We have known about Google Chrome OS for some time now, but we only got a detailed look at the new operating system at a Google event yesterday. We learned a lot from the event, the thing that shocked us the most was how you will not be able to download Chrome OS onto any machine.

We know that Google have partnered with a number of computer manufactures, only these netbooks and laptops will have the new OS installed. However, we did learn that an open source version of Google Chrome OS was made available for download on Thursday.

PC World reports that those who know there way around a computer did not take long in turning the code into something that can work on almost any computer. If you do not want to wait until late next year, then PC World have all the details on how to download and run Google Chrome OS now.

We already know that Google Chrome will not work on any machine; it is for that reason why you have to install the new operating system on a virtual machine. There are two ways how you can do these, use Virtual Box or VMware Player, both have versions for Windows or Mac.

As we get ever closer to Black Friday 2009 there will be a phrase that you will be hearing all the more, ‘Doorbuster’ deals. These deals are specials for each retail store; these could be from TVs, Laptops, Cameras, Washing Machines, Toys and much more. Stores have limited stocks of these, but can have massive price drops.

The big four retail giants, Best Buy, Kmart, Target and Wal-Mart will all be offering some amazing doorbuster deals, let us take a closer look at each retailers ads to see what we think will be popular this Black Friday.

The first up is Best Buy; we can already see what products are going to prove popular. The first deal is this Sony PlayStation 3 Package; this comes with a 120G hard drive, a controller, Little Big Planet, and Ratchet And Clank. The price is just $299.99. Another popular deal will be the Samsung UN46B6000VF, this 46-inch LED TV offers Full HD 1080p and 120Hz technology. The retail price is normally $2,499.99; the doorbuster deal is just $1599.99. Kmart do not want to be left out, they have 468 items up for sale on Black Friday with a huge percentage of them being doorbusters. Do not think that it is just household items, electrical items or toys being offered in these deals, and the DieHard 2/40/200 amp Manual Battery Charger is a fine example of this. The normal retail price is $119.99; the doorbuster special is just $69.99.

Another good deal has to be the Delstar 7 Inch Wireless Netbook 05 Windows CE, was $149.99 and will be marked down to $119.99. More Kmart deals.

Target are offering the Garmin Nuvi 1350T GPS System for just $179.00, thats $100 of the standard price. There is also the Apex LD4088 40″ Full HD LCD TV, was $599.99, now only $449.00. More Target doorbuster deals.

Over the last few weeks we have posted a lot of Black Friday deals for HDTV’s however we have not heard about any deals regarding Vizio displays.

It seems that all of the Vizio deals will be available from warehouse chains such as Costco and Sam’s Club, instead of the other popular outlets like Best Buy, Walmart and Target.

The majority of the deals will take place at Costco, according to a recent article posted on ZDNet it seems that they will be offering a wide-range of products.

One of which is Vizio’s first Blu-ray player, the Blu-ray player is called the VBR110 and will set you back $99.99 (comes with a free HDMI cable), although this is not as cheap as the recent Magnavox NB500MG1F it is manufactured my a more reputable company.

Other Vizio deals at Costco include a 55 inch 1080p LCD (VF550M) for $1,199.99, which is $300 cheaper than usual. One deal that may prove to be popular will be for a Vizio VO320E 32 inch 720p HDTV, this will sell for $339.99, to see all of the deals check out ZDNet.

We recently reported that Sony were in talks with Mozilla to implement its Firefox browser on the PS3. We had all assumed this rumor to be true as it did not seem that too far fetched, but Mozilla have responded.

Bored of all the rumors ps3center.net thought that they would go direct to Mozilla and ask them directly, just to see if there was any truth to the rumors. They replied by saying “Nope - not sure how that rumor got started but it’s been keeping us busy all day :)”

Well it seems that this is one of the latest rumors to be found untrue, I wonder what rumor will be next, maybe the so-called Apple Tablet, even PC World thinks that this does not exist.

This is not the first time that the original source of the story has been proved wrong. The source that started the rumor actually said that this news would be announced at GamesCom; I wonder what they will come up with next?

With the recent console updates which have enabled Facebook on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, we are starting to see peoples likes and dislikes about the new additions, and there does seem to be quite a few dislikes.

