// -->

Because what get indexed is not always what you like…

While most of the time during your online experience your goal will be to get content and information about you and your business published and indexed, it will come some days or situations where some information with a negative impact on your business may found its place in the search engines results.

Today’s post is aimed at helping you deal with bad content or content who could have a negative impact on your overall online business or presence online, be it a bad review or outright uncalled criticism…

Be Cautious As To What You Disclose

This may sounds overly obvious, but the very first step is to protect your privacy and make sure that you are very careful as to what kind of information you disclose on your site (or third party site).

Ask yourself if such information could affect your privacy or being used in a negative way that could potentially harm your business before releasing it.

Internet made it very easy to find information and luckily (most of the time) search engines are more and more skillful when it comes to finding new content on internet…

So even if you haven’t submitted your private story to any search engines or given the link to anyone, this doesn’t mean that someone may not have the chance to get access to this information.

Get At The Root Of The Problem

Assuming that it’s already too late, and the negative content is already published and possibly indexed in the search engines, the very first step you should take is to find the source of this content and remove it from there.

If the content is posted on your site or a site you have access to, simply remove the content yourself. As the content will be refreshed during the next crawling by the search engine and the cache updated, the bad content will automatically be dropped.

If the content (such as medias and photos) are posted on a third party site (Facebook, YouTube, etc…) that you have access to, while you don’t own the site, you should be able to remove the unwanted pictures yourself.

Now, assuming that you have not direct access to the source of the content or you are not the owner of the site publishing it, you should contact the webmaster of the said site and request the change to be made.

Balance Negative With Positive

Because things don’t always work the way we want, often you’ll come across situation where the webmaster will refuse to remove the content in question.

Their attitude is not always despicable and they may have a valid reason to think or decide not to do so.

Now, that being said, if you are the victim of this bad review or negative story your best alternative is then to camouflage this bad in the middle of a lot of good.

Be proactive and start to publish and have a lot more positive stories and comments to be indexed alongside this bad comment and preferably even outrank it in the search engines in such way that it became almost invisible.

So rather than being stuck with 1 bad review about your services in the search engines dramatically affecting your business, if you can add to it 9 positive reviews, people will quickly forget about the bad one, or even consider it a forged one.

In Conclusion

No one likes to see bad things about them, and even less if it makes it in the top of the search results, that being said, it’s important for us to learn how to deal with them.

Not only that but it’s also important to realize that the search engines don’t own the internet and there’s very little they can do to help you in such situation so make sure to take proactive steps and safe keep your business image!

Since May of this year I’ve been doing more article writing since it’s part of the weekly blogging services I provide. Then when I recently started my micro niche websites, article writing became an even more important part of my backlink building. This is when much work is done to try to rank all my niche sites in Google’s Top Search Engine.

Well today as I was thinking about what to write for my next blog post, I figured it would be a good idea to critique my own past article writing and share with anyone interested on what are some of the changes I am making to achieve my current objectives. On the same breath I will also share some changes that I’ve recently implemented too.

Why is The Article Title or Headliner so very important

Besides the author’s bio provided at the resource box, the article title or headliner is the most important text in your article. Now just to put things into perspective here if I may compare an analogy with what experts giving Tips on Public Speaking say “…. the first 10 words are more important than the next 10 minutes…” Similarly people giving article writing tips say “…the first 10 words (the title) are more important than the next 300 words (the body)…”

I strongly believe this to be very true and I can just show you one particular article I wrote in Ezinearticles dated May 8, 2009 and the same article re-written on June 12, 2009:

the one on May 8, 2009:

the one on Jun 12, 2009:

Clearly you can see that the first title looks much better, more inviting and asks a question which is one of the recommended article writing tips. Because there is such a big gap of readers’ views it does make perfect sense to spend that extra effort to write a more enticing article headliner don’t you think? Also if you noticed the first one, 112 readers clicked the author bio’s link compared to just 6 for the second. Well what can I say but first impressions last!

