The program that I just bought crapped out on me and won’t let the episode be released. I’m currently talking to the developer to see if I can get it fixed. We aren’t sure yet on the future of the show. As of now, we are trying to get it back on track. Let us know what you think at thegameadvisor@gmail.com and/or mail@ravinglucidity.com.

Hey guys. I just wanted to let everyone know that there won’t be an episode of the Raving Lucidity podcast this week. We realize that this hurts our credibility, especially sense we haven’t had regular episodes in so long, but time constraints and health issues have prevented us from being able to get together. I want to apologize to everyone who listens to the show and let you know that we are going to do our best to get a new show out for next week. Thanks for sticking with us.

I finally got to go see Taken last weekend. It’s hard for me to think of a good way to start this review. All I can think of is, “It’s Awesome!!”

If you weren’t positive that Liem Neeson is a bad ass, this is pretty good affirmation. It didn’t take me long to get sucked into his character and the story he was portraying. But, then again, I buy into movies fairly easily.

It’s a short movie, at least by today’s standards, coming in at around an hour and a half. It’s the perfect length for a movie like this. It opens, they set it up, start the plot, Neeson kicks ass for about 45 minutes, and then it resolves nicely. It’s just enough to get the story across, but leave you wanting more.

It’s rated PG-13, so it’s not all that graphic. That’s not to say that the images don’t stay with you. I feel that this movie does a good job of expressing the dangers that one could be in if they aren’t careful while traveling. It wasn’t that long ago that something like this happened in real life in Aruba, and I’m sure it happens more than we are told. If I had a teenager going on a trip, I would consider making them watch this before they go.

Though the material may be disturbing or unsettling, this movie isn’t a downer. The action kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I even found myself letting out an excited “YES” to myself during some fight scenes. The audience even applauded at the end.

This is a MUST SEE, no question. I may also be buying it when the Blu-ray comes out.

It’s been a long time since we’ve had any content on our websites. Because we still work in retail for our “day jobs”, the holiday season got the best of us. Thankfully those days are over, for now, and we can get back to managing our sites. New podcasts are out for both and we are streamlining the way we handle them. This means that we will be able to get podcasts out faster and more reliably. We’ve also made a couple of changes to the content we put on the sites themselves.

On thegameadvisor.com, we have stopped scoring games in reviews. Obviously that’s not the industry standard, but that’s the point. We are different. A lot of people think that if a game gets a 7.0 it’s not worth trying, but that may not be what it means. Plus, it’s hard to put a score on a game. From now on, we are going to write our opinions so that you can decide for yourself if it’s worth playing.

For ravinglucidity.com, we widened the scope of things we will talk about. Before, we did movies, TV, comics, and DVD’s. To me, it never felt right. It seemed weird because it was too broad to fit into one category. We’ve decided to get rid of the limitations we put on ourselves and open the gates to make any discussion possible. If you want to hear what we came up with, check out the podcast.

All in all, I think we’ve made some pretty good changes. There should be some new stuff on the sites too. If your interested in the shows, check them out on iTunes or get the feed from the sites.

Lastly, I want to thank every one who has worked with me on these projects. I couldn’t have done any of this without the team of friends helping me along the way.

We have a lot of ideas. Stick with us to see what we have up our sleeves.

A group of us saw this movie last night. It stars Michael Cera and Kat Dennings and is directed by Peter Sollett.

I’ve been really lucky lately to have seen so many good movies in a short amount of time. I’m glad I can add this one to the list. It is very much in the “indie” vain, the hand drawn opening credits was a big clue, but that just makes it better.

It’s basically a story about how two teens meet in New York one night and the strange story that follows. Of course there is more to it than that. I just hate giving anything away when you should do yourself a favor and go see it.

I do have a few things I would like to say about related topics though.

1. I’m sick of people saying Michael Cera is a bad actor or that he is stuck because he does the same type of rolls. That’s what he is good at. There are lots of actors who do the same type of rolls because they do it best. If your doing a romantic comedy with Rachel McAdams, you don’t call Steven Seagal to co star.

2. This is nothing like Juno, unless you mean indie vibe teen comedy. And, if that is what you mean, there are a LOT of Juno’s. I saw that movie, and at no point did she and her unborn baby drive through the streets of New York all night looking for a band and a drunk girl.

3. Get over the fact that they are hip teens, ok? It will save every one a lot of time. Also, the music was good so stop complaining.

I’ll admit, this movies charm won me over more than the actual plot, but I think that is the strength of movies like this.

If you like these kinds of movies, the by all means go see it. If you don’t, then there is nothing for you here, sorry. I personally give this movie a 9 out or 10.

Last week, our group went out to see Ghost Town. It stars Ricky Gervais, Téa Leoni, Greg Kinnear, and Billy Campbell and is directed by David Koepp.

I have to say I really enjoyed this movie. It was definitely a “smart” comedy, but that doesn’t surprise me when you see who the star is. I’m not going to say much about it here because we covered it on episode 4 of Raving Lucidity. Be sure to check that out for our take on it. For a quick look, check out the page on Rotten Tomatoes.

All I will say here is definitely go see it. 8 out of 10.
