Having recently bought a WDTV HD Live to replace my Xbox (with XBMC) I decided to look into setting up a UPnP service on my Ubuntu headless server.
After reading around a bit, I firstly tried uShare but didn’t find it very flexible. I finally settled on MediaTomb as I liked the look of the JavaScript [...]

For Christmas (2009) I was given a pair of Max Value 200Mbps HomePlug units, presumably from Amazon. Out of the box they worked, and still do, perfectly. I was so impressed by them, I quickly ordered another pair from Amazon within a few weeks, and this is where my problem began.

The first pair, lets call [...]

This didn’t work for me though (may be my disc is a bit date, or maybe it doesn’t support grub 2 just yet). Instead I booted up using [...]

Over the last few weeks checkgmail has not been working. This is quite common given Google probably changing things around. So it has happened in the past, and requires and update to be pushed out. Unfortunately, via the repositories this is quite a slow affair. There is a quicker solution though…

I’ve recently installed Windows 7 RC x64, but being primarily a Linux user I want to be able to use EXT3/EXT4 with Windows. Here are a few simple steps and requirements to get it working.
Preparation
I’m using Windows 7 x64 so have two options of either with using EXT2IFS (which I generally prefer as it’s a [...]

Problems
EXT4 is soon to become the default file system in Ubuntu once 9.10 (Karmic) has been released. I’ve already been using it, but have stumbled across a few problems:

Reverting – I moved all of my backups and vast amounts of data across into EXT4 partitions. I have since been having a few problems with Ubuntu [...]

If you’re working in an Agile environment, chances are you’re working from a continuously integrated source control system, with a trunk, branches etc… If that’s the case many people will be familiar with “the build” being broken (typically the trunk) which can bring development (and sometimes testing) to a grinding halt.
