St.Neots Mini Rugby Match Report Under 9's 7th March 2010

Two matches this Sunday down at the St.Neots Ground against a St.Ives team yet to win a match. Were St.Neots going to send them back up the Ouse without a paddle or were we going to let them sail through our defence and anchor up on our line.

Well in actual fact it was a bit off both! The first game saw us come out a little sleepy yet again with the boys not linking up sufficiently to pass the ball across the park. High tackling and panic passing gave possession to our 'visting losers' too often in the first half and to add to this the forwards got punished too often for lack of discipline. However, when we found space, passed accurately and got the ball out to the wings the tries turned up. Through the centre we also played well with Jaydon making good ground. Frankie also found some form with good passing and some solid defence work. Liam as always answered his critics with some fantastic solo runs. The score ended at 6-4 to the home team

The second game saw again the high tackles comming in from St.Neots and gapping holes appearing in our defence when the 'must get' tackles were missed. St Ives capitalised and St. Neots found themselves pionts down with a 5 minutes to go. St Neots squared the score with the forwards working hard on their line and Daniel driving over to secure a well earnt try. A final run to their line by St.Neots ending with us camped out 5 yards from the St.Ives line, but lost control of the maul and St.Ives finished us off with a fine solo run and the whistle blew.

So all in all a mixed bag by St.Neots. In Bryans' Summary it was reiterated about high tackling and discipline. Player of the week went to Frankie and though a dissappionting result Bryan wasn't short of praise for lots of individual hard work and effort. 'What we all want to see is team work with each player thinking about the support they have around them.'

St. Neots Under 9's Mini Rugby Trainning Session 14th February 2010

9 or so boys turned up for Training at the St.Neots ground with Bryan and Ian working on maul drills and the bosh bags, later the under 10's joined us for a match. An exceptionally bitterly cold day so limited coverage. The boys played well against the older opposition with all trainers from both age groups directing the play and explaining to the boys where the errors were occuring and how to prevent them going forward. We saw some good tackling from all the boys and some good hard ground play. Bryan's round up reitterated that the boys need to have more confidence on the ball and not discard the it in a panic. Morgan was picked out as a much improved player and given player of the week. It now appears the trophy has been tracked down so no more cheap jokes about its possible whereabouts

Micro Print Factory Vandalised

Print Hut had an intruder in the business yesterday and unfortunately a few items were stolen and some of our equipment vandalised.
I have since spoken with Daniel Golden (aged 8) and asked him to replace the Neils chocolate biscuits and rub off the production board a portrait of his younger bother Thomas (aged 5)

St. Neots Match report 7th February 2010

Two matches again this week at the St Neots ground with Bedford and Hitchin visiting with a full squad exceeding 20 players each!!
So would our smaller squad of 13 players be able to dig deep and find their way through inevitably stronger opposition and find touch?
Well unlike almost all other games we came our fighting; alert, focussed and full of confidence. Well, when you start with that mindset the tries have to come and indeed thats exactly what happened. However, what I was really impressed with was the fluency of all games and the boys better understanding of when to take opportunities at the expense of the opposition.

The line outs deep in the opponents half would be an example of this and we saw how we can apply and keep the pressure on. Reckon I saw at least two interceptions by James and Thomas in the second game that led to tries being scored.

The forwards of Daniel, Morgan and Liam really looked like a pack at times, driving over and allowing recycling and creating really exciting forward play to watch.
We also saw the return of the three speedsters of Alex, Callum and Adam and all three showed us what we had been missing during previous games; capable of turning on quite unbelievable speed at the drop of a hat.
All games were tough and hard and again we saw a few minor injuries.

If I were to look for improvement, I would be looking at our overall ability to move forward quickly, particularly from the scrum and line out position. It seemed on so many occasions the team was 5 yards too slow, and allowed the opposition to open up and go wide for the line. Also a high percentage of tries were conceded due to week first tackles.

The boys need to go in harder and lower and hold their position.
Anyway the most entertaining game so far and a quick mention to Ian Nash for some good fair reffing
Bryans round up praised the boys for some excellent rugby and picked out Morgan as man of the Match for his hooking. Gabby was showing off her new ring earlier to me and mentioned in passing there would be no trophy again this week. Jim also made a visit to the ground. Clearly the surgeons didnt tamper with his voice box!!!!

Locked up for Pushing Print!!

Printhuteer Number 1 spent a night in the St.Neots cells for pushing good value and cost effective printed items to small business owners in the St.Neots area. However he was released on bail to appear to court at a later date. Frank Golden was unavailable for comments. We will of course keep you all informed. Meanwhile the Micro Print Factory in St.Neots has been swamped with TV crews from all the major TV channels.

Icy ground and perishingly cold conditions, we couldn't have expected much today from our little heroes. However despite all we still had a small bunch turning up to be shouted out!! Bryan and Ian took them over to the under 10's training camp where Colin was waiting for them. No photos this week as my hands were wrapped in some double skinned thinsulate gloves and everytime I went to take a photo I either rang someone or opened up the callender instead;
Next week however is a match at home so hope to see you all then............

St.Neots Mini Rugby Under 9's Match Report 25th January 2009

Two matches this week to report on you lucky devils. Both games were played at Home at the St.Neots ground. Firstly we had Elvis' Huntingdon side and secondly Ely who surprisingly didn't bring their rain with them!!

As always we were looking for improvements in passing, tackling and feeding the ball out to the backs, but were not to see any of this until the latter stages of the tournament. To add to the pressure we were also down on the speedsters this week with Callum, Alex and Adam all off for various reasons. However this was also a chance for the others to prove themselves and could the likes of Frankie and the twins show the boss that we had plenty of fuel in the reserve tanks!!!

