Oldies Love Songs

When the essential feature of harmony doesn’t clash with the essence of what a song is trying to convey, what you are are left with is an alluring melody that brings meaning and memories to the forefront of your mind. The development of certain songs can be a captivating tale, whether it’s because the lyrics come from the artist’s personal experience, based on a cultural legend, or tied to stories of past history.

It’s also surprising how timeless music can be as I discovered when listening to a few Oldies Love Songs CDs. Elvis, Tony Bennett, Buddy Holly – the styles change, but the essence of the songs really don’t. What I find fascinating about this ‘old’ music is that now with music files, these classic songs can be remixed, enhanced and sound better than they even did back then, giving new generations of music lovers the chance to enjoy something different than what they’re used to hearing on the radio.

The simplicity of many of the love song tracks from decades past result in being able to better hear the message of the lyrics themselves. It’s a little unexpected in this day and age, and isn’t typical of the cookie-cutter music that tends to be recorded now.

So while your parent’s (or grandparent’s) music may not fit into your everyday play list, it’s worth trying to fit a few songs in here and there. It’s fun and since you can just get a song here and a song there, it’s an affordable way to experiment with some different tunes. Little by little, you may just start to like it…!

Do you all love the ‘enchanting’ breakout TV show hit “Once Upon A Time” as much as I do?! I was so excited to hear that it was renewed for another season.

If you haven’t caught the show on ABC this past year, it releases August 28, on both DVD and Blu-ray. You can catch up on the adventures of Henry, Emma, Snow White and Prince Charming and the Evil Queen Regina who is trying to make their lives miserable.
