Note: We used windows XP because there were issues encountered with Windows 7.

Applications to install:

1. QMAT  – this is used to read the code from the device and save it into file (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/other/8/qmat-1730/)
2. Extract Test – Will be used to read the code from Qmat. (http://tp.lc.ehu.es/anonym/win95/extxt103.exe)
3. Unlocker – An executable file used to input code to unlock your huawei mifi. (http://www.dc-files.com/files/huawei/modems/E5832s/other/CardLock_UnLock.exe)

After you have installed all the necessary programs we can now start unlocking your device huawei portable wifi.

STEPS:

1. Remove SIM and connect your device to PC
2. Open QMAT and go to Hardware Forensics > Use Mobile Ports 
3. From QC Com Diag window select HUAWEI Mobile Connect – 3G Application Interface. 
4. From diag command select 00 and click SEND – if it’s successfully connected you should get numbers and characters as below and “Successfully send command” message. 
5. From Diag Functions select Read EFS from dropdown and tick Alternative Method then click Lets Go – After this you will be asked to save the log file. 
6. You should see “successfully read EFS” message from text box. 
7. Open extract text, go to text options and configure it as below 
8. Open log file created in QMAT then enter filename to save as 
9. From the extracted text, copy the last one or the first one or the number that appears only once. one of them is your unlock code! You can use notepad++ to easily track repeated numbers if you want
10. Open card unlocker, enter code from step 9 and click OK.  

Your portable modem should be unlocked now, congratulations! Test it with a different SIM.

The vulnerability of the iPhone 4 and 4S made companies that specialise in iPhone 4 repairs very popular indeed. A report by electronics insurer SquareTrade in late 2012 shows that since 2007 the iPhone repair business in America has surpassed $5.9 billion. The cost of repairs out of warranty is around $199 for new models and $149 for older versions. These figures don’t even reflect the true number of damaged phones as the survey revealed that many people will put up with broken and cracked phones. iPhone 4s Broken Screen

Thankfully it appears that the demand for more durable devices is prompting manufacturers to produce better handsets. The iPhone 5 shows some improvement, especially in drop tests, taking quite a beating in several videos online. The glass back has been replaced by coloured aluminium in a unibody structure that adds considerable strength. Unfortunately the iPhone 5 appears to suffer more greatly from light wear and tear. Users report that the phone appeared scuffed and scratched around the edges in a matter of weeks. The scuffing seems so serious that it has been dubbed ‘Scuffgate’ online. Whatever the new models look like I do think Apple are taking note of the public demand for stronger cases and will act accordingly. For a price of $50 for a full HD media player, I think this is a good buy. It can play most of the popular formats and latest media files. If you are on a tight budget, looking for a good HD media player, you might want to consider this. The one thing I would want to include here though is LAN/wireless support, but that would mean increase in price as well. If you need network-enabled player then this is not for you.

Updating Xtreamer Elvira Firmware

Download firmware http://download.xtreamer.net/Firmware/Elvira/Elvira%20V20120726European.rar

After you have downloaded it extract the rar file. You will see install.img, copy that to your USB drive.
Turnoff your Elvira player and unplug power. Insert USB drive and plug Elvira to power while pressing the power switch for 5-10 secs. You should see install procedure after that.

However installing almost every app you want is impossible with these devices. It won’t be long before you need to uninstall those apps that are taking space because you are annoyed with the “low disk space” notifications almost every time you open your phone. You could probably move some apps to SD but not all files will be transferred. The best way you do this is to use Move2SD, App2SD or Link2SD. You can use any of those I mentioned but I prefer Link2SD because this one worked for me.  If this doesn’t work for you feel free to use any app2sd scripts you want. It might not be a solution to install everything from the market but you can double or even triple your application capacity by doing this without using your internal memory.

Before I can show you how to install apps to your external disk you will need to root your phone first. There are different ways to root on every device, read about it and do it yourself. Here’s how I did it with LG, HTC and Samsung.

If your phone is already rooted then lets start!

Partitioning your memory card

The secondary partition of your SD card will be used as the installation location of your apps. We can use partition wizard that can be downloaded [here] for free, select home edition.

Step 1:
Insert your microSD card to your card reader

Step 2:
Open partition wizard, you should be able to see your SD card mounted in one of the drives. (Mine is drive F/Disk 3 from below picture)

Step 3:
Select your memory card drive and right click > Move/Resize partition, or you can just click Move/Resize Partition from the left sidebar.

Step 4:
Enter partition size. The Partition size is your current MircoSD size, lowering this down will increase “Unallocated Space After”, this will be the size of your second partition. In my case I used 1Gb for the unallocated partition. After that Click OK

Step 5:
Right Click and select Create on the unallocated partition. Use FAT32 as file system to be safe, or EXT 2/3/4 instead if you know what you are doing. Select “Primary “ not Logical from Create As dropdown if you will be using it for Link2SD.

