Service Experts Joins The THREE-OH-WE-GO Team!

When local businesses decide to join the Project Live Love team, we just can’t wait to tell you about it! Service Experts is a heating and air conditioning company serving the Atlanta area and they are now an official sponsor of Three-Oh-We-Go!

Because Service Experts is in the business of keeping people warm, they understand the importance of making sure that the homeless community of Atlanta is kept warm through the cold winter nights. Not only are they supporting the effort financially, the employees of Service Experts are going to join us on Go-Nights, volunteering their time to serve those in need!

January 7th 2012 LIVE LOVE EVENT

The January 7th LIVE LOVE Event was a great way to bring in the new year! Once again, nearly 200 volunteers showed up eager to put their love into action and serve the people of Atlanta. After a high-energy rally to kick off the event, our teams spread out across Atlanta – spending the first Saturday of 2012 living love!

Check out what we were able to do in just one afternoon:

Improve the Gateway Center
Build tables at the Furniture Bank for needy families
Make improvements to the Atlanta Mission homeless shelter
Deliver furniture to individuals in need
Serve meals and socks to the homeless at SafeHouse Outreach
Serve meals to men at a sober living recovery center
Paint an apartment at a sober living recovery center
Paint an at-risk youth facility at YouthPride Atlanta
Make improvements and serve meals at Chris Kids’ youth home
Garden in the Atlanta Food Bank community garden

These events would be neither possible nor successful without the individuals who volunteer their time and the organizations who sponsor, partner and donate to Project Live Love. To our veteran leaders and volunteers, we thank you for continued service. To our first time volunteers, we are so excited that you joined us and look forward to seeing you at future events.

LIVE LOVE Spotlight: Kel Long III

Meet Kel Long. Kel is one of Project Live Love’s Board members, a co-founder of THREE-OH-WE-GO! and a man whose love for others shines into every facet of his life.

On a cold night in 2009, Kel met Project Live Love founder, Drew Benton, on the streets of Atlanta as they were both out serving the homeless community. A friendship was formed and meetings were held over the course of the winter to create an organized effort and hands-on serving opportunity (what is now THREE-OH-WE-GO!) that would begin in the winter of 2010.

If you have participated in a THREE-OH-WE-GO! night, chances are high that you have met Kel – even after the hours of behind-the-scenes planning that goes into a successful ‘Go-Night,’ Kel remains on the front lines of the program, showing up night after freezing cold night to give warmth and hope to those who are sleeping on the streets.

In addition to the time and effort he gives to keeping the homeless warm, Kel also serves as a project leader at our quarterly Live Love Events. And as a Board member, he casts vision and projects purpose for the future of Project Live Love. Kel is a prime example of someone who not only talks the talk, but also walks the walk.

On behalf of the Project Live Love team, our volunteers and those who are advancing our message of Living Love, thank you, Kel. Because you are so generous with your time and talents, Project Live Love is more easily able to do the one thing we set out to do every day: live love.

Thank You Wells Fargo – Days of Giving Event

Project Live Love was honored by Wells Fargo with a $1,000 grant at the company’s Days of Giving celebration at the Ed Isakson/Alpharetta Family YMCA on Nov. 15, 2011.

The donation to Project Live love is among contributions to 234 groups to non-profits across Alabama made at community events. The program is in its third year in Atlanta.

“A hallmark of Wells Fargo is local decision-making and local involvement,” said Doug Fuentes, community bank president for the area. “Through Days of Giving we’re helping groups that are making a difference in local communities.” He added that Project Live love was selected by frontline employees of the company for the honor.

Across Atlanta, Wells Fargo has more than 5,000 employees and serves customers at nearly 200 bank locations.

Added Fuentes, “We know the needs continue to be great across our area, especially now. This is a way to help more people and more groups that we haven’t been able to reach in the past.”

Gift Wrapping For A Good Cause

‘Tis the season for giving! As the holidays approach, Project Live Love continues to focus on giving to others. In order to be constantly prepared to meet the needs of people in our community, we are hosting a fundraiser at the Edgewood Barnes and Noble three Fridays in December. We will be offering gift wrapping as a service to customers on December 2nd and December 9th from 10am until 10pm and on December 16th from 11am until 10pm.

Stop by the Barnes and Noble located at 1217 Carolina Street and Moreland Avenue in Atlanta on December 2nd, 9th, or 16th to say hello, do some Christmas shopping, and – of course – Live Love by having your gifts wrapped by our team!

It’s time for Three-Oh-We-Go!

It’s that time of year again… We are ready to begin the second season of Three-Oh-We-Go!

Last season was a great success. 230 volunteers gave up their time over the course of 33 GO-Nights that were an average of 24 degrees. We distributed over 800 blankets and helped over 1,300 people!

According to a recently published homeless census for the Metro Atlanta area, there are “more people living on the streets of Atlanta this year than at any other time in the last decade.” That means we will need your help more than every this season as we ensure people who are sleeping homeless are surviving the harsh winter nights.

Save It Forward

Project Live Love is excited to partner with Save It Forward, a local organization that uses extreme couponing to feed hungry children and their families in the Metro-Atlanta area. For the next few weeks, we are calling on the Project Live Love family to rally behind this organization. There are several ways that you, your family, your church group, social organization or friends can live your love through supporting the Save It Forward initiative.

SEND IN YOUR COUPONS – We ask that people donate the whole coupon insert. You can send any kind of coupons that could be used at a grocery or drug store. You can mail them directly to: Alive Ministries, 401 Laurel Lynn Way, Woodstock Georgia 30188

VOLUNTEER TO SHOP –Incorporate Save It Forward into your family or organization’s outreach plans. Spending an average of approximately $5 per week, you can buy items needed to stock the shelves of the food pantries for the families in need! To be a volunteer shopper, email us at info@projectlivelove.com to receive your coupons and start shopping!

SERVE AT THE PANTRIES – Volunteers are always needed to serve at the pantries. You can view the volunteer opportunities at ishopforhungrykids.com – both on the main page & also on the calendar page.

DONATE – In an effort to fund staff and general operating expenses such as shelving, refrigerators, freezers, bags, & office supplies, financial contributions would be greatly appreciated. All l donations should be made payable to Alive Ministries, Inc. and sent to the address above. Alive Ministries, Inc. is a 501c3 & will provide tax statements at the end of the year for all financial donations.

LIVE LOVE Event Oct 8th 2011

Here’s to the Second Year!

The October 8th LIVE LOVE Event marked the beginning of our second year of quarterly events serving the people of Atlanta! With grateful hearts, we would like to thank everyone who gave up their Saturday to volunteer their time and talents. With over 200 volunteers spread out over 16 projects across the City of Atlanta, it was an inspiration to watch the Project Live Love family come together and live love!

Here is what we accomplished:

- Built kitchen tables for families in need at the Atlanta Furniture Bank

- Painted and landscaped for the Atlanta Mission

- Prepared groceries for families at the Atlanta Community Food Bank

- Helped turn a house into a home by delivering and assembling furniture

- Served meals and socks to members of the homeless community with Safehouse Outreach

- Spent time hanging out with homeless individuals in the park

- Served meals to men in the Sober Living facility

- Painted an apartment at a safe living recovery facility

- Distributed groceries and clothing to a needy community at Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless

- Improved an at-risk youth facility at YouthPride of Atlanta

The success of the LIVE LOVE Event would not be possible without our wonderful volunteers and our
partnering organizations – and we thank you! As we continue through our second year of LIVE LOVE
Events, we encourage you to learn more about these partnering organizations and how you can serve
them on a consistent basis.
