We recently reported that Sony were in talks with Mozilla to implement its Firefox browser on the PS3. We had all assumed this rumor to be true as it did not seem that too far fetched, but Mozilla have responded.

Bored of all the rumors ps3center.net thought that they would go direct to Mozilla and ask them directly, just to see if there was any truth to the rumors. They replied by saying “Nope - not sure how that rumor got started but it’s been keeping us busy all day :)”

Well it seems that this is one of the latest rumors to be found untrue, I wonder what rumor will be next, maybe the so-called Apple Tablet, even PC World thinks that this does not exist.

This is not the first time that the original source of the story has been proved wrong. The source that started the rumor actually said that this news would be announced at GamesCom; I wonder what they will come up with next?

With the recent console updates which have enabled Facebook on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, we are starting to see peoples likes and dislikes about the new additions, and there does seem to be quite a few dislikes.

One of the first complaints we have heard was recently posted on IGN, this particular writer hates the way that Sony have integrated the PS3’s Trophy system with Facebook, the article writer also feels that the limited functionality for the PS3 version is frustrating.

In Sony’s defence they have stated that this version of Facebook for the PS3 is the “first phase”, therefore current functionality only allows you to “post purchase information, game events, and Trophy information to your Facebook profile”.

The Xbox 360’s Facebook is said to be a much more enjoyable experience, it is said to allow almost all of the functionality that most customers require, for more information check out IGN’s article.

Microsoft must feel that they need more members to subscribe to their Xbox LIVE Gold package, which is why they have decided to offer the subscription for free. The offer for free access to Xbox Live Gold runs from today until Monday, so you had better sign in.

According to PC World, the membership normally costs $50 for a year; this will give Xbox 360 users full access to Facebook, Twitter, Last FM, online multiplayer and so much more. Oh sorry did we forget to mention Netflix for streaming movies and TV shows.

For those with a silver Xbox Live account, then you do not need to waste valuable gaming time by registering your details. You will still have to offer a few details though, such as online gamer profiles.

This means that Xbox 360 users will spend the whole of their weekend on their console, so do not expect to see your loved ones much. Funny how Microsoft did not choose next weekend to offer access to Xbox Live Gold, maybe this has something to do with Black Friday.

It looks as if Microsoft are getting into the Black Friday spirit too, as the company has just announced a few special deals that they will be offering for Xbox 360 owners over the thanksgiving weekend.

As reported from VG247, Microsoft will be handing out discounts on certain titles as part of their ‘Deals of the Week’ specials. From November 23rd, you’ll be able to pick up Fable II: See the Future for just 400 Microsoft Points, while Peggle and Death Tank will be priced at 400 and 800 MS Points respectively.

The following week, starting from November 30th, you’ll be able to pick up the classic Sonic the Hedgehog 2 game for only 240 MS points, which is a bargain you have to say.

Aside from that, Microsoft will also be adding new titles to their ‘Games on Demand’ service and a new title for Xbox Live Arcade in the way of Madden NFL Arcade - available from November 25th.

Some good news for PC owners looking to pick up the forthcoming Aliens Vs Predator title, as Rebellion has confirmed that the game ‘will’ feature dedicated servers - firmly ending speculation that it wouldn’t.

As reported from VG247, Rebellion’s CEO Jason Kingsley confirmed the news himself, stating that it was ‘always’ the team’s intention to include dedicated servers into Aliens Vs Predator - that will teach you for reading too much into rumors, Billy.

He added how they really enjoy the fan support that they are currently getting, and conceded that the team are looking forward to the release of the game, as much as fans are.

During out recent trip to EuroGamer we were lucky enough to get our hands on Battlefield: Bad Company 2, we played a multi-player game and we were pretty impressed.

Sadly we weren’t allowed to video any of our footage, however a multi-player trailer has recently shown up on Joystiq, this trailer can also been seen at the end of this post.

