The road to redefining America is being paved with your tax dollar

Social Justice has become the latest shroud for liberal takeover of our culture and community. The left is masterful at crafting confusing and enticing language the masses accept without a deliberate look at the focus. Case in point: Pro-Choice. I mean, who isn’t for letting others choose, and me also for that matter? { Except for the little fact that it doesn’t allow any choice to the human being whose heart is beating. }

At the magic moment that awareness and opinion meet in ones psyche, the Left will deliberately confuse the matter by attributing lies. Such is the case with the latest bastion of bologna being spun for liberal advancement.

What is social justice? Well, it’s hard to say, and as usual, one must do their own reporting because the liberal media will oft allow the Left their way of mincing words. Indeed, social justice isn’t a new concept. The Canadians to the North certainly embrace the term and rally behind it as if it were religion. Culture has become religion for so many. As our hopey, changey President continues to illustrate his agenda, it becomes increasingly clear that nothing in his repertoire is exactly new… he just mimics the political atmosphere of our Northern neighbor, focusing us on a cultural “awakening.”

In an exercise of fairness, let’s have a self-proclaimed, knowledgeable liberal explain what he feels the definition of “social justice” is. The scene for this is at Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” event in Washington, D.C. My friend, Ben Howe, was there and reported and produced this awesome video. Read his post at Red State, here.

If it’s even necessary to draw a conclusion after that succinct definition, I will only add to the effort by saying, “Social Justice” has become the left’s new economic policy. In order to “restabilize” the country, they want to systematically redistribute wealth amongst the people. Ready socialism. The President predicted to Joe the Plumber on the campaign trail that his intention was to do so. The left is quick to marginalize the criticism but it fits the definition like leggings on a fat girl. Tight.

The only conspiracy theory outstanding is whether or not the Left is intentionally destabilizing the economy to institute the practice. One can certainly see the plausibility of this argument since nonsense spending outside of our means is rampant with renewed efforts to spend yet again.

In retrospect, we know that Conservatives have their own analysis of economic policies that eliminate deficits. The most famous example of workable a solution is the “trickle down” politics of Ronald Reagan. The hero of Conservative thought was adept at defining his philosophy and practicing it. He took hits during his administration but weathered the storm long enough to prove its effective nature. Coupled with fiscal restraint, it is the pinnacle of our great society.

These two philosophies define the two parties at this point. Spend versus save. Give to the government to manage or allow you to manage yourself. Trust the system or trust the people.

The lines are drawn, it is up to the parties to “sell” their philosophy to the population. But, as Conservatives have long complained, the insidious permeation of our journalism and educational systems is skewing the playing field for the message of conservative versus liberal thought. One could effectively argue our public university system, funded by taxpayer dollars, is already showing the rusty edges of corrosion. There is but one place our government is to remain unhindered by government ideology: the spending of our public taxpayer dollars. You agree, yes? The collective spending power of the American people should not go to a political party… it’s ideology or attempt to rewrite history, yes?

Today, your government is ACTIVELY and purposefully funding the idea of social justice.

Here is a useful example, one that is popping up in my backyard….

As you are all well aware, our government sought to avert financial crisis by passing a series of “stimulus” bills that would inject needed cash into the economy. Sold as “the” fix for unemployment, the population was sold the promise of jobs – shovel-ready…

We all know how that worked out. (Yes, that was the HuffPo. Really.)

One of the many public programs funds agencies that support the poor and unemployed. These agencies are worthy in many respects. This, too, sounds like a great concept… deliver relief to agencies on a local level that can help pay electric bills and other necessities until families recover. However, nested in the nearly 5.5 million dollars that was received merely to *my* local Missouri Valley Community Action Agency, there is a hidden plan of indoctrination.

THIS WEEKEND, coinciding with September 11th, the MO Valley Community Action Agency (MVCAA) is joining with my alma mater, University of Central Missouri to put on an “International” Film Festival featuring films that teach and support the idea of…. Yes, social justice.