Both first matches showed us very little of the improvements we all hoped for, with the boys running up blind alleys with no understanding of team play. Furthermore the mature ground work we saw last week was not repeating itself this week with St.Neots losing pocession and giving away needless penalties too regularly. However the gaps in the squad were filled as hoped for with Jaydon,Frankie and the twins soon showing confidence and pushing forward with the ball at the right times.

All games were probably the most physical we have seen for a while and most of the boys got knocks and bumps along the way and it wasnt long before the management were left with no subs to bring on. However I think this was the turning piont in the games and by the third game we were seeing the forwards linking up nicely, driving over the ball and presenting opportunities for Matthew to feed out to the backs.

Of course if you start to do the basics right the opportunities will appear and it wasnt long before we saw a vintage performance from Liam, pounding his way through everybody to make several first class tries and showing everybody that behind the mouth lurks a raw talent. This in turn woke up team and again it wasn't long before we all heard ourselves saying 'If you had played that that in the first few games...etc etc.'

During Bryan and Ian's summary it was reiterated that we need to use the team and it cant be done on your own. Everybody got a mention and without exception it was agreed that the whole team showed improvement during the course of the morning. Daniel was picked out as a forward doing what he should do ie. making the opponents game a misery during the mauls whilst Matthew started so show some good imagination behind the scrum. Bryan awarded man of the match to Liam. No trophy though as Bryan again left it on the sideboard. Rumours are rampant now that in actual fact Bryan has smelted it down and bought Gabby a new ring!!!

My first year with Print Hut

Having now been at Print Hut for a year, which to be honest doesn't seem possible, things have certainly changed for the better.

The things that have occurred / happened whilst I have been are:

Moving premises to house all the new employees

Have a Print Hut uniform which comprises of a pink t-shirt & fleece

Had a Christmas night out

Got my own business cards

Now having a greater understanding of print

Print Hut has it's very own dog Leia who frequently joins us in the office

It's a great place to work and work for and long may it continue with all our hard work.

Research identifies a new breed of enterprising female entrepreneurs, dubbed 'Kitchen Table Tycoons' who successfully juggle the roles of mother and magnate.

St.Neots Mini Rugby Under 9's Training Report 17th January 2010

Well, welcome back all to the Match report and trainning blog for the St. Neots Under 9's Mini Rugby team. Seems ages since I posted the last report which is probably because it was, what with the Holidays and recent white stuff. Anyway I think everbody was really impressed this week with the massive improvement in the squad's overal discipline on the pitch and how the boys are now presenting the ball correctly when 'gone to ground' and the forwards driving over the ball. This has led to a game of rugby which is flowing with second and third phase balls; so well done to all. Off course we are seeing the occassional scrappy, panic passes, but that'll come in time . Tackling is also really moved on with confident solid tackling when it counts. The boys also are understanding their role in the team and not just running forward with the ball, but looking and sensing where their support should be and releasing the ball....

Bryan's round up praised all the boys picking out the ground play and the overal improvement as a team. Bryan also warned the boys that high tackling will not be tolerated in a match and that they need to go in lower in the future. There was no player of the week for a number of reasons, however the fact he left it at home was the major factor we thinks...

Jim, wont be with us for a few weeks as he about to go under the surgeon's knife for a knee operation, so he kindly gave us a rendition of John Travolta's iconic saturday Night Fever dance. Unfortunately the boys were obviously too young to appreciate it....however it didn't go unnoticed by me.... Well done Jim and thanks.

Finally speaking with Bryan in the bar afterwards, I am thinking of planning a Saturday Afternoon trip out to watch Bedford Blues play over at Goldington Road in a few weeks. The plan would be to all meet at Market Square in St.Neots and catch the X5 bus to the ground. I think the kids will get in Free and also a chance for the dads and mums to catch up and share in a few beers possibly. Here are two dates to start with:

30th January: Cornish Pirates

20th February: Doncaster. Early kick off due to 6 nations so not beyond the realms of possibility to catch this at the ground on the big screen

The best way to brand your company

We find ourselves harping on about the importance of brand to our clients, but have really given it little more attention that we would a corporate identity. However after much scratching about have I come up with this rather succinct description, that nails its role and the positive consequences if executed perfectly.

However as often the case easier said than done I’m afraid, particular for a small business and with the absence of a multi million pound budget!!

The American Marketing Association (AMA) defines a brand as a "name, term, sign, symbol or design, or a combination of them intended to identify the goods and services of one seller or group of sellers and to differentiate them from those of other sellers.

Therefore it makes sense to understand that branding is not about getting your target market to choose you over the competition, but it is about getting your prospects to see you as the only one that provides a solution to their problem.

The objectives that a good brand will achieve include:

· Delivers the message clearly

· Confirms your credibility

· Connects your target prospects emotionally

· Motivates the buyer

· Concretes User Loyalty

To succeed in branding you must understand the needs and wants of your customers and prospects. You do this by integrating your brand strategies through your company at every point of public contact.

Your brand resides within the hearts and minds of customers, clients, and prospects. It is the sum total of their experiences and perceptions, some of which you can influence, and some that you cannot.

A strong brand is invaluable as the battle for customers intensifies day by day. It's important to spend time investing in researching, defining, and building your brand. Getting your business known out in the big wide world

There is a lot to be said for the leaflets that come through each of our letterboxes, some may think they are a nusiance, but from a business perspective, they carry a lot more potential.

Remember leafleting is one of the most cost effective ways to get your message about your local service, product or business, out to the general public.

Today, in a recession every penny counts for your business. This is true for everyone from charities and non-profit organisations, to major blue chip companies and small and micro business.
