The new Bang & Olufsen BeoTime looks like a musical instrument, but it is fact an alarm clock come remote control. The device from the audio experts has a huge number of tricks, but it needs to have for its £300 price tag, ouch.

The Bang & Olufsen BeoTime is a wireless alarm clock that also allows you to control your Bang & Olufsen’s home entertainment system, yes ok a remote control. The device has a built-in alarm tone allowing you to choose which tone you wish to be woken up too.

The BeoTime can also switch on your BeoVision 10 TV, or sound system, the device is very small but very clever. The BeoTime is very light as it is made from aluminum, and the D-pad has a nice quality feel to it, again, it needs to have for the price.

There are three small screens that are all backlit and will dim depending on the ambient light. The Bang & Olufsen BeoTime even has an internal accelerometer, so it knows which way to set the screens. For more information and to view a host of photos, visit Electric Pig.

Earlier today we briefly introduced you to a new device made by Peek, this device is a dedicated Twitter device which is called the TwitterPeek, a review has now shown up on SlashGear.

The review however has not came back to favorably, the review was actually carried out by PC Mag and can be seen here.

One problem with the device is the fact that all Tweets are truncated, therefore require a user to select a particular Tweet to view it, I would imagine this would become very annoying very fast, another problem occurs when you choose to follow someone on Twitter, you can only see Tweet’s made since following the user, any Tweet’s prior to this are invisible to you.

There are a lot more problems with device, including lack of search functionality and the overall speed of the device, all in all it seems that the functionality this dedicated device offers is perhaps worse then smartphone applications offer, check out SlashGear for more.

We have a hands-on review for you to read now, on the recently released update for Apple TV. Version 3.0 gives you a selection of new features for you to play around with, most notably a big interface makeover for the main menu, as well as support for iTunes LP.

For those of you who are regular users of the Apple TV service, you’ll be interested to know that Apple are planning to update the service to version 3.0, adding new functionality and a few new features along the way.

As reported from Apple Insider, Apple have altered the terms and conditions for iTunes, which is clear indication that an update is on the way soon.

Two new features that have been confirmed is support for iTunes LP and iTunes Extras content. iTunes LP, which was announced at their recent media event, encourages users to purchase full albums, by offering bonus and extra content that you wouldn’t normally get when purchasing somewhere else.

ASUS have recently confirmed that they will be releasing a few different ebook readers in 2010, it is thought that these ebook readers will launch in March 2010.

It looks as if there will be three different versions of the ebook reader, one of them has WiFi connectivity, one has 3G connectivity and the other uses WIMAX, these eReaders are expected to be officially announced before the end of 2009.

Other rumors have reported that ASUS will release two differnet size models, one of which will feature a 6 inch display, the other will feature a 9 inch display.

The price of Blu-ray devices is at last beginning to become extremely affordable, so much so that JVC have now announced a sub $200 Blu-ray player.

The new model is called the JVC XV-BP11, the device supports wide range of media, which includes BD-Rom, BD-R/RE, DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, Audio CD, CD-R/RW discs, it also supports AVCHD file playback.

Other features allow the Blu-ray player to play back a wide range of file formats for videos/pictures and audio, the player also has a USB port on the front to allow direct connection.

Belkin have recently voluntarily recalled several models of their SurgeMaster surge protectors, the reason for the recall is said to be because due to a risk of electric shock.

The models which are being recalled were all built in 2003 and sold between September 2003 through to December 2007 for around $50, there are said to be 68,700 affected surge protectors in all.

According to SlashGear the exact reason for the recall is to do with the 360-degree rotating power outlets, over time these can deteriorate and then cause a risk of electric shock.

When it comes to budget DSLR cameras, Pentax certainly has that market covered, and the release of the Pentax K-x is yet another fine example of that. Tech Radar has been spending some time with the new camera and thought they would offer their readers an extensive review.

They start off by letting us know that the Pentax K-x is a DSLR for beginners, so means that it is simple to use and will not break the bank. The price is just £599, that does sound a lot at first, but you have to consider how much camera you are getting for that price.

The Pentax K-x and the Pentax K-m look very much the same when side-by-side, they both have a 2.7-inch LCD screen and the button layouts also look the same. However, the similarities end there, all the hardware inside is different.

The Pentax K-x comes with the PRIME II engine and an upgraded 12.4MP sensor. The new camera’s sensor is a CMOS chip, this allows for HD Video. Read Tech Radar’s review and their final thoughts on the Pentax K-x.

Coby Electronics have been forced to recall one of their popular portable DVD palyers, the models affected are 8.5 inch players with this model number (TF-DVD-8501), the company are also recalling rechargeable batteries which were sold with the DVD players.

The reason for the recall is because there have been approximately 10 reports of batteries overheating, this has led to eight fires which have caused property damage.

So far there have been no injuries caused by these fires, however both Coby Electronics and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission feel it is necessary to recall the products.

Last week we showed you some leaked photos of Barnes & Noble’s upcoming e-reader, at the time of this post we believed the device was surrounded by rumors, however now some of these rumors can be confirmed.

According to a recent article on SlipperyBrick (who sourced their information from TheWallStreetJournal) it seems that the e-reader will be known as the Nook.