Of course they confuse the issue in their mission statement:

The purpose of the Show Me Social Justice International Film Festival is to raise awareness of Social Justice Issues. Using a variety of artistic media, our goal is to impact our communities, both locally and globally, in order to inspire personal responsibility and positive action.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY? The act of taking from one and rewarding another IN NO WAY demonstrates a person’s responsibility for self NOR has it ever, in the history of man, promoted a sense of self-worth and can-do. Can’t you just see the left falling apart with laughter as they use George W. Bush’s famous term? And what is positive action? It’s as ambiguous as the wind.

After reviewing the Board of the MVCAA, it became clear in my mind that none of these individuals could have dreamed up the scheme so I began to look around…

Yes, they are borrowing the idea from the North:

And while I cannot confirm that each film festival is tax-payer funded, it seems clear that it is popping up around the country. California. Louisiana. New York.

Are you comfortable funding a liberal agenda? Are you outraged that money that should be helping the unemployed and creating jobs is diverting funds to an event that 60 people on Facebook “like?”

The lasting legacy of this effort is a rewriting of history. Want to see it in practice?

The Missouri Association of Social Welfare claims the following:

“A Citizen’s Voice for Social Justice Since 1901.” (funding via the United Way)

Interesting, since the U.S. didn’t begin to really embrace the term until the 50s and 60s. The point here is that this old philosophy is being embraced by any social welfare program in an effort to tell this story: “our roots are deep.” They claim we should embrace a redistribution of wealth out of tradition. JUST as the Tea Party quotes the founders and the traditions therein.

This, my friends, is how they will rise up. Social Justice, built on a foundation of lies, stealing our language and creating a shroud of “tradition” is already OF the government and we are OF the people. This will become the battlefield in which a war will be waged.

Many of you know that I am living in the 4th Congressional District of Missouri. For several months I have had a post right here about my State Senator, Bill Stouffer. I am proud to have supported such a fine man for this esteemed post because I knew he would do a great job for Missouri, representing in D.C. However, he lost in the primary to his opponent, Vicky Hartzler, and therein begins the story of how political parties should come together for the good of the electorate.

photo credit to Vicky Hartzler for Congress

Political Campaigns are a long, hard road. They take time to launch, refine and raise needed funds. Many people, hoping to get a foothold in the debate, insert their brand of cynicism alleging that the system if broken, corrupt and shameful. Instead, they are a fact of life. We are a large pool of diverse individuals. Getting information into the hands of the voters takes time and money. We should be glad campaigns go through such mountain-moving effort to inform us. What’s sad is that we aren’t acting as sponges, vetting our candidates and voting with clear intention. Is there corruption? Possibly. Getting involved in that debate will leave you pointing fingers in back and forth never-ending unison. You’d be better off getting involved in the process and holding your candidates accountable.

These long roads can lead us down paths we never thought we’d tread. Campaigns become heated, personal when candidates, families and supporters invest their free time and resources into their wish to represent. MORE candidates are interested in forwarding the debate, left and right, more than they are interested in power. At least this is true of new candidates. Storied politicians are a different story. Here in Missouri, we had a State Senator and a former State Representative vying for political office on a national stage, a place neither was familiar, but both willing to conquer.

Rumors about both candidates might fly… fears might be stirred. But in the end, the 4th Congressional District has a candidate that is wise, honest and committed. I couldn’t be more pleased to race to November with Vicky Hartzler, though I didn’t support her from the beginning.

I met Vicky last Saturday in Lexington, Missouri. In the hometown of our democratic opponent, Ike Skelton, over 30 people gathered to meet our hope for Missouri’s 4th. In the sleepy town overlooking the Missouri river, we talked about Ike’s esteemed record as an advocate for our district. Respect has been earned here, but has eroded in recent years. Personal friends and life-long Republicans who switched their political affiliations to vote for Ike are up in arms with his continued Eeyore-like devotion to Nancy Pelosi. Let me promise you, this allegation is not lobbed in an attempt to smear. It’s a verified fact. The once, “Man-in-his-own-right” Skelton has turned into nothing but a party hack, voting the bidding of the most liberal, destructive Speaker we’ve ever seen on the hill.