Write Short Articles

Ever since May 2009, I have changed my article writing style to write short articles and have the contents list the numbered points or tips I’m presenting e.g. “Discover 5 Article Tips To Make Your Writing Quick and Easy”. This is perhaps the simplest form of writing an article, at least how I’m finding it. I prefer to write short articles because:

it’s easy to write and it’s easy for the reader to understand just what you are writing

it takes a shorter time to write - Ezinearticle accepts 250 words minimum articles so it suits me fine.

if I write too long I could use the extra points to write another new article with similar topic thereby maintaining the 250 minimum I like to keep at. I get to publish 2 instead of 1 article in this way.

What’s your Objective in Article Writing?

Different writers have different purpose or objective whenever they write articles and publish them at article directories. That determines the kind of topic you can write about. This is especially true if you have lots of websites with diverse niches in your business. For example for my micro niche adsense websites which I focus entirely on products, I never write articles on products as that would be too boring. Instead I write about things that interest me like Internet Marketing which is a lot easier with many broad categories that I can focus on. Fortunately the article directories I submit to do not care much if the content is totally different from the resource box in terms of niches and topics.

My main objective of my article writing today is solely for backlink building for my niche sites and not for any traffic generation strategy. The traffic comes when the keywords I’m ranking for them achieved Google’s Page 1. So far together with Angela’s Backlink Building Program, it has yielded me the results I want.

A new way of getting contents to write your articles

If like me, you have been writing for a while there is one quick and easy way to get contents to write - yes re-write them just like the example I showed you above. Sometimes when I read some of my earlier articles, I couldn’t believed I had written them so poorly. But it’s understandable, we like to think that over time, we learned how to write better, more enticing articles.

A new way of getting new free backlinks from your old articles

I am quite sure for most of us, we have purchased many different domains over a period of time; created many websites and some of them may be inactive. You probably like to terminate them at the next domain renewal. Well if you have written and published articles with links on your resource box pointing to such domains, you are about to get free backlinks. Just go to the particular article directory and edit the links to point to your other websites. I have just got some of them this way over the last one week. I won’t be surprised if some of you didn’t realize that, being caught up in the frenzy of ‘too much to do in so little time’ syndrome.

Since my recent posts on Building Micro Niche Websites and Interview with John “Xfactor’s” Micro Niche Adsense Course Creator, I received some requests from readers to show my niche sites or give more details about John’s course. I was deliberating how best to share any information that I’m allowed to do so without infringing upon the consent of not sharing specific information upon purchasing Xfactor’s adsense blueprint.

I finally found the perfect solution and I am now about to share with you here, yeah exclusively on this home business blog. Here is a summary of some of the replies that John gave to people who asked him in a Warrior Forum thread. What had originally started of as an adsense discussion turned into a free adsense course:

Start of Free Adsense Course-John “Xfactor’s” Micro Niche Adsense

Q1: Have you changed your template much from what you were using in November?

Xfactor: Yes I have, but not too much. I’ve done a few tweaks but they seem to have made a big difference. I now use very high-quality headers too, and I put my menu on the right side. I’m still keeping 1 Adsense block under the title with all white backgrounds.

Q2:How do you get such high CTR’s ?? Where do you put your ads and could you share with us your template?

Xfactor: Nothing out of the ordinary, like before: 1 Adsense block above the content. The trick is in the niche you select - people who are searching for products and product prices/deals just love to click them. (Peter: take note when you reduce the no. of adsense block on a page, this increases your cost per click on the ads)

Q3: When do you start to put your adsense when you create a new site? Do you use WordPress or static sites?

Xfactor: I put Adsense on new sites immediately. I use Static sites only, Xsitepro (Still using Version 1)

Q4: How many unique visitors do you get on a site on an average?

Xfactor: It varies. Some sites only get about 50 visitors a day or even lesser while others get hundreds. It depends a lot on the niche, the keywords, etc.

Q5: So when you say product you mean like Brand-Productname(modelname) .com or More Broad Product domain name like babyearthermostats..?

Xfactor: Yes I do use brand names but only on some of my sites, but I do not recommend that as the company can request you to shut your site down.

Q6: What criteria do you use to determine whether you can get your page ranked for your keyword on Google’s first page?

Xfactor: It all depends. But I found using Micro Niche Finder makes it very easy. You have to look at competing sites, search counts and strength of competition. Sometimes it does not turn out as easy as I had planned, but most times it does.

