Black Friday 2009 is just over a week away now, so is the perfect time to start looking at all those ads that have already started to appear online. Best Buy is always a good bet and looking at their ad we can see that the Garmin nüvi 205 Portable GPS looks to be a good deal.

The model number for this GPS device is NUVI205WHIT and has a normal retail price of $199.99, but the Black Friday sale price will be just $99.99, that’s a saving of $100. Now satellite navigations has just got a lot cheaper.

The Garmin nüvi 205 comes with turn-by-turn voice directions, this makes it much easier to take you to your desired destination. The GPS system comes with a 2.5-inch touchscreen interface, the display is bright making it much easier to see day or nighttime.

It has been reported that power-hungry television sets are to be banned in California, following a recent state legislation which aims to cut down on energy consumption.

According to this article from the BBC, California will be the first state to receive a ‘mandatory’ ban on television sets, with the Californian Energy Commission requiring 58 inch models (147cm) be more energy efficient by 2011 - which will result in a 33% less energy consumption.

It may seem drastic to some, but others are all for the move, as it will end up saving residents more than $8bn over 10 years in energy costs.

By the time 2013 lands, regulators will step it up further, by requiring TV sets to be 50% more efficient than they are now.

What are your thoughts on this? Now that California has been targeted with the change, it will be interesting to see which other states soon follow.

Casio have recently unveiled their latest digital camera, the camera is called the EX-G1 and is said to be the “World’s Slimmest Shock-Resistant Camera”.

This camera has a rugged design which is said to be waterproof, shock-resistant and dustproof, not only is this camera rugged but it also offers many of the same features you would expect to see in standard digital cameras released today.

The camera features a 12.1 megapixel sensor which has the ability to record video in widescreen at 848×480, despite its ruggedness and its impressive specifications it is just 0.78 inches thin.

Other specifications worth mentioning include the cameras 2.5inch display, the 3x zoom and the camera’s microSD/SDHC memory card slot.

During our recent Walmart Black Friday deal posts we have briefly mentioned their GPS deals, however we have not really gone into detail about the deals.

The two GPS systems that are being offered at a cheap price during the Black Friday period are both TomTom devices, one of which is the “TomTom One 125 Portable GPS with 3.5 inch Touch Screen“, this is currently selling at $98 (reduced from $119.95), however during the Black Friday period it will be available for just $59.

This TomTom features a 3.5 inch color touchscreen display which supports a resolution of 320×240, it comes with U.S. maps preinstalled on the devices internal memory and offers up to 3 hours of battery life., find out more here.

The other TomTom is the “TomTom 4.3 inch XL 325 GPS Navigation System“, currently Walmart are selling the unit for $129.00, however during the Black Friday period it will be available for just $89.

Which TomTom will you buy?

Cisco who purchased Pure Digital at the beginning of the year has announced that its next-generation Flip camcorder will come with Wi-Fi. Engadget explains that this has come as no surprise and was an obvious evolution of the device. The new device should go on sale by the first half of 2010.

According to Pocket-Lint, this will be the first Flip device to benefit from Cisco’s networking technology. There is not much to go on at the moment, but Pocket-Lint was informed that the new Flip camcorder would come with a larger screen, which has a sliding feature.

When a user slides the screen, menu buttons are revealed, these allow you to then take control of the device allowing you to record your video. In a way to keep costs low, Cisco has decided to steer away from touchscreen technology.

The inclusion of Wi-Fi will allow a user to record a video and then upload it directly to another device sharing the network. This is a feature that has proved successful on a number of digital cameras.

Back in late August we introduced you to the Sony Reader Daily Edition, at the time we suspected that the device will be available sometime in December for approximately $400.

As it turns out our predictions turned out to be correct as you can now pre-order the Sony Reader Daily Edition for $399.99, the device will ship December 18th through to January 8th.

Many believe that this device could be a real threat to the Kindle, not only due to pricing but also due to functionality, the Daily Edition is said to offer up to 2.5 weeks of battery life from a single charge and supports a wide range of file formats which include “PDF, Word, BBeB, ePub and other text formats”.

The device itself features a 7 inch monochrome e-ink display and also has integrated 3G connectivity, to get the most out of the battery life it is thought that the 3G connectivity will need to be turned off.

With just nine days to go until Black Friday 2009, some retailers have decided to show us early what deals they will be offering, while some decide to keep us guessing. What we do know is Blu-ray players will be popular again this year, we recently learned that Walmart will be offering the Magnavox NB500MG1F Bonus View Blu-ray player for just $78.00.

Let us take a look at a few of the deals that we already know about, although other retailers will be hard pushed to match that low price set by Wal-Mart. How about the Insignia NS-BRDVD3 Blu-ray player. The normal selling price is $149.99, but Best Buy will be offering it for just $99.99.

Meijer are offering the Sylvania Blu-ray for just $89.99. The other Blu-ray players that we can find are not as cheap, but that is because they are of a much higher quality.

