Last week he bypassed ASLR or Address Space Layout Randomization, which is an important stage of the process but it is still far from being complete. Though Pod2g team has the exploit required creating the new jailbreak, it doesn’t always mean that jailbreak is near, it could take months to be completed. So iOS 5.1 users be patient! You can’t do anything but wait. Or you can use the tethered version if you want.

Saturday morning, I downloaded Diablo 3’s beta release to my PC and waited for almost 24 hours to complete the download (I work on 100-150kbps, so it lasted that long), and to my dismay it didn’t run because my video card is not supported. I tried to download it again on my laptop hopeful that I can at least save 5000 bucks for a new video card. I have to play Diablo 3 no matter what!

Though I was not yet able to play the beta version, I’m glad that I was able to try the beta release before pre-ordering online. Now I know what I need to do first before getting the official release. Buy a new video card!

This tutorial is also applicable to any android phone that is not using any moded firmware.

Before we start, ensure that

1. Your phone can connect to the internet either by GPRS/3G or wifi connection. If you don’t have a wifi or can’t use data you can skip option 1 and proceed to option 2.
2. You have a Google account.

Option 1

Connect to wifi or gprs/3g network and setup your android market/google play.

1. Go to setting > accounts & sync
2. Tap add account



3. Enter your gmail account and password.
4. Select sync all if you want your contacts and calendar to be downloaded on your phone.
5. Save
6. Go to app drawer and open google play/market
7. If it asks for email and password enter your gmail account and password again then continue.
8. Google play will load and all apps will be displayed if successful.



9. Select one app and tap download. It will automatically install if download is successful.
10. You’re done! You can see your new installed app on your app drawer.

Another way to install app is to download from your computer and copy to sd card or phone memory. But you cannot download apps from the market using your PC and upload it to your phone. You can download apps from other sites instead and upload the apk file to your phone but there are security risks involve. If you are OK to take that risk then go on.

Option 2

Download APK file from the internet

1. Connect USB to PC
2.  Turn on USB storage
3. Copy and paste APK to your phone
4. Open Settings > Applications
5. Check Unknown Sources to allow installation of non-Market applications. Tap back to home.



6. Go to folder where you uploaded the apk file
7. Open the file, tap install.
8. If installation is successful you can see the icon on your app drawer.

A mock-up video about Project Glass can be viewed in YouTube, the video shows the capabilities of the augmented reality glasses. The person wearing the glasses provides a walkthrough of Project Glass features, using voice command to send messages, viewing maps and getting directions on the best routes to take, taking photos and even online chat and more.

For some, it looks like what Vegeta of Dragon Ball Z is wearing. Good news is that Google’s still exploring different designs for the Project Glass to give it a more stylish appeal. They are looking into having it fit easily on existing glasses. Co-founder of Google, Sergei Brin was spotted wearing a prototype of the augmented reality glasses and finds it very useful.

Project glass is expected to be out in the market by the end of 2012 and is said to cost around $250 to $600. For now, Google is still on the testing stage and they are open for suggestions and feedback that could help them further improve Project Glass. Instagram is a camera app which allows users to capture photo, apply desired filters and share photos with friends and followers.

Because of its awesomeness this actually made it to my “why I should buy an iphone” list, but it’s more practical for me to buy an android phone so I just bought vignette app instead.
There were compatibility issues on the first release but it was fixed on the version 1.0.4. Some of the fixes are photos not appearing on the gallery, compatibility issues for tablets and SDcard install. Make sure you have the recent update.

I downloaded it myself and it’s all good. There is not much difference compared to the iOS version aside from the blur function and 3 other sharing options (flicker, email and posterous). On the other hand, Facebook has agreed to buy Instagram for $1 Billion. The deal is expected to close by the end of June. “I’m excited to share the news that we’ve agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook” said Mark Zuckerberg on his post on Facebook.

Aside from the digital pre-purchse, others like myself will still opt to purchase the retail/boxed DVD for PC Windows Vista / Windows 7 and Mac. Blizzard Entertainment will also release Diablo III: Collector’s Edition though the date for its release, suggested retail price and other details were not yet announced at this time.