One of the first complaints we have heard was recently posted on IGN, this particular writer hates the way that Sony have integrated the PS3’s Trophy system with Facebook, the article writer also feels that the limited functionality for the PS3 version is frustrating.

In Sony’s defence they have stated that this version of Facebook for the PS3 is the “first phase”, therefore current functionality only allows you to “post purchase information, game events, and Trophy information to your Facebook profile”.

The Xbox 360’s Facebook is said to be a much more enjoyable experience, it is said to allow almost all of the functionality that most customers require, for more information check out IGN’s article.

Microsoft must feel that they need more members to subscribe to their Xbox LIVE Gold package, which is why they have decided to offer the subscription for free. The offer for free access to Xbox Live Gold runs from today until Monday, so you had better sign in.

According to PC World, the membership normally costs $50 for a year; this will give Xbox 360 users full access to Facebook, Twitter, Last FM, online multiplayer and so much more. Oh sorry did we forget to mention Netflix for streaming movies and TV shows.

For those with a silver Xbox Live account, then you do not need to waste valuable gaming time by registering your details. You will still have to offer a few details though, such as online gamer profiles.

This means that Xbox 360 users will spend the whole of their weekend on their console, so do not expect to see your loved ones much. Funny how Microsoft did not choose next weekend to offer access to Xbox Live Gold, maybe this has something to do with Black Friday.

While at an event in Palm Springs, Autoblog had the chance to take a test drive in the new 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander GT CUV., which was previously seen at the NY Auto Show. They also tested other vehicles, but it was the Outlander GT that they were more interested in, and for good reason.

Autoblog goes on to explain that this latest CUV has plenty of ground clearance, and offers a refreshed feel over previous models. The GT has a number of feature changes, such as its trim level, interior and exterior, engines and gadgets.

The 2009 Outlander was good, but good does not sell well so Mitsubishi wanted to make the 2010 version exiting. There is a problem though, this has not been achieved, but it still is a vast improvement over the 2009 model.

The first change that you will notice is with its nose, looking a lot like the Lancer Evolution X. Not sure why they would do this though, it is not as if the younger generation will but the Outlander GT.

We now have just one week to go until Black Friday 2009, and the most popular deals are always TVs. This year will be no different and Sears have proved this with the huge amount of television doorbusters. Read more on the truth about doorbuster deals in our recent article.

Let us take a closer look at what TVs Sears has to offer. There are 28 TVs up for offer on Black Friday, 14 of which are doorbusters. The television doorbuster deals range from $180 to $1310. Just make sure you are in line early, as these deals are normally limited to 5 per store.

It looks as if Microsoft are getting into the Black Friday spirit too, as the company has just announced a few special deals that they will be offering for Xbox 360 owners over the thanksgiving weekend.

As reported from VG247, Microsoft will be handing out discounts on certain titles as part of their ‘Deals of the Week’ specials. From November 23rd, you’ll be able to pick up Fable II: See the Future for just 400 Microsoft Points, while Peggle and Death Tank will be priced at 400 and 800 MS Points respectively.

The following week, starting from November 30th, you’ll be able to pick up the classic Sonic the Hedgehog 2 game for only 240 MS points, which is a bargain you have to say.

Aside from that, Microsoft will also be adding new titles to their ‘Games on Demand’ service and a new title for Xbox Live Arcade in the way of Madden NFL Arcade - available from November 25th.

We have some good news for customers on Virgin Mobile in Canada now, as you too, will be receiving some iPhone love after an official announcement has just been confirmed.

As reported from BGR, it looks as if Richard Branson has waved his magic wand, as expected early next year - both the iPhone 3G and 3GS will be available for customers.

At the moment, no further details have been released, no dates, no tariffs or anything. A detailed announcement is due shortly though, so we’ll be sure to inform you if Virgin Mobile hand out any relevant details.

Every week there seems to be another recall, if it is not a toy it is a car or SUV. We have recently had recalls from Ford and Toyota and the latest recall is the Jeep Wrangler, models built from 2007 to 2008. The reason that Chrysler is recalling these vehicles is the fact that its transmission could overheat.

Chrysler who is working closely with the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) over potential transmission overheating problems has said that 161,450 of these SUVs will be affected by the recall.

The NHTSA said that if these vehicles were not fitted with a transmission fluid temperature warning system, then the transmission oil could overheat and in some cases boil over. If this hot oil was to come in contact with the hot exhaust system, then a fire could occur.