A cry from Lafayette County voters was heard to unseat this man who has turned his back on the conservative values that are born on the farm, and worked to the bone by the producers of this country. Vicky knows this better than most. Her family farmed when she was a girl and continues still to this day. They harnessed their love for the land, launching a small business of farm implements and now have three locations throughout the district. Vicky knows the people, she is one of them.

She had the opportunity to convey her intentions and who she is. The highlights in my mind are:

Vicky served honorably in the statehouse and won resoundingly in three elections. This, in a district that had only once or twice harbored a Republican before her time.

Vicky is steeped in smaller-government, God-loving roots and intends to bring them to D.C.

Vicky has demonstrated this by working on the Missouri defending marriage voter-approved constitutional amendment as well as The Missouri Stem Cell Research and Cures Initiative. What I like best about this effort is that it is designed as a referendum of the people. We’d do well to retreat back to our state governments to live in unison with our neighbors and to effect political change in a direct way. Imagine your ability to “talk shop” with your local Alderman. While state-politics is unarguably less direct, it is still far more effective than letting the federal government attempt to govern a nation of so many.

Vicky has run honorably, demonstrating that she knows this job will take big-time effort. Her staff is working tirelessly.

And finally, in a recent email exchange, Vicky had to reschedule a meeting in the district because she was needed at home, to take her daughter to her first day of school. In this year of the “Conservative Woman,” with the talk of an awakening of Republican-brand of feminism, this is the stuff I truly respect. Women can be good mothers and servants of the people. Thank you, Michelle Bachmann.

Can Vicky win? She certainly is in it to win it. She’s challenging Ike to a debate, she strikes back against the already-negative attacks from the D.C. elite. Let me be frank, she doesn’t have as much cash as Ike. Never will. But you can help. And you can tea party this vote. I’m pretty sure you are getting the hang of what this means — flip the house, let money not be the deciding factor — use your sphere of influence (friends, coworkers, facebook page, twitter) to introduce this worthy candidate. Research shows we much connect THREE TIMES to a voter to make an impact. Won’t you be one point of contact in this effort?

Connect with Vicky! FACEBOOK……..TWITTER Did you know they have their phone number on their twitter page and it is answered personally? Refreshing!

I join with Vicky. I hope that all competitive races have acted honorably in their primary fights and will come together for November. This is it. If we fail in our efforts, this country will be unrecognizable. As it is, we have a job before us that will take our most valiant efforts to overcome.

This page will continue to have links to news about Vicky Hartzler. Check back often, because you’ll want to be celebrating with me in November. Comment below with questions for Vicky and I’ll be sure to send them to the campaign.

Missouri is marked as “competitive, tossup” in most polls.

Make sure you click on *all* the Open Secrets tabs, but this one is telling.

CQ Politics Map. Keep watching it. As far as “leans Democrat,” this is completely false, Vicky recently pointed out that our district is a +14 Republican based on voting record. We have Republicans who notoriously vote Ike. This needs to end.

Fun Fact: when I was born, Ike Skelton was a freshmen Representative. Term limits anyone? Based on the Open Secrets information above, it is clear that over time the DC-dinosaur is nothing but an executive for interest groups OUTSIDE his represented area. Notice Ike’s received over 50k from lobbyists… Vicky: 0.

Fun exercise: Vote Smart has great information about Ike’s voting record and has challenged him to return their Political Courage test. Click here to urge him to answer about issues that are facing our communities including Cap and Tax.

Something is happening in the heartland. And those who consider themselves to be purveyors of political wisdom would be well served to sit up and take notice: South Dakota Senator John Thune (R) is starting to emerge as a political cyclone.