I started playing Diablo II in 2001 and got hooked with it. My office colleague was the one who introduced me to it, he installed Diablo II on my computer. I got addicted to the game, my mom used to scold me because I was up all night playing. I wanted to relive those moments ,so just recently, my sweetie bought me a Diablo II pack to keep me busy while he’s working on his computer at night.

We had problems though with the installation since my laptop is running on Windows 7. Diablo II pack is compatible to Windows Vista and Windows XP. We were able to install the game but the images were discolored, it only shows green and red colors on the screen. If you’re experiencing the same problem with the install, below is the quick fix you could use:

Diablo 2 on Windows 7 fix

1. Set Windows XP compatibility for diabloII.exe
- Right click diabloII.exe > compatibility
- Tick compatibility mode and set Windows XP Service pack 3
- Tick disable visual themes
- Tick disable desktop composition

2. Launch screen resolution window from desktop and leave it open
3. Launch diabloII.exe. On the game option window you will notice green and red colors, now ALT – TAB to minimize the game then maximize again.

After doing the steps above, viola! Diablo II is on!!!

As other devices are now enjoying honeycomb and ICS, owners of this device are hopeful for an ICS custom ROM soon, but before that let us work on the gingerbread firmware for now.

Why should you update to Gingerbread?

For me it’s for performance, it’s the only reason I upgraded it. I noticed the lag on the dropdown notification is already gone. Fling on application drawer is now smoother even without overcloking it. Not much change on the looks other than icons and gradient effects.

What you will need:

1. Odin tool [download]
2. Latest FROYO firmware [download]
3. Kernel [download]
4. Gingerbread firmware please use P1010XEUKPG or P1010XEUKPI  [download]

Step 1: Install the lastest Froyo firmware

Extract all zip files. Open Odin tool and follow the following checkbox options

1. Click PIT and select P1010XWKC1_OXX directory, add p1wifi_20110128_r10_00.pit
2. Click PDA and select P1010XWKC1_OXX directory, add P1010XWKC1-REV03-ALL-low-CL946441.tar.md5
3. Click CSC and select P1010XWKC1_OXX directory, add GT-P1010-MULTI-CSC-OXXKC1.tar.md5
4. Put tab on download mode (Power down tab and push POWER + Volume down) connect cable in USB, you should see it connected in Odin. If your tab is not recognized download and install the USB drivers first [download]

If all is OK click start to start flashing. Don’t do anything unless it says it’s done.

Step 2: Flash the kernel

After you are done with step one it will boot to latest froyo firmware, turnoff again and go to download mode as before.

1. Add P1010ZHKF1-KERNEL-eng.tar in PDA field.
2. Un-tick CSC, and re-partition. See below for details
3. Click Start to flash.

Step 3: Flash Gingerbread

Here we will flash Gingerbread.

1. Add P1010XXKPG_P1010XEUKPG_HOME.tar.md5 in PDA field.
2. Leave re-partition, F. reset time and CSC. See details below
3. Click Start to flash

This might take 5 – 10 minutes, take a deep breath and wait.

When you hear it boots with a different sound then you know you have flashed it correctly. Wait for it to boot properly then disconnect USB.

Simsimi is a chat robot app that responds to your messages. I had fun chatting with simsimi and thought I’d give a brief review about it.
Like a virtual assistant app, Simsimi requires internet connection before you can use it. The responses are both funny and ridiculous depending on the questions you’re asking. If you are being rude you can get offended by Simsimi’s response as well. If I didn’t know that this is an app I would actually think that someone is chatting with me.
You can also teach Simsimi how to respond to messages. I conversed with it in Tagalog and it replied in Tagalog, this is because someone must have already taught Simsimi how to respond in this dialect. I tried Ilocano and guess what? It replied Idiay adda ti load and kuripot.

If you want to teach Simsimi, you have to authorize it with your Facebook or email account. Downside about this app is that users teach the response to questions, because of this, you may receive foul languages as a response.

Teach responsibly, you can report Simsimi if it is being rude by touching its speech bubble. If you don’t want to be responded by offensive words (especially if a child would try using this app), disable offensive language in settings instead.

Though it doesn’t support voice recognition/response I don’t consider it as a downside since Simsimi supports multiple languages. It’s useless if it doesn’t understand the language you are using.

Overall it’s a fun app just don’t get too attached with it =)