These include the Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray Disc Player with 1080p Output, was $179.99, but will cost $149.99 in the Black Friday sale, more details can be found here. RadioShack have a deal on the Samsung BD-P1600 Blu-ray Disc Player, was $199.99, but will cost just $149.99, that’s $50 of the normal selling price

Sony has just announced the launch of their brand new lineup of Micro Vault flash drives. The new models will be available in ranging capacities and will be available to buy from retailers and online in January.

As reported from Pocket-Lint, the Micro Vault drives will come in 4GB - 32GB capacities and will feature full compatibility with the newly released Windows 7 software.

Sony are calling them ‘extremely robust’ and will feature a retractable connector - eliminating the possibility of you losing the front cap - (Its happened to everyone right?).

As for the interface, expect the usual ‘drag and drop’ functions that you have grown to love, so look out for this one in January if you are interested.

A couple of days ago the Walmart Black Friday 2009 Ad had been leaked on the Internet, those who posted the ad scan were forced to take it down, but this has not stopped people learning what deals they will be offering. One of the most popular items will be the Sanyo DP5074750-inch plasma 720p HDTV.

According to CNN, Wal-Mart are currently selling the TV for $898.00, if the rumors are true then the Black Friday offer on the TV will be just $598. If you want this TV then make sure you are in the queue for 5 a.m. on November 27.

The Sanyo DP5074750-inch plasma only offers 720p HD display, but the quality of the picture is still much better than Standard Definition. There are a number of inputs, including HDMI, ideal for connecting up your Sony PS3 and other similar devices.

The TV comes with a massive 50-inch screen; so make certain that you have enough space in your room before you go ahead and queue up for hours to get it. The 8,000:1 contrast ratio seems a little low, but it will still offer vivid colors, blacks and whites.

Black Friday 2009 is going to be the same as the deals last year in two ways, the most popular products will be TVs and the other is that Target and Walmart will be offering some of the biggest deals. We thought we would take a look at a few of the TVs they have up for offer.

The first one and the most popular looks to be a Sanyo 50-inch plasma TV, this 720p television is on offer at Walmart for just $598, which we already covered in a recent post.

Another three TVs that could do very well include the Sony Bravia KDL46S504 46-inch LCD Full HD for just $798. The Emerson PL-P42W-10A 42-inch Plasma 720P HDTV, the price is just $448. Finally Walmart also has the Emerson LC320EMFX 32-inch Plasma 720p HDTV, the price is just $248.

Let us take a look at a few TVs from Target to see how they compare. The first TV that could do very well is the Westernhouse 32-inch LCD TV; this can be yours for just $246, a saving of more than $180. We have some great news for those of you living in Canada now, as Amazon has finally decided to start shipping their popular Kindle reader to Canadian homes.

As reported from BGR, the release in Canada has been long overdue, with American consumers having had the first generation device for a few years now.

That said and done, Canadians will now be able to purchase a Kindle from the Amazon website, where you’ll see it listed for $259 USD ($275 CDN).

If e-books are your sort of thing, the Kindle is a no-brainer really, with a estimated 300,000 books available from the word go.

Leica have recently confirmed that they will soon be releasing another limited edition camera, this camera is a collaboration between Leica and Hermes.

These companies have previously collaborated with another limited edition camera, the camera they have decided to manufacture is the Leica M7 Hermes Edition.

In total there will be 200 cameras manufactured, 100 of these will be orange and 100 of these will be green, the camera is finished with silver chrome, check out SlipperyBrick for more information.

We have not yet heard any details regarding the specifications, however as we find out more information we will keep you informed.

One thing we do know is that the camera will be released in the UK in December, however it will set you back a whopping £8,550, which is roughly the equivalent of $14,300.

We mentioned in a recent post that Walmart’s Black Friday Ad had been leaked onto the Internet. This is a big deal as people will now try their hardest to get information on some of the products that will be on sale, such as the Magnavox NB500MG1F Bonus View Blu-ray player for just $78.00.

This is a huge saving, but this is not the first time that Walmart have offered such a huge discount on a Blu-ray player. Last year the retail giant offered a Magnavox Blu-ray player for $128, much the same as the one on offer for 2009. This latest offer is a massive $50 cheaper than the previous deal.

According to Blu-ray.com, stocks will be limited so you had better make sure that you show up at your local store early. It is a good idea to run a check by zip code to make certain that your Wal-Mart have the Magnavox NB500MG1F in stock.

Wal-Mart are not happy that their Black Friday 2009 Ad has been leaked on the Internet, which is why their lawyers asked DVD Talk to take down the scans of their ads.

We are not certain if the ad is genuine or not, we will just have to wait to see what happens from now. If last year is anything to go by, then Wal-Mart will release their ad on the week running up to Black Friday.

We have recently come across some more impressive Black Friday deals, these deals are being offered by Staples on a range of Nikon Coolpix cameras.

One of these cameras is the Nikon Coolpix L100, this camera is selling for $199.99, the camera features a 10 megapixel sensor and has a 15x optical zoom. One other thing worth mentioning is its bright 3 inch high-res LCD, for full details follow this link.