At this point, most Americans are familiar with John Thune only as a result of his 2004 shocking upset of (then) U.S. Senate Minority Leader, Tom Daschle, in the South Dakota Senate race. Thune, a proponent of term limits who had previously served 3 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives – and who declined to run for a 4th because he had promised voters he would not (novel concept) – showed tremendous fundraising prowess on a national level in defeating Daschle in 2004. According to Politico, the Thune people already have a fundraising list of over 100,000 donors as a result of that campaign. Couple that with the fact that Thune currently enjoys a 70% approval rating among South Dakota voters, and he appears to be unbeatable in his home state. In fact, six years after defeating Daschle, Thune is up for re-election and Democrats, seemingly sensing the inevitable, have declined to oppose him this time around.

You wouldn’t know that Senator Thune is unopposed in November by his fundraising activities, though. As of April 1, 2010, Thune had a campaign war chest in excess of $6.5 million, and it’s still growing. Thune has been on a torrent pace over the past several months – attending events around the country, shaking hands and raising money in support of other conservative candidates. A recent Washington Post article by Chris Cillizza highlights the fact that the South Dakota Senator will begin to “raise his national profile” by attending some key conservative functions in Maryland and North Carolina this month. All the while, the quiet, steadily rising tide of “Thune 2012″ supporters continues to swell on Facebook, Twitter and beyond.

At a moment in time when the conservative movement is yearning for that pragmatic, plain-spoken, charismatic leader who can connect with people (the way Reagan did), and effectively (and unabashedly) communicate the conservative message, the man and the hour are about to meet. Consider the facts…

1. Obama will be imminently beatable in 2012. What once seemed inconceivable, has become reality. Independents are jumping ship on Obama and the Democrats in droves. While it is impossible to predict what may happen between now and November of 2012 to “sway” the voters in one direction or another, one thing is certain – the American conservative movement is in the midst of a renaissance. This movement is real – there is nothing false, artificial or trendy about the desire of Americans to get their nation’s financial house in order. Democrats, led by Obama, have overreached in their lust for more federal control over the everyday lives of Americans, and Americans are pushing back in a major way. The “Stimulus Bill” has failed and healthcare reform was a disaster for Democrats. While, in the end, Obama was able to convince Democrats to “walk the plank” for Obamacare, Americans felt violated over the way in which Democrats arrogantly thumbed their noses at the voters throughout the whole process. The voters will not forget – not now and certainly not by 2012.

2. The Republican field is ripe for the picking. With the exception of (possibly) Sarah Palin, no potential Republican nominee has been able to electrify and unify conservatives. This was a problem for Republicans in 2008 when John McCain received the nomination by default. Result? President Obama and super-majorities for Democrats in both houses of Congress. Don’t look for Republicans to make the same mistake again. After 4 full years of “Obamanation,” Republicans will be looking for a dynamic, strong leader with broad appeal. Newt Gingrich? Tim Pawlenty? Mike Huckabee? Probably not. Mitt Romney? While he certainly has the executive experience and economic credentials, the former Massachusetts Governor will be hard-pressed to make it out of the Republican primary with the albatross of “RomneyCare” hanging around his neck – oh, and don’t forget the fact that he couldn’t even beat McCain in 2008. Conservatives are desperate for that unusual combination of substance, charisma and leadership that seems to have eluded them on the national level since Reagan. Enter John Thune. Exhibit A:

3. The Palin Factor. What about the former Alaska Governor and 2008 VP-Candidate, Sarah Palin? A year ago, she seemed to be the heir apparent to the Republican throne. Through a series of her own decisions, though, beginning with her resignation announcement over last year’s July 4th holiday, Sarah Palin seems content now playing the role of “King Maker” rather than King (err, Queen). There is no question that, outside of Obama himself, Sarah Palin is one of the most polarizing figures in American politics today. This alone, coupled with the absolute smear job that the media outlets and the goons at Saturday Night Live have perpetrated upon Palin, will make it difficult for her to win in 2012. Plus, one just gets the sense that she’s not too in love with the idea of running for President at this point in her life. And frankly, who could blame her?