The online gameplay was much the same as previous versions of the Battlefield franchise we had played, we played the game on the Xbox 360 and the graphics were great and extremely smooth.

An early Amazon Black Friday deal has recently shown up on I4UNews, this deal involves getting a free EA Sports game when you buy a PS3.

Sony has confirmed that the PSP version of LittleBigPlanet will be available to purchase on the PS store in Europe, but U.S PSP owners will have to wait for the game to appear on their store, for the time being.

As reported from Eurogamer, the retail copy of LBP on the PSP is already out in America and is now available in Europe as of today. But those wishing to pick up a digital copy of the game in the U.S will have to wait for further announcements from Sony.

If you’re in Europe though, you have no problems as the game is available to download for £21.99, should be up there now actually.

With the recent release of Assassin’s Creed II on both Xbox 360 and PS3 many gamers are beginning to argue what console the game looks better on.

At the recent EuroGamer EXPO I attended, a Ubisoft representative stated that the graphics on both consoles are identical, however according to a recent article posted on Joystiq this may not be the case.

Although side by side there is not much difference between the two versions according to Joystiq the Xbox 360’s version has the slight edge, this is due to its smoother performance and sharper picture.

I only managed to play the PS3 version at EuroGamer therefore I cannot really comment, the graphics looked great on the PS3 however I do not have a HD setup at home so its bound to look great.

It has been strongly rumored courtesy of a new video via YouTube, that Modern Warfare 2 contains no fewer than ‘three’ extra multiplayer game modes, all of which are already contained in the game’s code.

As reported from VG247, it looks as if hackers have worked their magic, somehow, and have posted the video for all to see.

The new mulitplayer modes are Global Thermonuclear War - where teams have to capture and secure a nuclear bomb before the opposing team. The second is One Flag CTF - similar to Capture the Flag, while the third is VIP - protect the VIP, or Kill the VIP if you’re on the other team.

The video states that the new game modes were only tested on the Afghan and Favela maps, so make your own conclusions on that.

Could we be possibly seeing ‘paid’ DLC that is already with the game code, Resident Evil 5 style? Too early to tell we think. Still though, the video looks legit to us, check it out below.

Last week we heard how over 600,000 Xbox 360’s had been banned by Microsoft for piracy, this number is now apprently close to 1 million consoles, which as you can imagine has left many customers disgruntled.

A high number of these customers have accepted they have done wrong and decided to purchase a new console and play legitimate games, some have decided to switch to PS3 and some are still moaning.

A law-firm called AbingtonIP are organizing a class action lawsuit, the lawsuit basically claims that Microsoft over-reacted and used this as an opportunity to exploit the popularity of Modern Warfare 2 and Halo: ODST.

Personally I feel that Microsoft were well within their rights to take the action they did, and I feel that most customers have probably saved hundreds or thousands of dollars on games over the years, therefore they should not now complain, find out more on SlashGear.

In a recent business meeting, SCE boss Kaz Hirai has reassured PS3 owners that online gaming will remain ‘free’, although the company are planning to introduce various subscription avenues in exchange for premium content.

As reported from VG247, Hirai explained that changes will be coming in the ‘online area’ specifically, where a subsciption service will be available ‘along’ with the current free services.

As you would expect, no more details on this were revealed, so its a case of waiting to see what Sony have in the pipeline i guess.

But this ‘is’ good news don’t forget. PS3 online gaming remains free and Sony are not planning on changing that at the moment.

Considering the long list of problems that occured for some of our readers in firmware update 3.01, we would like to know if anyone is experiencing any problems after the update.

We ask this, as we have had requests from our readers asking if the new update has solved the disc reading errors that a lot of you were reporting after 3.01, so how is everything looking for you?

As far as we know, this is still an isolated case which is only affecting a few of you, but we still thought we’d ask you for your feedback following the new update.

