On Nov. 2, the Congressional Budget Office estimated what the plan will likely cost you personally. An individual earning $44,000 before taxes who purchases his own insurance will have to pay a $5,300 premium and an estimated $2,000 in out-of-pocket expenses, for a total of $7,300 a year, which is 17% of his pre-tax income. A family earning $102,100 a year before taxes will have to pay a $15,000 premium plus an estimated $5,300 out-of-pocket, for a $20,300 total, or 20% of its pre-tax income. Individuals and families earning less than these amounts will be eligible for subsidies paid directly to their insurer.

• Sec. 399V (p. 1422) of the bill provides for grants to community “entities” like ACORN, with no required qualifications except having “documented community activity and experience with community healthcare workers” to “educate, guide, and provide experiential learning opportunities” aimed at drug abuse, poor nutrition, smoking and obesity. “Each community health worker program receiving funds under the grant will provide services in the cultural context most appropriate for the individual served by the program.”

The lone Republican who voted for the bill was Anh “Joseph” Quang Cao, a Representative from Louisiana; born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. 39 Democrats joined the Republicans in voting NO.

The Stupak amendment, tightening up prohibitions on federal funding for abortions in the bill passed with no problem. The problem? It may just be a shell game. Pelosi has promised that the language WON’T be in the compromise bill that gets hammered out with the Senate. Tax-cheat Charlie Rangel danced all around the issue when John Boehner confronted him; Rangel was trying his hardest to look ethical. What a freaking joke.

The battle is not over. Now, more than ever, your calls and emails are critical. Gear up and plug in like you never have in your lives. Target the Democrats who voted “Yes”, support those who voted “No”, and encourage them to stand their ground. The future of generations depends upon it.

The CBO and the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation estimate that the Republican plan would reduce federal deficits by $68 billion over the 2010-2019 period; it would also slightly reduce federal budget deficits in the following decade, relative to those projected under current law, with a total effect during that decade that is in a broad range between zero and one-quarter percent of gross domestic product.

The inflated job counts are reportedly the result of the administration instructing local community agencies that received money to count the raises as “jobs saved”.

Disclotheth the AP:

Most of the inflated figures were like those cited in the 935 saved jobs reported by the Southwest Georgia Community Action in Moultrie, Ga. The agency, like hundreds of others collecting Head Start money, claimed all its existing employees’ jobs were saved because they received a pay raise with the stimulus cash.

Similar claims led to overstating by more than 9,300 the number of jobs saved with more than $323 million in stimulus money distributed by the Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families, the AP’s review found.

More than 250 other community agencies in the U.S. similarly reported saving jobs when using the money to give pay raises, pay for training and continuing education, extend employee work hours or buy equipment, according to their spending reports.

The Georgia program inflated the numbers even further by claiming the recovery money saved more jobs than the number of people it actually employs. The agency employs 508 people but claimed 935 jobs were saved because of confusion over government reports.

HHS spokesman Luis Rosero hilariously defends the practice saying:

“If I give you a raise, it is going to save a portion of your job.”

Huh? Does that even make sense? Does a raise save the rest of your job too, or are you now considered a part-time worker? Is your job saved for life? Does anyone even get raises these days? (Put your hands down, Goldman Sachs.)

Obamanomics. We do not discriminate against the math-impaired.

Wow, what a night for conservatives in Virginia, New Jersey, AND New York! Yes, Doug Hoffman’s close loss in NY-23 is still a big, big victory…the man came out of nowhere to shove turncoat Republican Dede Scozzafava out of the race, and give Democrat Bill Owens a serious run for his money. Had Scozzafava not still been on the ballot, Hoffman would have probably won. NY-23 sends a HUGE message to the GOP: You Can’t Win Without Conservatives.

In Virginia, for the second time in history, the GOP took ALL statewide offices. In New Jersey, despite multiple stump-trips by Obama and his boys, Republican Chris Christie smoked John Corzine. In blue-state Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court went to the Republicans… which could help them with redistricting next year. Gay marriage was shot down in Maine.

In every state in which Barack Obama campaigned for a candidate, the candidate lost. I wish he’d made it up to NY-23. The Obama/ACORN “base” stayed home, and independent voters left the Dems like congressmen scurrying out of Washington on a Thursday afternoon.

Political expert Larry Sabato notes that there have only been two times in history when Virginia and New Jersey so thoroughly flipped to the opposite party: in 1993, before the GOP take over of Congress in 1994, and in 2005, before the Democrats took back Congress in 2006.

It was a sunny conservatism that won the day…not a tit-for-tat with Bush-bashing Democrats. In Virginia, Bob McDonnell ran a pragmatic race on the issues: jobs, the economy, taxes, roads. New Jersey Democrats’ petty ads about Chris Christie’s weight blew up in their faces, as voters are in no mood for such petty shenanigans. What’s more: independents broke strongly for the GOP in all of last night’s big races in a quick flip from the 2008 presidential election. Obama is not the change they believe in.

GOP party powers: Can You Hear Us Now? Let NY-23 be a lesson to you. If you keep turning your backs on conservatives, you will keep losing. Learn the lesson, or ignore it at your peril.

Rush Limbaugh said yesterday:

“You know the death panels are still in the bill. I got some e-mails, “Rush, you won’t find the word death panel in it.” Wake up, folks. It’s even being reported by State-Controlled Associated Press. End-of-life counseling remains in the bill. “The Medicare end-of-life planning provision that 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin said was tantamount to death panels’ for seniors is staying in the Pelosi bill. The provision allows Medicare to pay for voluntary counseling to help beneficiaries deal with the complex and painful decisions families face when a loved one is approaching death. … But when House Democrats proposed this summer to pay doctors for end-of-life counseling, it touched off a wave of suspicion and anger,”and they took it out of there and said it wasn’t going to happen and it was never in there. So now it’s in there. Let’s not forget, Newsweek: “The Case for Pulling the Plug on Granny.”
