As you browse the Web, you may encounter webpages that don't work properly unless you install an ActiveX control. ActiveX controls are powerful browser plugins that enable many rich web experiences. Managing website files.

What Is Plesk ??
Like cPanel, Plesk is a control panel for your Web hosting. Unlike cPanel, though, it runs on the Windows® operating system. Plesk offers most of the same website-management tools as cPanel, with the exception of email.

Both cPanel and Plesk are full of amazing features and very similar in the way they function. However, they are different in some manner also. They have different security models and both are organized in a different way. Even though the differences might seem minor, but for some web projects, they could be huge.

If you’re already used to using cPanel or Plesk, switching won’t be easy. It may cause frustration because you won’t know where anything is or how things operate with the new control panel. However, some websites feature guides to help you find features on a new control panel, which makes the journey easier if you need to switch.

Below we are going to discuss some basic factors between cPanel And Plesk.

# Usability

Usability is an important part of any control panel and you need one you can use without any issue. Plesk and cPanel both provide video tutorials and a search within the panel. However, Plesk also offers some extra features to people like:

..The ability to turn on features with a license key.
..Role-based user permissions.
..Non-technical help for the beginner.
..A simplified user interface for non-hosters.
..Optional server control from your mobile phone.

# Operating System

When choosing between cPanel Or Plesk, the operating system you use will make a difference. Most Windows users will choose Plesk because it is far better for Windows than cPanel. However developers often prefer cPanel because it supports CentOS, BSD distros, FreeBSD, RedHat and Linux OS. This gives developers the ability to do more with their control panel than Plesk does.

# Cost

Cost is somewhere an important facter to fulfill your demands. If you intend to use the control panel for a very long time, it may not make much of a difference which one you choose.

However for most customers, cPanel is cheaper than Plesk.

# Beginners

Since most beginners don’t know where to start when choosing a control panel, it’s important to address the needs of the novice user. CPanel is a very usable choice, but it’s not laid out in the best way. Plesk is laid out in a better way and provides easier navigation making it the better choice for most beginners.

However, cPanel provides options that are more powerful and allows users to restart things, such as FTP, DNS, POP3 and SSH services. Even though cPanel maybe a bit more powerful, Plesk is easier to start and functions better for the beginner.

# Conclusion Between cPanel and Plesk

Plesk and cPanel are both fast, stable and secure. In the past, when one has advanced, the other has often caught up fairly quickly. If you’re new to hosting, find a web host that offers demos of both control panels and try them out for yourself.
Overall, the winner between cPanel vs Plesk depends on the user. If you’re new, you may prefer Plesk, but if you’re a beginner and you’re not using Windows, cPanel might be the better choice. Most advanced users will prefer cPanel, while some may prefer Plesk because they’re familiar with it.

Hope you liked this article. Below are some nice ways you should follow in order to secure a VPS Server :-

1 Installing a Root Breach Detector and Email Warning.

If someone does happen to get root, be warned quickly and easily by installing a detector and warning at your inbox directly. You will at least get the hackers/spammers ip address and be warned someone is in there. Server will e-mail you everytime when someone logs in as root .

At command prompt (CMD) type below codes in order to set the above feature:

pico .bash_profile

Scroll down to the end of the file and add the following line also:

echo 'ALERT - Root Shell Access on:' `date` `who` | mail -s "Alert: Root Access from `who | awk '{print $6}'`" YOUR@email.com

NOTE : Red Text signifies that you have to enter your own mail id in which you want to receive mails.

Now Just Save and all done.

Set an SSH Legal Message :-

To set an SSH legal message, SSH into server and login as root.
At command prompt (CMD) type below codes :
pico /etc/motd

Enter your favourable message and then save.

Message Example : Warning! You are entering a secured area!! Your IP and login information
have been recorded for future refrence . All activities on
this system are recorded and logged.

2 Root kit checker.

Check for root kits and even set a root kit on a cron job. This will show you if anyone has compromised your root. Hackers and spammers will try to find insecure upload forms on your box and then with injection methods, try to upload the root kit on your server. Both sounds you same, but these have it's own advantages and disadvantages. We insist you guys before buying some thing, you should read this article twice. This article will not only helps you to choose best server but also helps you to understand their benefits.

1. Continuous Performance :-

One of the issues you may encounter with VPS servers is inflexibility in performance. If you benchmark a VPS solution at different times of the day under the same conditions of traffic, you might get different results. Some service providers may allow you to burst your allocated CPU utilization, but you’re not guaranteed that this extra CPU power will be available when you really need it. With a dedicated server you are guaranteed access CPU resources at full level.

2. Higher Security :-

Although virtualization platforms are hardened at the hypervisor level, not all solutions are equal in terms of security. Virtualisation platforms are still environments that you share with many others, sometimes thousands of clients. The only way to be sure that your data is fully isolated from others is with a dedicated server.

3. More Upgrade Options :-

VPS providers generally offer fixed configurations, prepackaged, with no option to upgrade. Dedicated Servers offer you more flexibility. While you start with a package that meets your needs, you can increase your RAM along the way and upgrade your server (CPU and Disk Space) without re-installing your whole system thanks to Smart Server’s easy migration option.

