Kelda scales the heights

When the 2009/10 Point-to-Point season is over, Shropshire-based trainer-rider Kelda Wood is taking on a different challenge. She will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, in a bid to raise 5,000 for Help For Heroes, and will be among a group of 30 climbers, all of whom will be raising money for the charity of their choice.

Carmarthen's Dai Jones recorded a landmark victory at Saturday's Llandeilo Farmers Point-to-Point meeting when dead heating for first place in the Men's Open aboard Keith Pritchard's prolific winner, Cannon Bridge, which provided 45 year old Dai, with his 200th winner.

The Flint and Denbigh meeting at Bangor on Dee was definitely one for the true Point-to-Point enthusiasts, as the weather was awful, freezing cold with plenty of showers thrown in for good measure, saying that the racing was excellent.