For his part, John Thune continues to deflect questions about his prospects of running for President in 2012, sticking to what has become his standard, canned response that he’s “focused on doing everything [he] can to help Republicans gain majorities in the House and Senate in 2010.” The lifelong South Dakotan seems to have embraced his role as the “dark horse” candidate for now, content to sit back in true midwestern style and let all the dust settle before rolling up his sleeves and getting to work. As Oliver Cromwell once said, “Keep your powder dry.” Up until this point, Thune has had the powder in dry storage under lock and key. But soon, very soon, the lock is comin’ off. The door will open. And John Thune will emerge.

You want to know what he has been doing since 2002? For 8 years he has been quiet, right? Then why are you so worried about what he was doing before 2002? Don’t we all have things in our past that are just that, past?? He who is without sin may cast the first stone… are you so innocent? Also, if he has been quiet since 2002 doesn’t that mean something POSITIVE like he isn’t into it anymore, seen the errors of his ways, etc? You are going to browbeat someone for something that is more than 8 years in the past?

I respect your desire to keep Odessa a nice and quiet place, but do you really know what goes on in Odessa when the sun goes down? The drugs and drinking are rampant, the teenage sex almost an epidemic. What are you doing about that? He is trying to open a club for teenagers where they can dance and hang out in a safe environment. You are against that? You prefer the field parties that happen? That’s why I see. I see you being afraid of something you don’t know and that you would rather have the quiet, under the rug issues than having someone you don’t know come into your community.

One last thing, if it came down to the absolute worst and it ended up being a recruiting center, don’t you have enough faith in the youth of your community and the parents that it wouldn’t work. Really? By all this anger you are displaying, and the hatred you are bringing forth are you no better than him? Someone who seems to have tried to be quiet and live his own life, you and your friends are going to stir it all up and make it miserable while you preach about not hating… seems you hate him. Do you need a mirror?

Did he strike a cord with you or are you just so wrapped up in gossip and fear that you have to use your website as a way of making yourself feel important?

Words mean things. What I say has an effect. If I have spewed hate on this site, please click the comment button and illustrate it with concrete evidence. I’ve asked questions and I’ve relayed information.

It seems I wasn’t so off-base. Rarely will I agree with The Pitch of K.C., but in an exercise of bipartisanship, let’s get some facts out there, shall we?

While he says he took himself out of the movement more than five years ago, an organization that monitors hate groups reports that he started a neo-Nazi club in Oak Grove fewer than five months ago.

Courtney Cook-Juba filed for divorce from Charles in August 2009. In December, when the two were trying to reach a custody agreement for their two children, Cook-Juba included the following as an issue regarding restriction of visitation:

“Petitioner [Courtney Cook-Juba] believes Respondent [Charles Juba] will take the children to attend various hate rallies and/or to visit people involved in the Aryan Nations or the National Socialist Movement, some of which are currentty incarcerated.”

Courtney Cook-Juba wasn’t exactly unsupportive of white power. When the former couple agreed on how to split their possessions earlier this year, Charles Juba made sure to keep “2 Nazi flag pillowcases made by his wife.” He probably wanted them to go with the two Klan robes, historical Nazi and Klan documents, and library of books like White Power by G.L. Rockwell, The Turner Diaries by William Luther Pierce and They Say Blood On My Hands by Robert Shelton.

Cook-Juba’s concerns about whether Charles Juba was attending National Socialist Movement rallies were apparently well founded. The Southern Poverty Law Center tracks movement in the white power ranks and in 2003 put Juba on its “40 to Watch” list thanks to his influential tenures in both the International Keystone Knights of the Ku Klux Klan and the Aryan Nations.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck… it’s probably a duck. I will not be afraid to uncover the truth by trumped up charges or allegations which are written from a passionate viewpoint and get out of hand. I am not a hater, and my words have impact. As do yours.