4. Ease To Use :-

Dedicated Servers have custom-built Control Center. This is a unique server management GUI that offers you more control over your server hardware and network configurations. You also have access to a virtual console that allows you to manage your server as if you were right in our datacenter and perform remote reboot, if need be. Dedicated Servers can easily be configured to use cPanel WHM control panel and R1Soft backup software for additional flexibility and data security.

5. Genuine Hardware Parts :-

A VPS configuration never displays the actual hardware components it is built upon. With dedicated Servers you get assurance that each server is built with genuine hardware parts: Intel CPUs, WD (Western Digital) Disks and major brand RAM example- Kingston, Crucial or Corsair ,etc, Super Micro motherboards.

6. Price Vs. Value :-

Price is something which a person chooses from his pocket to buy a hosting solution, however, but on other hand value is even more important. If you look closer, there is not significant difference in price between a dedicated Server and most of VPS offerings available on the market. There is a significant difference, though, in the value delivered, considering the flexibility and features you get with a dedicated Server.

Hope you liked this article. Today we will be telling you the security risks involved with PHP and MySQL database and taking precautions.

1. Transmit Information with POST method: PHP uses POST and GET to transmit information. Always use POST method to hide the information. When you use GET method, the information is transmitted through a URL and therefore quite visible. This leaves sensitive information very vulnerable to hijacks.

2. Use php-fpm to install PHP: The fastcgi process manager php-fpm makes it easy for you to be able to manage and run PHP applications in their own user group. When you run Apache and PHP as separate users the security risks of one compromised application being able to compromise another application is considerably reduced.

3. Validate form and text input: A form can be used to inject or upload malicious scripts. Validating form and file input can help prevent cross site scripting and SQL injection. It is important to prevent these notorious hacking methods as they are the vulnerabilities that hackers can easily target with malicious code.

4. Hiding PHP version: We have focused on the importance of hiding the version of the software that you are running. It is just as critical to hide the PHP version as it is to hide your Apache web server version. If you want to hide the php version, open the php.ini file and edit the following:

Vim /etc/php.ini
expose_php = Off

5. Log the PHP errors to a file: Track all errors to identify unauthorized activity by logging them to a file. Hacking attempts often go through several trial and error before being able to actually hack into your sever. If these attempts are spread over days, logs can help you track and prevent the attacks. Use the following:

display_errors = Off
log_errors = On
error_log = /var/log/httpd/php_error.log

6. Secure your MySQL installation: The next step to secure a MySQL installation is to secure the users and databases by removing the ones that you don’t need. User accounts can be protected by creating strong passwords and the databases can be protected by limiting user’s access to their respective databases.

7. Run the MySQL Secure Install script: The mysql_secure_installation helps you to implement recommended security measures for a database. It must be run just after installing a MySQL database. We also pressurize you that lock root access to local host and add a MySQL root password and complete the steps to remove the databases that you do not need.

Hope you liked this article. Changing the listening port for an RDP actually has a advantage particularly if you are remoting in from behind a firewall. Now in this modern era a lot of public firewalls block most ports except for those used for email and internet access, using the default settings for RDP will not work on them. As long as you are not remoting into a machine that is serving secure sites, you can change the listening port to 443 and access your machine from almost anywhere. Just follow below instructions to change port:-

Step 1.

Open "Regedit", by opening "run" from start and then entering "regedit.exe"

Step 2.

After opening regedit, open the exact path as shown below.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp.

Step 3.

Find the "dword" value named "PortNumber".

Step 4.

Change the value to "443".

Step 5.

Close Regedit and reboot your system .

To connect, open the remote client and type in the "hostname" or "address" followed by :443.

Example

Ip Address 11:22:33:44:443
Hostname rdparena.com:443

Hope you liked this article. We in this post has covered approx all errors solutions which stops you to connect to a remote PC.

PROBLEM 1

The remote PC cannot be found.

If you see this type of error, try to connect to your server 2-3 times, if then also not works then talk to the system admin of the remote PC to make sure you have the right PC name, and then check to see if you entered the name correctly. If you still can't connect, try entering the IP address of the remote PC instead of the PC name.

Example - xyz.rdparena.com (PC Name) to 11.22.33.44 (IP address)

PROBLEM 2

There is a problem with this network.

This fault is mainly because of your own system network. Be sure that your router is turned on (home networks only), the Ethernet cable is plugged into your network adapter (wired networks only), your PC’s wireless switch is turned on (laptops on wireless networks only),your network adapter is working. If the problem keeps happening then try to run "troubleshoot problems". If then also problem not solves then contact the person who set up your network.

PROBLEM 3

The RDP port might be blocked by a firewall on either your local or remote server.

To allow RDP through Windows Firewall, follow these steps on your or server's PC:

Open Windows Firewall from control panel,

Tap or click Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall .

Tap or click Change settings. Administrator permission required You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.

Under Allowed apps and features, select Remote Desktop, and then tap or click OK.

If you're using a different firewall, make sure the port for Remote Desktop (usually 3389) is open.

PROBLEM 4

The remote PC might be turned off.

You cannot connect to a server PC that's turned off, asleep, or hibernating, so if the remote PC has supports hibernation, make sure the settings for sleep and hibernation on the remote PC are set to Never or simply say turned off.

Hope you liked this article.