When you take your vehicle to your nearest dealer, they will inspect and then install an oil warning light in the instrument cluster. The dealer will also fit an audio warning chime, warning you if the oil begins to get too hot.

Black Friday starts in one week therefore its not too long until some of the Black Friday deals start, we thought it would be useful to highlight some of the upcoming deals and inform you of when they become live.

A couple of months back we mentioned pricing and release details of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness, now Engadget have gotten hold off one and decided to offer a hands-on. They begin by saying that the cell phone has an impractical design and seems a bit pointless.

It is no secret that Engadget have a problem with the Pureness, saying that they seemed to have a lot of trouble trying to make things out with the semi-translucent monochrome screen. To make it easier to read, they had to move the phone around so there was a different backdrop.

Engadget have described the latest Sony Ericsson offering as another “Java-happy dumbphone.” Also the amount of buttons begins to make the handset look a bit crowded. If you like to text, then you are going to love the buttons, but most other users will not.

Engadget thought that they would put the phone to test by playing Pacman, which you can view on their video below. The handset has a nice finish to it, with some of the materials used giving it a luxury feel.

Sony Ericsson is to sell this phone to the fashion-conscious people in the U.S., hence why Saks online store will be selling it.

When most people decided to choose a 64-bit version of Windows over a 32-bit version their reasoning is usually performance-based, however according to a recent article on ComputerWorld there could be another reason.

It seems that 64-bit versions of Windows are less susceptible to becoming infected by attack code, this doesn’t mean its impossible, just less likely than a 32-bit OS.

A Microsoft Malware Protection Center representative recently released the following statements”64-bit Windows has some of the lowest reported malware infection rates in the first half of 2009,” and added “64-bit malware is still exceedingly rare in the wild.”

Statistics state that a 64-bit version of Windows XP would be 48 percent less likely of becoming infected than a 32-bit version of Windows XP, also a 64-bit version of Windows Vista would be 35 percent less likely of becoming infected than a 32-bit version of Windows Vista.

Windows 7 was not included in this research as most of it was carried out before the launch of the OS, however given the trend between previous OS version it would seem that a 64-bit version would be more secure, for more information check out ComputerWorld.

Black Friday 2009 will be tougher than ever on both retailers and shoppers. The retailers needs to make certain that they get the shoppers in their stores, and shoppers have to queue up for hours knowing that the item they want could run out of stock. Those great deals that we talk about are called doorbuster deals, and are not what they seem.

CNN Money has been looking into this and thought they would offer us an insight. We have to make certain that we read the small print on these doorbuster deals; this will normally be at the bottom of the circular. These products are usually limited to just two per store, so the odds of you getting that so called bargain are not in your favor.

We know that this upsets shoppers and this is the sole cause of many arguments in stores on Back Friday, as they fight to be able to get that elusive deal before anyone else.

Details have recently emerged on SlashGear regarding one of Intel’s future Atom platforms, this platform is called the Cedarview platform and isn’t expected to debut until 2011.

The main attraction with this recently announced platform is that it will feature a DDR3-compatible memory controller, however it is thought that one limitation will be that only single-channel memory sticks will be supported.

The support for DDR3 memory will open up new possibilities for new netbooks and nettops and should be a real successor to the Pinetrail processors.

Some good news for PC owners looking to pick up the forthcoming Aliens Vs Predator title, as Rebellion has confirmed that the game ‘will’ feature dedicated servers - firmly ending speculation that it wouldn’t.

As reported from VG247, Rebellion’s CEO Jason Kingsley confirmed the news himself, stating that it was ‘always’ the team’s intention to include dedicated servers into Aliens Vs Predator - that will teach you for reading too much into rumors, Billy.

He added how they really enjoy the fan support that they are currently getting, and conceded that the team are looking forward to the release of the game, as much as fans are.

During out recent trip to EuroGamer we were lucky enough to get our hands on Battlefield: Bad Company 2, we played a multi-player game and we were pretty impressed.

Sadly we weren’t allowed to video any of our footage, however a multi-player trailer has recently shown up on Joystiq, this trailer can also been seen at the end of this post.

The online gameplay was much the same as previous versions of the Battlefield franchise we had played, we played the game on the Xbox 360 and the graphics were great and extremely smooth.
