On August 25, 2004, I posted photos of "massive, magical octopus kites on a beautiful day in Cesar Chavez Park at the Berkeley Marina." Little did I know that seven summers later, I would be living close enough to make a day of it.

unusual accoutrements at the california academy of sciences

It's raining in the Bay Area (with only trace amounts of radiation), so why not head to a museum? Above, the California Academy of Sciences.

I haven't posted these as quickly as I might of otherwise due to the recent quake/tsunami/nuclear threat that's been happening in Japan, one of my absolute favorite places to take photographs. It's been just heartbreaking to witness the aftermath.

after a five month hiatus: starting up the engines...

International moves are challenging and draining... this was my third in five years. And just like my last two international moves, it sort of stalls the photoblog for a bit. Though I chronicled our transition on Flickr some, it's been silent here. In fact, in two days, it would have been five months since I posted on this site. Too long.

Today also happens to be day that my second kiddo, Clementine (seen above with her Dad), will be three months old. So it seemed like a good day to start posting again. If you happen to be reading this, perhaps via RSS or Twitter, thanks for sticking with me.

Above, a very brief summary of our last few weeks in California, post-move/post-baby. We are now settled in Oakland and are enjoying it, Berkeley, San Francisco, and the surrounding areas thus far. Now to get myself out shooting...
