It's a decision: beat the duvet / blankets and get out in the early morning, cos "the earlybird catches the worm" or in our case, the best light.
Look aroound you, find the places that people love and associate with, get that special image and look at the result.
Made me feel good I made that effort at 8 a.m.!

This won a competition several years ago in Chile for a local Tourism Agency.

Two hour photo shoot last night ends up with a few to remind me night shots are fun! Also testing Minolta 28mm lens kindly given to me by friend who no longer uses his SLR - THANKS, Adrian!!!
Tips: you gotta GET DOWN, find the angle, this was as near the water I could get.
Check 'More Properties' to see settings, ISO 800, night view setting in camera, daylight WB (whoops, didn't set that one!!) Flash automatic, so fingers in front to block light as it was picking up 'gunge' on the water!

1) Good light
2) tripod
3) nice rain
4) black, foam board (try local art shop)
5) fill screen with flower
and... macro setting, of course!

This is my latest sale, to a local Coctail Bar here in Bedford! There were white, white walls begging for something to decorate them, so I plucked up courage to go and talk with the manager who turned out to be very interested in the idea.
i thought the theme of fruit would be suitable and came up with these to start with... He also ordered a 20 image CD of images to project on the wall.
HOORAY!
If you believe you have some images to sell, try to get yourself known locally; take a portfolio of your images (or, if you have a Flickr account send a link to your Flickr galleries).
It's working for me, and I have sold over a dozen now, in 6 months!

This remarkable bird takes such an effort to get off the 'ground'...
It is something to watch and here you can see the 'splash marks' as the great weight gets off the 'tarmac'.
If you feel you've had enough at work, or the family situation is getting too much, get out to a country park this weekend and watch NATURE: the water, the birds, the animals, there's plenty to see!
This was taken at Harrold Country Park, Bedfordshire, UK.

Photographing birds (you may prefer wild animals...) is great fun, because of their pristine colours, their individual characters and their movements. After the Bedford Swans, the Canada Geese are an attraction on the river here. This lone one was just pottering by the water so I stopped, crouched down on my stomach and watched, snapping away with the zoom lens... memorable moments.

top photo: 1/250 sec, f.8, focal length 210 (equiv. 35mm = 315mm)
