IDMA will be exhibiting at Government Video Expo (GV Expo) on December 2,3, in Washington D.C. We will once again be demonstrating how to harness the power of Blu-ray video and publish BD discs without having to get bogged down in expensive licensing and replication; we will also have some special guest presenters at the IDMA booth (#349) so and some VERY special gifts for those who choose to join IDMA on the spot!

This will be the year that Hollywood and the CE industry attempt to finally embed Blu-ray into the consumers' consciousness, and they're going to do it with the MOST aggressive pricing we have yet seen.

This bodes well for those of us who have been evangelizing publication on BD-ROM, as it may swell the ranks of those who can actually VIEW the great stuff you guys will be creating (or have created already).

There WILL be (count on it) a BOATLOAD of Blu-ray play [...]

Toast 10 Menu Issues - we have a list of players

Some users (myself included) have reported that Blu-ray Discs created with Toast 10 (and BD on DVD as well) currently have problems properly displaying the menus properly on SOME Blu-ray Players.

I've extensively reported on this bug to Roxio (Sonic) and have been assured they are aware of it, and are fixing it, but as of yet (August 22) no specific date has been set for the release of 10.0.3, which should fix it.

My Pro-Pack CDs have helped a large number of DVD authors around the world, and I'm happy to have created this product for all of you who have purchased it (and thanks for your support!).

The times have changed, and downloadable projects have been warmly received by all site visitors and members, so it's time to mothball the Pro-Pack CDs, in favor of exclusively downloadable projects.

I'll be removing the CDs from the store sometime in the coming weeks.

I've been working a LOT on my new e-book, "Fast Path to Blu-ray" in which Part 1 outlines the way for Mac users to get some Blu-ray joy. Part 2 will cover the same basics, but from the PC standpoint.

This weekend, I will be posting the current Table of Contents, and Chapter 2, which outlines new Blu-ray in Final Cut Pro 7, as a downloadable PDF for anyone who is registered on the website, paid member or free.

I'll be on the Digital Production Buzz tomorrow (Thursday) with Larry Jordan and Michael Horton discussing the new "quick" Blu-ray features in Final Cut Studio 3, as well as BRAND NEW IDMA Blu-ray replication deals created especially for indie producers. Apple has released the new version of Final Cut Studio, and it has some interesting Optical Disc updates - NO, DVD Studio Pro does NOT do Blu-ray. But there IS a new command in FCP7 that provides a direct path to burning a simple Blu-ray disc, much like Toast 10. I'll have more on this in the future.

Well, it's been an interesting NAB 2009, that's for sure...

While it was a little low-key as far as Blu-ray was concerned, one VERY interesting development was the introduction of BluStreak Premaster a new Mac program that allows replication of Blu-ray projects created on a Mac with Adobe Encore CS3/4 or Roxio Toast 10.
