How to Create Simple Vignette Effect

There’s a lot of tips and tutorial out there about creating vignette effect with Photoshop on Internet and it’s a nice tutorial actually, but i will make this really simple for you guys. Ok, here we go.

Step 1
Well, you need a photo of course. First, go to the Curve menu, and drag down the diagram to make it darker.

Step 2
Now, choose the marquee tool. You can use oval or the rectangle one. Drag it to the center of your image.

Step 3
Now fill that marquee, with black. You can find it in Edit-Fill or just press Shift+F5. Choose black and then press OK.

Step 4
Ok, now the photo inside the marquee is more lighter that the outside right? To make the vignette more like natural or not much like square, use the Gaussian Blur filter on Filter-Blur-Gaussian Blur. Set the radius to 90 pixels.

Note : you have to do it all in your Curve layer, above the Background layer.
See the difference?

But i want more darker!!
That is not a problem, my kindly reader. You just duplicate the Curve layer. I copied 4 layer to make it more darker.

How To Make Life Poster With Photoshop

I really inspired the Life Poster from Mike Matas and wanted so bad for my photo collection. Well, you can do it with iPhoto if you have Mac, but do not worry if you don’t have it. you can do it with Photoshop.
Ok, so let’s get started.

Step 1
First thing first, you have to collect your 98 photos in 1 folder. Choose a bright, colorful and sweet. And one more thing, you need a landscape (4″x3″) ratio to make your poster perfect.

Step 2
Open your Photoshop CS and go to menu File-Automate, then choose Contact Sheet II.

Step 3
Locate your folder that contain your photos first. You can set the size of width and height as you want it, actually. And the rows and columns too. But let’s get stick with 20″ width and 30″ height. Resolution sets to 200 pixel/inch. Columns set to 7 and 14 for rows. Don’t forget to click the “Use Auto-Spacing”. Right, and click OK.

Step 4
Well, sit back and relax while Photoshop place your photos randomly. And after that, you can save it as .TIFF, .JPG or .PDF just to preview and print it on A4 paper.

If you want to print the Life poster on your favorite development plaza, it should take 100k rupiahs.

Membuat Jelly!

Alhamdulillah kita bertemu dengan bulan Ramadhan yang suci ini kembali. Dan kita sudah pasti akan bersantap sahur dengan keluarga tercinta bukan? Nah saya punya tips untuk melengkapkan santapan sahur, yaitu dengan menutup hidangan dengan hidangan yang berserat, seperti jelly! Pengalaman membuktikan (yah setidaknya pengalaman saya saja) bahwa dengan mengkonsumsi jelly yang kaya serat akan membuat perut saya adem.

Saya membuat video ini kira-kira 2 tahun lalu tentang bagaimana membuat Jelly (saya memakai merek nutrijel) hanya dalam kurang lebih 30 menit saja. Ok selamat mencoba!~

Google Chrome Beta Version

Well, for a Windows users, you can’t go back to Internet Explorer 6 to explore teh interweb, right? You can switch to a more nicer browser than IE 6, like Firefox, Opera, Safari, or the latest that I’m adoring now, Google Chrome 4 (still in Beta Version). This browser is really amazed me, so light, more faster, and great interface with a nice themes to choose (well i know Firefox has a tons of themes but Chrome is more special to me).

MAE concert in Bandung Indonesia, finally!

Yes, i watched Mae concert last week at Sabuga. Truly a great experience watching them live. Love Mae since i was in college and this band is officially witnessed my life journey so far.

Road trip from Jakarta and didn’t brought any camera, just a phone. And I met Patrick at the end of concert.
Thank you Mae for your beautiful music.
