Workaround:

The Baseline date variances are always calculated as the difference between the Current Project’s dates and the Baseline Project’s dates. However, the Baseline dates are either the Baseline Planned dates or the Baseline Actual dates depending on whether Earned Value is set to use Planned dates or Current dates under Admin, Admin Preferences, Earned Value tab.

Therefore, to use Baseline Actual dates in the Baseline date variance, set the Earned Value setting to use Current dates rather than Planned dates as shown above.

To use Baseline Planned dates in the Baseline date variance, set the Earned Value setting to use Planned dates as shown above.

Note: By changing this setting, you will change the dates used to spread Planned Value as well.

For example, if you change the Action from “Update Existing” to “Keep Existing” in one Import Configuration, this change will also be applied to the Activity Resource Assignments data type in other Import Configurations.

myPrimavera may use vgx.dll because custom portlets can have URLs that may require vgx.dll.

Project Management does not use vgx.dll directly.  However, there is no guarantee that dhtmled.ocx and mshtml.dll used by Project Management will not have problems if vgx.dll is unregistered.

Primavera Project Management products use a Data Date, or 揳s-of?date, when calculating the schedule. The Data date represents the last date you recorded progress in the form of actual dates, percent complete, revised remaining duration, or actual quantities or costs. Before the first update, the project start date is the data date. As the project proceeds, the one updating the schedule moves the data date forward as progress is applied to the project.

The data date represents the date through which you have current status information and may not coincide with the date on which you enter the update information. Primavera products do not automatically move the data date to today’s date for you.

For example, you can enter update information on a Monday for a data date as of the previous Friday; the resulting project shows progress as of that Friday.  If you want Primavera to know that you are updating as of Monday, you must manually move the data date to the correct date.

Since the Data date represents the date through which you have status information, the schedule is most accurate when there is a process or procedure for gathering progress.

For example, for smaller or shorter duration projects, you may need to analyze project performance daily. In this case, procedures should be put in place so that project participants provide updates daily by a predefined time in a predefined manner.

For larger or more complex projects, updates may be done on a weekly basis.

For example, if you update the schedule every Friday and the current data date is Friday, November 5. When one week elapses and it is November 12, all project participants must have provided update progress through the end of the day November 11. Then the scheduler can advance the data date to November 12. The schedule now accurately reflects all the progress performed the previous week.

When updating the data date, choose the next available working period to be the new data date. 

For example, If you are not doing work on weekends and you are entering information as of the end of the day Friday, you should set the data date to the beginning of the day of the following Monday.  This is because no work is being done Friday night nor through the weekend. 

All unstarted activities without predecessors or constraints as well as the remaining duration of in-progress activities are scheduled from the project data date.

 

Example:

C:\P3 would be close to the root of the C: drive.

Workarounds:

If you want a WBS element to have the attributes of an activity, the WBS element can contain one activity which can have the same name as the WBS element.

OR

You can create an LOE activity which encompasses all the activities contained in the WBS level.