Click OK

Step 6:
Click Check button to Apply.

Step 7:
Wait for it to complete

Step 8:
Click OK on “Apply all the pending changes successfully”

Eject your SD card and insert it on your android phone. Download and install Link2SD from GooglePlay

After installation open link2SD. You will be asked to grant superuser request, click allow

Configuring Link2SD

Step 1:
Select filesystem of your SD card. Since we’ve used FAT23 as filesytem on our second partition, select FAT32/FAT16 from the option

Step 2:
Restart your phone

Step 3:
Open Link2SD after restart. Select menu button > Settings > Auto link settings
Tick all 3 checkbox. Press back, select Auto link and Auto link notification

Step 3:
Check installed apps if they are moved/linked to SD card by filtering > User. You can see linked apps has “Linked -> SD Card”. If you can see “on SD Card” instead these are not yet transferred to your secondary partition.

Step 4:
Manually transfer files to secondary partition by tapping the app and popup will appear

select Create Link and tick 3 checkbox and press OK.

You can do multi-select from the menu.

Only move user apps not System files.

Step 5:
You’re done! You can check storage of your secondary partition by going to Menu > Storage Info

There you go. You can now install apps directly to your secondary partition. If you insert your phone to USB storage to your PC, you will not be able to see your secondary storage, as it remains mounted as internal memory of your phone.

To begin your installation Open your terminal Press CTRL+ALT+T and run the following command line by line. The following command will add classical menu repository to your computer and will add classical menu indicator after running install command.

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:diesch/testing

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install classicmenu-indicator

Note: You will see indicator at top panel like shown in screenshot above after the restart of your computer.

Final Conclusion: Classic Menu indicator helps you to easily browse the application installed in your system. It would be helpful for those who have migrated from another operation system like windows who are habituated using menu to browse anything in the computer.

What you will need:

1. Download and install Android SDK (you will only need some files here.)
2. Download and install HTC Syc
3. Register HTCdev account http://www.htcdev.com/
4. Download Recovery Files
5. Download Superuser zip

Step 1: Unlocking your Bootloader

HTC provides a very detailed guide to unlock your bootloader so I will not be duplicating that. Sign in to HTCdev and goto http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader. If you cannot see HTC explorer from the supported devices yet, select All Other Supported Models instead.

Click Begin Unlock Bootloader, you will be redirected to “Unlocking Bootloader Instructions”. Follow the steps (If I’m not mistaken there are 14steps) and after you have completed the process you should see this screen on your phone.

Select YES then restart.

Step 2: Add recovery

This recovery tool will allow you to install ROMs or apps in zip format that are compatible with your device. This is required so that we can install the superuser.zip (root app) on the next step.

Boot to Fastboot mode, hold volum down + power button and select FASTBOOT

Connect your USB to PC and select HTC SYC (you don’t need to open HTC Sync from your computer, just wait for the driver to install successfully)

Unzip and extract “A310E Recovery.zip” from your PC. Click Command Prompt shortcut to open. Type recovery.bat then press ENTER.

Now that we have installed recovery, we can now proceed rooting your phone.

Step 3: Rooting

Boot to Fastboot mode again, hold volum down + power button and select RECOVERY

Go to Mounts and Storage > Mount USB Storage

Connect your device to your computer, copy Superuser.zip to SD card then go back to RECOVERY menu.

Select “install zip from SD Card” menu, browse Superuser.zip by using vol + (up), vol – (down) and power button (accept/enter) then install. You will be notified when it’s done. Go back to main menu and select reboot.

Congratulations your HTC pico is now rooted!

There are other methods available, but to save myself a lot of time I used iAtkos instead because the installer is already bootable.

What do you need to do before you install?

1. Check your hardware – Are you using an Intel processor? What motherboard, videocard? Etc. If you are have an Intel processor and a compatible motherboard there is a good chance that it will work. Check hardware compatibility list here [link]
2. Read – go to hackintosh forums and websites and read! If this is your first time expect your whole weekend trying to fix problems and reinstallations.
3. Time and Patience – a lot. If you don’t have these two then don’t start this project.
4. Exta hardisk – It’s best to install on a separate hard disk. Or if you are ready to reformat your existing harddrive it’s up to you.
5. Basic knowledge in installing OS. If you have installed windows, linux or any other OS then you’re fine.
6. And of course the installer.

Everything is working. I can easily connect to Wi-Fi using CDR-king LO series receiver with kernel extensions above. I’ve been testing it for a month now and everything is running smoothly.
