Echo Mountain

Echo Mountain is the closest ski resort to Denver, and is only 35 miles from the downtown area. It is located in Idaho Springs, Colorado. Echo Mountain is one of only two resorts in this area that will allow you to ski at night. The base elevation of Echo Mountain is 10,500 feet and it has a vertical drop of 660 feet. There are three lifts at this ski resort, and 15 different trails for you to ski on. They open in December and typically stay open until the end of April. They average 250 inches of snow per year.

Loveland Ski Resort

Loveland Ski Resort is 53 miles from Denver, and is a popular ski resort in this area. Loveland is 10,800 feet, with a vertical drop of 2,210 feet. There are 93 trails for you to ski on, and includes 10 different chair lifts. They average approximately 400 inches of snow per year. They open in October and normally stay open until the middle of May.

Winter Park Ski Resort

Winter Park is 67 miles from Denver, and is a popular resort for beginner skiers, as well as intermediates. The base elevation of Winter Park is 9,000 feet, and includes 143 different trails with over 3,000 acres of land to ski on. They open in November until the middle of April.

Eldora Ski Resort

Eldora is a smaller ski resort and has more of a family atmosphere. This is a great ski resort for the beginner skier, and it is much cheaper than other ski resorts. The intermediate and more advanced skiers can also find many trails at this ski resort to keep them satisfied.

Beaver Creek Ski Resort

There is much more to do than ski at this ski resort. You can also take a tour through the mine, or hire a group of Siberian Huskies to take you on a dogsled rides. You can also visit the local pub for some great food and beer. This is a great ski resort for the beginner skier, as well as the more advanced skier.

Keystone Ski Resort

The Keystone ski resort is a great place for everyone, from the beginner to the more advanced skier. It has over 116 trails for you to ski on, along with over 3,000 acres of land. It is 11,640 feet above sea level. When you are finish skiing, you can visit the Summit House for a good meal.

Purgatory Ski Resort

The Purgatory Ski Resort has many different activities for teens and children. There are also many trails here to keep the more advanced skier very satisfied. This is the type of ski resort that families like to visit.

Steamboat Springs Ski Resort

The Steamboat Springs ski resort is known for producing over 60 Winter Olympians. It has 2,965 acres of ski area for you to ski on. You can then enjoy a nice meal at one of the restaurants in the area.

Silverton Ski Resort

The Silverton Ski resort is not a resort for the beginner skier. All lift riders have to wear avalanche gear at this resort, and the easiest run has a 35-degree slope. If you are an advanced skier, you should visit the Silverton and see if you can manage this slope.

Earth Sciences Lab

Visit the earth sciences lab to learn more about the many fossils that teach us about the past. The lab employes more than 100 men and women, that donate their time to learn about these fossils. Any fossil that you see on display at the museum first go through this lab.

The Sunken Temple collection is an area designed much like the ancient temple ruins under the ocean. The Rainforest Collection includes marsh around rivers and small fish swimming there. The Wharf Collection is like a wharf with different aquatic animals swim deep in the wharf area. The Under the Sea collection are those aquatic animals the live right off of the shore. The Desert Collection house those animals that do not need as much water. The North American Collection houses many different aquatic animals. The animals in this zone are only those animals that reside in North America.

Denver Aquarium Restaurant and Bar

After walking through the aquarium for a few yours, you might be getting hungry. The restaurant at the Denver Aquarium is very unique in that it is completely wrapped around a 50,000 aquarium from ceiling to floor. Over 100 different species of fish from all over the world are swimming in this aquarium as you enjoy your dinner.