My advice for those who disagree, write a thoughtful comment and provide evidence for your position rather than offering your feelings about what “might” be about someone you supposedly “do not know.”

For those who agree, it is time to step outside of the government — they cannot save us from all ills and aren’t responsible for having an opinion or spreading the Truth. We are. Organize, work, stay atune… this is the way for good to again permeate our rhetoric. The lesson can go with you into many sectors.

Is it possible God is trying to get your attention?

This is a call to action by and through the social media chain. If we are working together, as I think we ought and might, we will lift up this message on behalf of a small town in Lafayette County, Missouri, just 36 miles from downtown Kansas City. This is my town.

Today I received a phone call from a friend. Not to overemphasize the concern in her voice, but as she drove her two small children from the parking lot of her worship center, she began to call her friends with urgency - her circle of influence. She detailed a story told throughout the halls of her church about the newest business owner to stake a claim in the nearly abandoned outlet mall on the I-70 corridor of town. A man, Charles Juba, whom she verified as being the owner of the newly proposed business by driving by and noting his name and phone number on the business permit, had been illustrated to her as a man of ill-repute and a real cause for concern.

I share her concern. I call on you to fight against him.

Charles Juba, listed here by START (National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism) is the former leader of the Aryan Nation.

Read more about him here, here and here (the last in regard to his ‘disassociation’ from the Aryan Nation.)

Here is a link to his plans for my neighborhood

His ‘under 21′ club, called the Black Flag Club, is named according to his site as:

During the War Between the States, something very unique happened in Missouri unlike no other state at that time. While Missouri had seceded from the Union as did the other southern states, the population was deeply divided between loyalties of the Union and the Confederacy. Missouri’s government was in exile in Arkansas during the war due to federal occupation, leaving most of it’s citizens to fend for themselves, making them at the mercy of any soldier with a gun. As more and more northern aggression came from Kansas and Union officers occupying the state, citizens who were busy trying to make a living and not involved with the war, faced hardships we could only imagine today. After the murder of their women and children and no courts to render justice for such crimes committed by the federal soldiers, ordinary men, farmers, ranchers, students, mill workers, all walks of life, banded together under a charismatic and bold leader; William Clarke Quantrill. They were known as the Partisan Rangers, sworn to defend their land from invasion. It is unclear exactly when, but they began to ride into battle with a black flag. This flag represented the total opposite of what a white flag meant, to surrender. These brave young men refused to surrender to unjust laws being forced on them. They were tired of seeing their families and neighbors homes and farms stolen by the occupying forces. They rose up and banded together under the black flag, and vowed to right all the wrongs they had witnessed, defending what was theirs. They did not belong to any formal army, and only answered to the men they rode with into battle. They were the modern day outlaws of their time.

I just attempted to contact Charles Juba at the phone number listed on his permit — he has not returned my call. Here are the questions I have for Mr. Juba:

With your mission in mind, why are you targeting children and young adults propagating the idea of “modern day outlaws?”

What is your purpose and what have you been doing with your time since 2002 when you stepped away from the Aryan Nation?

What would you tell the people in Odessa who are concerned about your purpose in light of your past affiliations?

Given that the anarchist movement has chosen the black flag as a symbolic representation of their cause, are you rejecting the link to your organization?

The Black Flag Club is on Facebook and MySpace.

The movie, White Terror, detailing the movement, including North American activity which mentions the documented extremist views of Charles John Juba:

Divided as we are, government’s role and the ringing undertones of its composition and intention are oft the verse of today’s pundit. Tea partiers, libertarians and awake conservatives have been blowing the dust off the cast aside wisdom and warnings of those who would stake their lives on an experiment which still thrives in our sometimes wary hands. The Left and its lemmings are content to cast doubt on the Independent, Christian nature of our framers – insisting them to be Deists or Unitarians. This debate, while easily dismantled by anyone with a spirit of truth, does suggest that there is little to agree on if this simple truth can’t easily be admitted. There are, in the murkier waters of debate the ideas which don’t relate as well to the general population. One in particular: Big Government.