Q7: What kind of content do you use for the products?

Xfactor: I simply rewrite the product reviews that I find from places selling them like Amazon, product manufacturers, etc.

Q8: Do you use a unique domain name for each of your niche sites, or do you use subdomains?

Xfactor: I prefer using separate domains. That’s very important for the 1 main keyword you are trying to rank. The domain should have this keyword.

Q9: Can you please share with us about your article distribution strategy? You mentioned that you submit 5 articles to 5 directories.

Xfactor: Sometimes I just use 1 article directory, other times 5, sometimes just 2. At rare times, zero. It doesn’t really matter, so long as you find a comfortable way of getting your backlinks. I just prefer writing and submitting articles.

Q10: Will I be able to see any one of your sites.

Xfactor: I will never risk my Adsense account being shut down, so no, I will not show any of my sites for this reason. But it’s just like many other site, nothing fanciful. But… I do make sure my colors and space is used to appeal the ads for the visitors and what they are looking for.

1) I put a quality header. But, some of my sites do not even have a header, just some graphics below a solid color title. Again, this is small stuff, so go for a header.

2) I put my menu on the right side, along with some graphics above.

3) On every page I put a small menu which goes horizontally, in blue links.

4) Below those menu links is my page title.

5) Below the title I put just 1 Adsense block, blue links, gray text, black URL.

5) Then the content.

Q11: I do know of a few CPA tricks you could mix in that would easily make more then what you’re making from adsense. just wondering why you have never used CPA as well?

Xfactor: Because if I do what 99% of all hopeful online marketers do, and lose focus, I’ll be less productive, less focused, and not nearly as confident in my work.

I have a system, which allows me to confidently find niches, put up sites, and increase my income without worrying too much about trying to profit from so many income streams at one time.

Q12: You find a keyword with a SOC (strength of competition) showing GREEN and has a number of 285. Searches are in the 35,000 range. Do you:

A) Jump for joy
B) register a domain with that keyword, build out a quick site, and then jump for joy?

Xfactor: Good question. I actually go for MUCH lower SOC numbers and competition
numbers, then jump for joy

Call me a scardy-cat, but I prefer going for SOC numbers less than 20 and competition number lower than 10,000.

Q13: …..I do get a lot of traffic but don’t seem to cash in just yet. Any advice?

Xfactor: Make sure:

1) your template looks commercial-like, with adsense ads above the fold and your site does not contain many little distraction links placed elsewhere. There is no one way to do this, you just need to experiment with different layouts.

2) Ensure that your keywords are serving up relevant ads, and that they are “buyer” ads. You need of course to do this before you start the niche, by first checking it out at spyfu.com

Q14: What’s your primary aim for writing articles? Is it just to get the backlinks, or do you try and optimize the articles so they bring traffic to you.

Xfactor: 1) NEVER optimize your articles with your keyword you are trying to rank. This is so you won’t have to worry about any article competition and beating your very own site. Just have the keywords in the anchor text.

And yes, I now write articles solely for getting Google’s link-juice only. I don’t do any other backlinking stuff as I don’t enjoy any of them.

2) I really don’t care about getting any affiliate sales on my sites so many of my sites do not contain any affiliate links.

This past week I came across 2 interviews with Micro Niche Adsense Course Creator John “Xfactor” but the one with James Jones as the interviewer is the one that matters more to me. Why? Because both guys John and James have a part to play in my Micro Niche Adsense Websites Taking off 3 weeks ago. If you have not read that post update, that’s because I purchased John’s ebook that to me spills the beans on how you can really make money with Google Adsense, down to what color of the template he suggests to you. James happens to be the creator of Micro Niche Finder which I purchased specifically to build my Micro Niche Websites.

I digress:

I have created 3 micro niche websites in 3 weeks and 2 have achieved Google’s #1 position so I am more than satisfied at my own little success in Google Adsense after following John’s adsense technique

Since Adsense is close to everyone’s heart, I thought it would be a good idea to do a quick review of this interview and share some of the tips he has given. I don’t want you guys (and gals) to miss out what this Adsense expert has to say that might somehow improve your adsense earnings.

