Waterfalls cascade down Ayer’s Rock of Australia

Ayer’s Rock or Uluru, a well known Australian landmark, remains almost arid throughout the year but a rare thunder storm of October 14, 2009 changed the scene completely. The 1,142 ft high rock having a circumference of 9.4 km experienced almost half a year’s rainfall in just one night. Out of 6.8 inches of rainfall experienced by the Uluru national park in the year of 2009, 2.8 inches happened the night of October 14. The rest is a history captured well in photographs showing waterfalls cascading down the rock, deep water pools formed at the base and frogs and birds chiming around.

Driving in Los Angeles, CA in 1940s – A Rare Video

You no longer have to wonder what it might looked like driving through the streets of LA back in 1940s after watching this video. Some of you (old enough) might recognize few buildings and patterns even now. Whosoever digitized this video did a good job as there’s no shakiness or blurriness and the clip looks like being captured today but without colors. The following two pictures show the tunnel that remained the same but the surroundings changed with time. I’m sure the locals of LA can identify several such spots.

You can sit back, relax and watch this video and see if it reminds you of something familiar.

There are 2500 frames captured in every second making it a super slow motion video. A Scottish Artist, Rob Mulholland has built a range of sculptures out of Perspex glass that camouflage themselves into the background and appears at you suddenly as you change your perspective. According to the artists these sculptures represent people from the past who once occupied and lived in this space. The figures reflect the changes of the surroundings in themselves hence representing the daily changes happening around.

We have seen many forms of art that amazes us in different perspectives. This relatively classic art form termed “anomorphic illusions” is getting popular during designing buildings, especially in hallways, stairs and entrances.

Tunnel of Love in Ukraine

There’s a place in Kleven, Ukraine where the train track is naturally covered with beautiful trees making a tunnel around it. The locals call it the Tunnel of Love due to its sheer beauty and romantic surroundings. We’re not sure whether the train still operates on this track or not but this is indeed a sight to be seen.