If I were to be overly kind to my democrat opponent, I would spend some time trying to figure out why they see government, vast and broad in its powers, as an advantage. I say overly kind because we are assuming they are thinking in terms of cause and consequence, risk and responsibility, giving credit to them for these initial considerations before acting. Most Conservatives disregard the why and rather focus the consequence of growing the government as their telltale advantage. The elite Democrat establishment wishes to capitalize simple power, our final conclusion. Let me explain…

Conservatives know that as time has progressed, government has expanded itself in the name of providing for the general welfare into any number of areas which might better be left to the private sector. The private sector selects areas of interest, becomes an expert, and then runs a slick operation to assure fine tuning and optimum return. In the public sector a fat, sometimes obscure hierarchy of mismanagement and inefficiency tends to form over time, making the management and obligation a challenge which cannot be easily addressed. Think: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid - all programs designed to “help out,” but which are, in the case of Social Security, just this month, unable to count “balanced” as one of its basic tenants. So, with this clear example before us, Conservatives can only garner that the byproduct of this clearly inferior form of service must be the reason to continue to stand on the losing side of debate. What byproduct? The power captured by enslaving the masses to “need” for government.

In a Conservatives mind, the only logical answer must be from power derived from offering such services to the public. Clearly, as families become beholden to government for basic needs: shelter, food and care, they will continue to entrust their vision and vote to those who would continue to ensure their way of life. As is the case with a vast portion of the voting population, we vote our paycheck or security. If the paycheck and security are hinged upon the continued handout at the hand of a Democrat, as the programs and audience grow – Voila! A broader and stronger voting base. This is the formulated final determination by the Right. This must be the only reason to stand so blatantly oblivious when faced with the fact that human ingenuity at the hand of the Individual left free and unfettered, has been proven time and again most efficient.

I am beginning to think there is more. I am sure that the final benefit of growing government big is in the mind of all who wish to institute the practice. However, I believe we are coloring the Left with too much sophistication. Big government is nothing but a byproduct of their self-imposed position of debt with the question being only: aren’t we obligated to pay for our good intentions? They dream up unrealistic dreams, institute a plan and then circle back around until there seems to be no other choice but to sign up for more of the same. Like a bad lease on a vehicle, we can’t afford to get out at the end, and are forced to purchase.

I think it’s nothing more than short sighted vision with the added pressure of the ticking clock. As time carries on, the left is always with their back against the wall trying to replenish funds to feed the big government beast while trying to fend off the ultimate truths of our position: that life isn’t fair and distribution can therefore not flow equally to all. To them the definition of Big Government is only: able to carry out our intentions of equality. Our obligations and goal incomplete, we ask and demand for more money to feed the delivery system – Government. Big government is nothing more than the ugly byproduct of their inability to admit their faulty logic.

They are stuck in the revolving door of their own discontent – stuck against nature, trying to disprove theories that are impossible to overcome. Conservatives, colored as heartless in pointing out this truth, are accused of wishing to do nothing in it wake of inequality. It’s an unfair colorization and one that was on my mind as I sat in church this Easter Sunday.

Easter is celebrated in my hometown, with my family, at my childhood church. I get to see the weathered faces of the Mom’s I remember who have become grandmothers and great-grandmothers. I embrace my friend from Youth Group as she proudly displayed her two-week-old son. Though the pews and hymnals have been replaced by makeshift seating in a recreational room and Powerpoint slides bring us the latest groovy Contemporary praise, the place remains smiles and warmth, Prayer-partners and mission.