Good news for Xbox 360 owners now, as it has been confirmed that those who pre-order the upcoming Aliens Vs Predator game from GameStop will receive some bonus content in the way of exclusive multiplayer skins.

As reported from Joystiq, pre-order customers will receive as many as three multiplayer skins to choose from. These include Sgt. Kaneko, Number Six and the Alien Head Predator.

Don’t ask us who they are, as it looks like these guys have some deep history within the AvP universe. You are best off heading to the GameStop page where you’ll find more details on this.

It seems as if GameStop are getting a bit of a reputation for their pre-order goodies, long may it continue we say!

If you were pondering picking up a copy of the newly released Tropico 3 on the Xbox 360, you might want to hold out a little longer as Kalypso Media has just released a demo onto the Live Marketplace for you to try out.

As reported from Eurogamer, the demo is only available for Gold subscribers today, as those of you with Silver accounts will have to wait until November 25th.

Those of you with Gold accounts though, will be able to sample a few levels from the game, as well as go through the tutorial so you get to grips with the basics.

Left 4 Dead 2 has only been available for a few days now, but we are already hearing rumors that DLC could be on the way - after a teaser website has been setup by Valve themselves.

As reported from CVG, the website features an image of the ‘Midnight Riders’, who are a band featured in Left 4 Dead 2. Combined with the image, is the words ‘coming soon’ - so doesnt take a genius to put two and two together on this one.

Anyone who has the game will know that the Midnight Riders are plastered all over the game, so we wouldn’t be surprised if they were heavily featured in the first DLC package.

Still though, its just a teaser website and nothing else has been announced by Valve. CVG are currently pressing them for a comment, so we’ll update you if we hear more.

If you own a copy of Borderlands on either the Xbox 360 or PS3, you better listen up, as we have full details and prices for the first DLC package for the game, due out next week.

As reported from Eurogamer, the DLC content will be known as ”The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned” and will provide around 6 extra hours of gameplay. Goodie.

Borderlands Design Director Paul Helqist has explained that the new island will be roughly the same size as the Arid Badlands. The content will be catered for players over level 10 and over - meaning that your foe’s difficulty will vary depending on your level.

It has been reported that Sony are planning to add as many as 50 movies per week to their new PS3 Video Delivery Service - expected to go live today for European PS3 owners.

As reported from VG247, SCEE boss Andrew House confirmed the figure himself in a recent interview. He stated how the European Video Store will start off with a strong offering, with many of the latest movie releases available on launch day.

We have to say we’re pretty impressed actually. 2000 movies on launch is a nice figure, so with 50 added each week, it looks as if Europeans will finally have a movie store on par with the U.S.

As for prices, you’ll have to pay £3.49 (HD Rental), £2.99 (SD Rental) and from £8.99 to buy an SD movie. At the moment, HD films are only available to rent.

Many of us knew that the new Sony PS3 firmware update 3.10 was coming, but we can now report that it has now gone live. Sony have now released full details of all the changes that come with version 3.10, while you read more about the updates you had best turn your PlayStation 3 on now and get downloading.

The first and most awaited feature is allowing access to a number of Facebook features. This is done via XMB. Some of these features include automatically sending updates when more trophies are unlocked and when your profile changes when downloading from PSN.

Other changes include a redesign of the Friends list, expansion of the photo folders, Grid display for your playlists rather than showing in a list. User can now change their color of their profile.

According to a recent article posted on PlayStationInsider it seems that Sony may well be in talks with Mozilla, possibly meaning that we may one-day see a Mozilla based web browser on the PlayStation 3 in the future.

PlayStationInsider believe that the source who has leaked the story is a very reliable source who works very closely to Sony.

Since the PlayStation 3 release one consistent complaint has been with the consoles web browser, given Mozilla’s success with their Firefox browser it would be no surprise if Sony are seeking some of Mozilla’s expertise.

It is unclear whether a deal has already been made or if negotiations are still in progress, as we find out more we will keep you informed.