One pretty unique feature that seems to be being offered with the ‘Nook’ is that it allows users lend e-books to friends, exact details on how this will work are currently unknown.

As for pricing and release date the device is expected to cost $259 and should be available from Tuesday, I’m sure over the next few days the remaining details will be revealed to us, as we hear more we will keep you posted, checkout SlipperyBrick for more information.

There had been rumors that Canon were to skip four in its camera range, but the recent announcement of the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV has proved otherwise. Canon has launched a website for the new camera and has offered us a few spec details as well as two videos.

Engadget have been taking a closer look to see what is new with the EOS-1D Mark IV. The first thing that you need to know is its 16.1 megapixel APS-H CMOS sensor. This is just the start; it gets better from here such as its ISO range of 100 to 12,800 native, which goes up to 102,400. This is hitting on Nikon territory.

Other features include 45-point area customizable autofocus, dual Digic 4 processors, Wi-Fi, 1080p HD video and much more. The new camera is due out in December, with a price estimated at $4,999. That price is for the body only.

We know that the details are somewhat vague, so why not watch a couple of videos of the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV to give you a better insight of the new camera.

Back in July we very briefly mentioned Plastic Logic’s upcoming eReader, since this post there has been a severe lack of news regarding the upcoming product, however recently an article posted on SlipperyBrick revealed some more details.

The device will be known as the Plastic Logic proReader and will be aimed towards the higher end of the market, the device itself is the same size as a piece of paper (8.5 x 11-inches).

Exact specifications have not yet been released however it is thought that it will use “E Ink Vizplex tech in a shatterproof display”, it will also have integrated 3G capabilities, which will allow you to visit the ebook store which is powered by Barnes & Noble.

Some other details worth mentioning include the fact it supports a wide range of file formats which include Word, Excel PowerPoint and PDF files.

Garmin have recently unveiled a new navigation device to the catalog, this new device is called the nuvi 1450 GPS and is aimed towards the higher-end of the market.

The 1450 features a massive 5 inch touchscreen display which supports a resolution of 480×272, it also features a white backlight, the battery is said to last approximately three hours.

Other features worth mentioning include lane assistance technology, and the ability to save up to 10 pre-planned journeys, there is also an ecoRoute feature which allows you to view the most economical path to your desired destination.

A partnership between BlockBuster and TiVo has now been confirmed, this partnership is now live and allows TiVo owners to access BlackBuster’s On Demand films.

Any one who has a TiVo Series2, Series3, TiVo HD and TiVo HD XL will now be able to access the films direct from their set-top box, no other hardware is required.

BlockBuster’s are currently adding more and more titles to their ever growing library, currently film rentals range for $2.99 and $3.99, Blockbuster have stated that over the next few weeks this library will grow drastically.

Currently no HD films are available, however this is also something that BlockBuster’s are working on, you will also be able to buy TiVo DVRs from BlockBuster stores.

Ceiva have recently unveiled a new digital picture frame to add to their collection, this new digital picture frame is called the Ceiva Pro 90.

The Pro 80 allows connectivity via telephone and WiFi, it also has a memory card reader which is compatible with most of the popular memory card formats, it also has a built-in media server.

The Pro 80 features an 8 inch display, and supports a resolution of 640×480, physical dimensions of the device measure 8.5″ x 10″ and is 3″ deep.

The Pro 80 is currently retailing for a special introductory price of $147.99, however the usual retail price will be $179.99, how long this introductory price will be going for is currently unknown, for more information check out SlashGear.

A few images of Barnes and Noble’s new color e-book reader have recently leaked on Cnet, it is currently expected that Barnes and Noble would be officially announcing the e-book reader sometime next week, therefore chances are these pictures are legitimate.

The new e-book reader is currently surrounded in rumors, many of these rumors seem to state that it will have a color display, it now seems pretty likely that the device will have an 800×600 6 inch monochrome display, however it will also have a color 480×144 LCD multitouch display.

It is thought that this smaller touchscreen display will let you see full color book covers and will allow quick and easy browsing, other sources seem to believe that the touchscreen display will also be used as a keyboard.

Flip’s Mino line of camcorders have proved to be quite popular in the ultra-portable camcorder market, one of the main reasons for this is because they are simple to use and allow easy uploading of videos direct to YouTube.

Flip have now announced a new camcorder which they are calling the Flip MinoHD 120, this camcorder is capable of recording 120 minutes of video, it also features 8GB’s of internal storage, records video at a resolution of 1280×720, has a 2 inch display and an omni-directional mic.

One other thing worth mentioning is that the camcorder is available with a brushed metal finish, alternatively you can design your own Mino HD 120 online, you can choose from a gallery of patterns or even use your own image.

Nikon have just announced full details for the updated version of their existing D3 model. The DS ‘S’ adds all new features such as a FX CMOS sensor and a new Dust Reduction System.

As reported from Pocket-Lint, customers who pick up the improved version will notice that the new Hi3 ISO setting will now give you an ISO of 102,400.

Also included in the new version is an in-camera NEF RAW editing system, which will let you tweak all sorts of image settings such as balance and exposure, using easy-to-use menu navigation.