Here, in the bulletin, I found a great example of privatized success. Printed weekly, for review and scrutiny by the members who stake an ownership in their church are the numbers for Budget and Offering. This Church, whose mission is narrowly defined, whose expertise is a slick operation is living in the same recession we all are. Yet, year-to-date offering is nearly $17,000 ahead of the projected budget. Based on the numbers it is clear that this Church is providing employment for at least 15 people, providing a place for recreation and worship, teaching children, offering a library of information, providing counseling services for families, directing the needy to other operations to provide clothing, shelter, counseling… the list goes on and on. They do this all with just over $600,000 a year.

They know that nature doles out social justices in ways that cannot be understood. They know that redistributing blessings is a matter of God. The church lends a helping hand, educates, restores families, homes and marriages. They equal the playing field by addressing individually the problems that are lurking in the midst of self-pity, poor self esteem and entrenched social problems. No big, bloated government could ever tailor to the needs of the individual and lift them up. There is no working example of any Government program serving over 600 people, under one roof, the varied benefit that is managed here for just $600,000 a year.

Using an example such as the church would no doubt cause a disdainful, marginalization by the left. In their tired “separation” arguments they believe they discredit and quell our truthful claims. We’ve let them.

When they are on their next merry-go-round of feeding the beast they attempt to tame: BIG Government, we must continue to speak out unashamed. We cannot let them marginalize our successful examples of streamlined delivery. Our churches, our Christianity is where this conversation started. This conversation will end badly if we don’t continue to highlight our God-given successes in the forefront.

It’s taken days for me to pause. Reflect.

I have cried. I admit it.

I’ve cried because I believe my children should not be mandated to pay for the degradation of our very delivery system of care for the sick and infirm. Yes, I meant to write it just like that. They will pay, as working adults, for our system to slow delivery, becoming impacted like a rotten tooth by those who are not incentivized to care for themselves.

I have a twitter friend from Canada. She’s been interested in the conversation to her South. I’m not exactly certain why but she has extended her hand to me to commiserate about what she believes is the triumph of her country, health care. I’ve enjoyed our talks. Just after the vote, she sent me this message:

I know you are feeling hurt, but hopeful. As a fellow mom, I can tell you, we cherish our health care system. My best to you.

It made me think about how we played this game. I remember the many months uncovering the inadequacies in Canada, Britain. They pointed out ours. The debate went back and forth. The allegations never stuck on either side. At least not from the perspective of the opposing pundit.

We can’t fight this way. We have to fight from our unique perspective. We are Americans. Our methods are inherently unique, and most likely apart from the solutions which may fit for other cultures. We have our own Republic, an experiment so deeply embedded in our framework that we must act against the grain of any other industrialized or modernized society. We need not compare ourselves. We should not compare ourselves.

We need to point out that our fabric was woven by skilled masters. Americans must stake a new-founded interest in the experiment. Without their renewed interest, I am afraid our unique qualities are slowly being squandered at the ballot box to those that would snatch prideful power from their uninformed grasp.

But there is hope…

First, our elected fought hard. And they were brilliant. Check out this map for some of the highlighted speeches:

The folks over at the GOP.gov blog put together a great tool for seeing the best speeches:
View The Best of Health Care Floor Debates in a larger map

Though Obama is regarded as a brilliant Constitutional scholar, I believe he has it wrong.

And so do many of the states who have already asserted their rights.

And so do many State Attorney Generals who have filed suit.

And so does the ACLJ (American Center for Law and Justice.)

If you care about precedence: which is quite simply, once a ground-breaking law is introduced and stands without being struck down by existing law or Constitutional challenge, it will become a pervasive part of society. In short, the Government will be able to look to this law-sucking freedom-debilitating bill and use it against you to encroach on your life. So, again, if you care… do something!

Write your paper.

Vet your local candidates.

Get involved in a campaign.

Give a little cash.

And by Lord, tell at least one person a week that being political is essential to life. Make them see that we are reaping what we sow. Our babies deserve a better electorate. Without it, they will be left with a tattered America, one that will not be uniquely liberty-loving.
