the best few for presentation and reportage. There’s quite a few themes which have come out of the trip and I will be sharing them here as and when ready. Call back soon for updates.

Phil the Bold Street busker.

Bold Street Liverpool has taken the brunt of the new L1 development… cafes shutting up, florescent posters of the closing down sales and small businesses struggling to survive. One thing that remains defiant and upbeat are the Buskers of Bold Street. I want to make a reportage series of images profiling the street performers of Liverpool. There is a wide variety of talent and people all with great stories to tell.

My first subject is Phil who is a traveller and I found him at the top of Bold Street playing a penny whistle.

Phil told me about how he used to play in a punk band. He played bass and he and his band toured around Germany with their traveling community. They plaid at lots of traveller festivals and German punk pubs. Phil had very interesting ink on his hands which are very common in Liverpool from sailors to grafters.

Phil had mostly prison tattoos but also a few religious and traveller marks in there. I liked the contrast of his ink, hand and pipe which on their own tell a life story.
