The Museum Education Graduate Assistant will be instrumental in developing and implementing interpretive programs at the new Downtown Art Gallery.

Graduate Assistants work in the gallery an average of 20 hours/week (except holidays and University recesses.) They will split their time between focused long-term projects outlined above as well as daily tasks in support of the Galleries' programs and operations, including, but not limited to: moving collections objects, preparing for public programs, blogging on the gallery blog, giving short gallery tours to students and staff, matting, framing, packing and installing art.

Benefits

This is an ideal position for a student with a BA who wants to strengthen their application to graduate school and their work experience at the same time. The fair emphasizes that one does not need to be an art expert or billionaire to purchase works of art by living artists. With the
fair taking place annually in Amsterdam, Bristol, Brussels, London (spring and fall), Melbourne, Milan, New York (spring and fall), North London, Singapore, and Sydney, $300 million worth of art has been sold at the fairs and we welcomed our one millionth visitor in November 2011. The mission of the fair worldwide is to serve those buying their first work of art to the traditional collector. The brand’s continued success is because we produce a professionally managed
event, bring in a varied audience, and maintain quality exhibitors.

Fair Assistants will get a behind the scene look at how a contemporary art fair is planned and managed. Assistants will learn about event planning, gain exposure to the arts and be part of an important cultural event.

Requirements: Fair Assistants should be interested in the arts or in event management. All assistants need to have an upbeat attitude and be willing to do whatever job comes up. Flexibility, organization, and an eagerness to help are essential qualities. All fair assistants should be willing and able to work long hours, and be prepared to be on their feet for long stretches of time. It is a fun project to work on and a fun team to work with, and we are happy to discuss the position and the company further.

Assistant Professor of Art+Design / Film & Media Studies

The School of Art+Design and School of Film & Media studies at Purchase College, SUNY seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor, specializing in Digital Sculpture, and beginning in the fall of 2012 (subject to budgetary approval).