James: …on issues of getting accepted to Google Adsense

John: John suggests to use blogger.com and open up a free blogger account and don’t sell anything on this site. Before you submit your application start writing your contents about 2-3 posts a day for the next 3 days. They can be very short posts perhaps not more than 2-3 paragraphs for each post and while you can write just about anything you like, make sure the contents looked good.

James: …on the difficulty of new websites needing good traffic to be able to perform well in adsense. How can a new website rank quickly in search engines to get those adsense clicks and start making you money?

John: John explains precisely that’s the reason why his income jumped so rapidly ($300 - $400 per day) because he stopped focusing on general niches and now focused entirely on Micro Niches. For example instead of making a website about say stereos, he would create a website on blue stereos which has much lower competition. Then by buying a domain with the keyword ‘blue stereo’ he now has a great chance of ranking on page 1 of Google with this keyword. From his own experience this is very common after just one week even with no backlinks yet.

John later qualified this statement adding that this works well only if you are using the Micro Niche approach whose sites are very targeted. If you are using a general niche approach, the keyword in the domain will never help much for your larger site built around many general terms. It will take much longer to rank in Google.

James: …on the question of what domain name to select and which domain extension is good

John: John agrees with James’ suggestion of domain name as example www.productname.com but says his preferred choice of the domain extension is .com followed by .org. If the name is taken just put a word towards the end of the keyword/product name.

James: ….on the danger of someone losing his Google Adsense account and losing all the potential earnings that go with it

John: John agrees on this possibility of someone losing his adsense account for whatever reasons like Google TOS violation. He does not worry too much about this since he built all his sites around specific types of niches and could use other means to make money should this happen. For him it’s simply a “switch over” alternative already in ready mode.

***End of Summary of Interview***

A Summary of what’s included in John Xfactor’s ebook:

“The Exact Steps That I Use To Earn $300 to $400 Every Day With Google AdSense”

The chapters are:

1. The Perfect AdSense Niches

XFactor explains why he prefers product niches compared to very competitive ones as they have low competition and are easily ranked in Google. As in all his chapters, he shares all his examples of niches he’s used and he shows you exactly how easy it is to write the content for the product niches.

2. My Keyword Research Approach

XFactor goes into every detail how he does his keyword research and domain registration. He uses Micro Niche Finder (MNF) as it meets all the requirements he needs but says that you could do with any other good keyword research tool to do this too.

3. Creating Your Website Content

He shows you just how easy it is to find your source material to build your website content. If you hate writing, you will soon find yourself saying you don’t hate it anymore after learning this step. He makes it so easy to do this.

4. My Highest Converting Template

XFactor shows you his complete HTML site he has tested that has worked for him right down to the colors he has tested. He now uses it for all his 40 sites and is in full compliant with Adsense Terms and Condition. He says revealing this template alone is worth the price you paid for the e-course and I tend to agree with him.

5. Getting Ranked & Making Money: Simple Article Marketing

XFactor uses only article marketing to get his sites to rank in Google by submitting articles to just a few major article directories, mostly EzineArticles. He explains a great deal about how he goes about doing it and he does not rely on any traffic from the article directories. Very simple, very logical and very clear in why he does what he does.

6. Putting Everything He has Taught You: 7-Day Action Plan

After going through all the chapters which have been so well explained even to the newbie doing adsense for the first time, John gives you his finale called the ‘7-Day Action Plan’. Here he guides you and has examples to show you yet again, everything summarized in what you should do from launching new sites to how to strategically write your articles on a day-by-day checklist to follow.

7. Growing Your Business

XFactor gives his final thoughts on making money online and how you can quickly adapt to any required changes including the dreaded possibility of getting banned on your Google Adsense account if you violated its Terms of Service.

His course comes with some video demo showing you his live version of a example site showing you the exact template he is using for all his websites. He makes available to all his members all updates to his ebook, and a forum which he is launching very soon to help members get even more from his proven Micro Niche Adsense Masters Course. He also answers all your emails on any question you may have, something which I’ve not seen others do quite religiously.

// -->

Crawling rate of your site is something very important for your site at all stages of its development.

