It really does impress me how much detail is worked into the episodes to show how Yuuki is indeed dead -- though these things only hit us in hindsight. But hit us indeed, and with a powerful strike too.

I'm not quite ready to give the show a rewatch, but yes I'm rather happy with the whole thing.

While I can truthfully say that I enjoyed watching this film, I can't bring myself to rewatch it. Eureka SeveN is a big favorite of mine, and my completing it in 2009 makes it probably the most fulfilling viewing experience I had all year.

After watching this movie, I was entertained -- if apologetic for my own experience. I liked the touches it did in homage to other works (a main thing why I like E7), particularly with how Holland's mecha used 'Funnels' straight out of Gundam.

But three things seriously bothered me:

1. Dewey's disappearance from the narrative altogether.
2. & 3. Hap and Stoner -- this was just awful; two endearingly woven side characters reduced to cowardly villains here.

It's revolting to recollect; which is probably why I can't bring myself to watch this movie again.

Yes, the juxtaposition between the children's playground and all the sex talk is interesting indeed. Part of what I find charismatic about this show is that it doesn't tiptoe around being about fanservice.

This is interesting too, as being 'about' fanservice is distinct from being a show (merely) filled with fanservice. Not only is it self-aware about its fanservice, but it is aware at the level of it being an essay about it.

I find it a frontier of conversations about authenticity, and that makes it a very rich experience for me.
