Rashad Alakbarov, an Azerbaijan-based artist, uses common objects and some intelligently placed light in the back to create amazing shadow paintings. These paintings are roaming around the web for quite some time now and many claim that they’re Photoshop. But we dug into the sources and managed to confirm that they are authentic and real.

The new buzz word around is 3D, thanks to the new digital media that brought the 3rd dimension of viewing pleasure into prospect. The current movie, animation and digital gaming is full of 3D titles that have transformed our preferences into the third dimension. This artwork has been designed by a Japanese artist Yuki Matsueda. The artists depicts the desire to escape from the constraints, what he calls the standard of the ordinary through these awesome 3D visuals.

For the avid 3D enthusiasts, we have gathered some of these selections that adds a third angle to conventional 2D wall postings. These will become mainstream soon if the current trends continue.

When a Word is Worth a Picture

A former creative director at Google and now at Facebook, Ji Lee, wrote a book named Word as Image containing just 100 words. But these words-images don’t use any graphic content except the elements of the letters in the word itself. According to Lee, thus project started about 20 years ago when he got an assignment in typography class. He was really amazed how the letters can be modified to shapes giving infinite many possibilities. From there on, Lee took this art as a lifelong project for himself.

‘When we were children, letters were like fun toys. We played with them through our building blocks and we colored them in books. Soon, letters turned into words. Words turned into sentences. Sentences turned into thoughts. And along the way, we stopped playing with them and stopped marveling at A through Z. Word as Image brings a little magic back to the alphabet by helping us see the fun and humor behind the lines and squiggles’ – Ji Lee.

A 60-Foot Sliding Rock in North Carolina

This natural mountain slider attracts thousands of visitors every year in Pisgah National Forest, North Caroline during the summer season. A natural waterfall runs over this 60-foot slider-rock and splashes into 8-foot deep pool in the midst of this forest. People wait anxiously for their turn to slide over the rock, into the pool, and then swim few feet across to get to the shore.

Usually 11,000 gallons of water passes over the rock in every minute but the site is closed when water level gets high or during lightening in the sky. The pool is eight-foot deep that means you need to know how to swim but don’t worry; there’s a lifeguard appointed by the authorities along with a restroom and a changing room. Lamps made out of Books that you don’t Read Anymore

An artist from New York City, Allison Patrick, came up with the idea to use book-paper and turn them into ‘eco-friendly’ lamps. As, e-readers and e-books are gaining fame, conventional books are finding new homes, mostly with artists. Some carve them to make landscape while others do paper art and now we have lamps! The concept of paper lamps is not new, but you can actually buy these ones from here.

There are lamps made with different types of books for different taste of people. For example there’s a funky one made with comic book pages and a cocktail one made with a mixture of different colored pages. Beside books she also uses other material like pull tabs and plastic bags in the design.

Apartment with Walls made out of 25K Ping Pong Balls

An artist based in Brookyn has been a little abode, a mere 90 square feet. The room has primarily two functions; sleeping and changing. Though the walls of this room are made of up gray and white ping pong balls that act like a large pixelated screen. It took him more than 25,000 balls to cover the whole space creating a majestic look all over.

The most daunting factor is the simplicity of the whole decor; just a small bed and changing area and a small ladder to climb back to the ‘normal’ world. It took almost 2 weeks to design the loft with a cost of $100 per square feet, it must sound an exciting deal to sport lovers.

If you want to look different from others, you must think out-of-the-box the way you dress. One such passionate person is Lumen Bigott who is a Graphics Designer from Venezuela. She came up with the idea to take ordinary Keds sneakers and redesign them for social media lovers. The outcome was so brilliant yet decent enough to go with any casual dressing. Unfortunately these are just concepts but many of us would definitely want the shoemakers to offer these design.

I’ll say only one thing; our children may never be able to appreciate the beauty of these trains and the amazing landscapes on their routes. Some of these images are as old as 1960 but I’ve tried to put relatively latest photographs to get better image quality. A4 Paper Art by Peter Callesen [DIY]

This simplistic yet elegant art comes from Peter Callesen, an artist from Denmark who attended four different Art and Architecture courses and has over 14 different solo exhibitions in over 7 countries to his name. Peter chose A4 paper for most of his artworks because it’s very common and most of the people can easily relate to it. His objective was to show that a material as simple as A4 paper can also be turned into a beautiful artwork. Apparently there’s no end to innovation in art, we encourage you to try few of these at your home.
