Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Requires No PS3 HDD Installation

Today GamesOnSmash.com (linked above) managed to get their hands on Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for Sony's PlayStation 3 console and have confirmed that the title does not require any PS3 HDD installation.

However, they do report that upon receiving the game users will be prompted to download a 15MB update for it.

To quote: "Well today I got an early copy of Call Of Duty MW2. I put the disc in, and well the bad news is it requires a 15MB update but does no require any install whatsoever. So gamers can pretty much jump in and play on the PS3 version of the game.

Hmm.. makes me wonder if other developers can follow suit and at least make it optional."

Activision Hires Online Detective to Take Down Warfare 2 Pirate

Just over a week ago it was [url=http://www.ps3news.com/XBox-360/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2-for-xbox-360-leaked-early/]reported[/url] that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for XBox 360 was leaked early to the Internet.

Since then, a pirate who advertised his services of Modern Warfare 2 and an XBox 360 before the street launch of the game has been busted by Activision with the help of an online detective they hired.

Apparently the whole process took less than a week for him to be located and busted, according to [b]Rob Holmes[/b], owner of IPCybercrime.

To quote from VentureBeat.com (linked above): "This kid was in a position to sell thousands of these," Holmes said.

Police interrogated the runner, who led them to [b]Christian Del Amo[/b]'s home. They then arrested Del Amo yesterday. Del Amo's attorney has not returned a call for comment.

So the other night I cracked open my DS3 and did a little PS3 controller modding.

LittleBigPlanet PS3 Patch 1.20 Arrives, 1.21 Details Surface

Today LittleBigPlanet PS3 patch version 1.20 is available, alongside details of the next patch 1.21 update, as follows:

Patch 1.20 has been released for LBP today so named "Celtic Promise", no details have been announced only that it is 23mb and is a DLC patch, no hidden features that ave been sneaked in this time around.

But there is some exiting news aabout Patch 1.21 and the Leadammer patch from [b]mnimmo1986[/b] over at the [url=http://community.eu.playstation.com/playstationeu/board/message?board.id=b_EN_GAMES_general_lbp&thread.id=47514&view=by_date_ascending&page=1]Official PS Boards[/url] he had this to say in his LBP patch details thread about the patch:

Recently many users have received their Netflix Instant Streaming Disc that began [url=http://www.ps3news.com/PlayStation-3/netflix-instant-streaming-disc-for-ps3-is-now-shipping/]shipping[/url] a few days ago.

As mentioned previously, the disc is required to use the Netflix steaming service on the PlayStation 3 until 2010, when a Firmware update will take its place.

Autoweek.com (linked above) met with Gran Turismo creator and godfather [b]Kazunori Yamauchi[/b] at SEMA and asked him several questions about the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 title for Sony's PS3 console.

White Knight Chronicles PS3 Patch Update 2.01 is Now Available

Level 5 Games has updated White Knight Chronicles for PS3 with patch update 2.01 today.

The update adds a voice chat feature into the Japanese version, as well as collectable PlayStation Home rewards including a White Knight costume and a White Knight statue.

Netflix Instant Streaming Disc for PS3 is Now Shipping

Today Netflix has begun shipping the PS3 Instant Streaming Disc required to use its steaming service on the PlayStation 3 until 2010, when a Firmware update will take its place.

Those who [url=http://www.ps3news.com/PlayStation-3/netflix-ps3-disc-must-remain-in-system-until-2010-update/]signed up[/url] for it just over a week ago should be checking your mail boxes sometime next week for it.

If you have a Netflix account, going to this 'Instant Streaming Disc' page (linked above) now lists the long-awaited PS3 Netflix disc as pending and has a field for Estimated Arrival... much like the queue list does. It also has an Activation Number field for those who receive their disc.

Namco Bandai: Tekken 6 PS3 Online Patch is Coming Soon

Today Namco Bandai has confirmed that a Tekken 6 PS3 online patch is in the works and coming soon.

The patch is expected to remedy issues including that when trying to compete online in any sort of meaningful way, you're met with acute, game-ending connectivity issues.

To quote: Namco recognized that today and issued a statement stating, "To improve the online game experience for players ... Namco Bandai games is developing a downloadable update which will be available as soon as it has passed rigorous testing procedures."

Unfortunately, no date for the patch has been given, though the publisher does add, "This is separate from the online co-op Scenario Campaign mode update."

We've pestered Namco for more details on exactly what the patch will aim to fix and when we might hear more about it but, until that time, know this: something is being fixed at some point.

Less than a week after Electronic Arts [url=http://www.ps3news.com/General-Off-Topic/ea-announces-battlefield-bad-company-2-limited-edition/]announced[/url] Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Limited Edition comes a leak of some tank gameplay footage.

Gameplay in Bad Company 2 resembles that of Battlefield: Bad Company and takes place in the mountainous regions along the border of Russia among other places.

For those wondering, the first-person shooter is set for release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows on March 2, 2010 for North America and March 5, 2010 for Europe.

BlazBlue Portable is Heading to Sony's PSP on February 25, 2010

According to the latest Famitsu Magazine, the Playstation 3's BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger will be ported to the PSP under the name of BlazBlue Portable.

This is definitely an interesting move considering BlazBlue on the PS3 featured Remote Play support - allowing you to play the game on the PSP already.

To quote: "The latest Famitsu issue revealed that BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger will be heading to the PSP in the near future under the name, BlazBlue Portable.

The high-definition 2D fighting game was released this summer for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A sequel, titled BlazBlue: Continuum Shift was revealed in September for the two aformentioned home consoles.

It should be interesting to see how the fluid and fast-paced fighting game fare on the PSP when BlazBlue Portable comes out in Japan on February 25th."

UHD: Ultra-High Definition TV to Feature 7680 x 4320 Pixels

This holiday season most will be trying to replace their DVD players with Blu-ray and their nice plasma flatscreens with HDTVs.

However, the industry already is worrying about the market for UHD - Ultra-High Definition.

Apparently, UHD will debut in the next five to 10 years, but is expected to take a long time before it reaches a "critical mass," deemed to be taking up residence in 5 percent of households globally, according to market research firm In-Stat.

To quote: UHD will come in two resolution levels: 7680 x 4320 pixels (8K) and 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K) and provide four to 16 times the resolution of Blu-ray or 1080p high-def. And "22.2 multichannel three-dimensional sound."

In-Stat's study concluded that high resolution digital cinema would drive consumers to UHDTVs so they could experience the same quality on their home television sets and that broadcasters would start providing content in the lower-resolution UHD by 2017 and the high-resolution technology by 2022.

SCEE Announces Movies for PS3 Video Service Launch in Europe

Today SCEE announced that the video store will launch "sometime late November," with films being available in both HD and SD.

Nintendo to Offer WiiWare Demos Later This Month

Nintendo CEO [b]Satoru Iwata[/b] has confirmed that in the near future it will test out providing demos on the WiiWare service.

Apparently the reason why demos will be provided on the network is because Nintendo wants to try and lure in new shoppers to the service.

To quote: "During the Q&A session at a recent earnings briefing, Iwata told investors that Nintendo would begin a test program for WiiWare demos some time this month. The test will cover just a few titles.

According to Iwata, Nintendo is undertaking this test to see if it can get more players shopping on the Wii Shopping Channel.

He admitted that the market for WiiWare and DSi Ware is currently small, with the Wii Shopping Channel and DSi Shop browsed only by people who already know the game they want to get."

Left 4 Dead 2 PC Demo is Now Available on Steam