When you start a fresh new website, getting your site crawled by the search engines is a priority for you because you don’t stand a chance to be indexed as long as the search engine spiders didn’t came to visit your site.

Once you are indexed, maintaining a good crawling rate is an important factor for your SEO work as it is not only a direct reflection of the importance the search engines give to your content, but also determine how quickly your fresh content will be updated and indexed in the search engines too.

Getting your site crawled for the first time

In order to optimize your chance of getting crawled quickly by the search engines, you have to work on two fronts:

On your site structure.

On your inbound links.

When it comes to your site structure, the very first thing you want to make sure of is that you don’t have any broken link on your site. The navigation should be very smooth and ideally anyone should be able to access any page of your site within 2 clicks of the mouse only.

Once your website is ready to be crawled by the search engine spiders, it’s now time to create inbound links (or ways for the spiders and bots) to find out about your site.

Search engines’ bots love to find new webpages on internet but hate to be told where they should go. Therefore try to avoid submitting your site for indexing as it’s a waste of time and could take you anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of month before you actually get indexed.

Instead focus on building multiple inbound links towards your site.

At this point, it’s important to state that inbound links that are create with the purpose of getting crawled by the search engines are of different nature than the one you potentially may use or be seeking to increase your PageRank score.

While in essence of the perfect link they would all be the same, reality is different and in our situation we are looking for some inbound links with specific characteristics:

Your backlink shouldn’t have any “nofollow” attribute or anything alike that would prevent your link to be visited by the search engines.

Your backlink should be on a page that is cached daily preferably.

The first point is obvious if the search engines can’t follow your link, your page or site can’t be crawled. As for the second point, the reason why you are seeking a page that is cached daily is simply because this means that the search engines like this page and know that it’s providing fresh quality content regularly.

As the page gets cached each and every day, all the new links on it get captured in the process to, and this is what you are looking for.

Having hundreds of backlinks to your site but having none of them on pages freshly cached is useless for your crawling rate (and linking strategy in general).

My site has been crawled and indexed what’s next?

Ideally, you’d be keeping up the good work and make sure that you are getting more and more of those good backlinks.

Noticed that I didn’t made mention of PageRank for those pages. When it comes to crawling this is not important, the caching rate of the page however is.

Having a backlink from a PR5 page that hasn’t been cached in over 2 weeks time is like not having backlink at all.

This apply to your global linking strategy, a backlink is only effective once it has been crawled.

So, beyond building more and more backlinks, you should also optimize your site structure even more.

Not only based on your topics and categories but also at the on page level. That’s right, you want your pages to be properly structured.

This will make your content friendlier to your visitors but also the search engines.

For instance, Google is now implementing Section Site links to provide quick shortcuts to specific sections and paragraphs of your content based on the structure you created.

There’s no need to say that without a proper structure, you’ll never get a chance to benefit from those Section Links…

Once you manage to have your site crawled and cached frequently, you’ll enjoy great reward for each of your new added content.

For example, my site is crawled 50-70 times daily in average by Google and cached daily or at least as soon as I publish fresh content. For me this translate in having any new post I publish on my blog to be indexed within minutes and reach the primary index in a few days only. Also any change I make on site is very quickly reflected in the search engines.

In Conclusion

Crawling of your site is all about structure and speed. Make sure that your site has multiple inbound links that are cached frequently and you’ll ensure that not only your content will be crawled and indexed, but also that none of your pages will be dropped from the search engines index.

Keep in mind that while getting indexed is crucial, being able to stay indexed is equally important.

A month ago, I would never have dreamed of associating “Keyword Research” with the word “Fun”. It would be unthinkable! But let’s just say Micro Niche Finder and launching of my first Micro Niche Website helped put things into perspective.

I digress:

It’s really funny how in my IM journey how I discovered things that sometimes changed completely…my thinking, my understanding, my perception, my mindset….my hopes

Does This Blog Really Need Micro Niche Finder?

The short answer is NO, not specifically, but as an internet business owner, it helps me look for new profitable niche markets. This blog is a communication tool I used to share with all my readers and visitors what I’ve learned in my IM journey. I was happy using all the free keyword research tools such as Google Adwords Keyword Tool and this free tool has served my needs in all my work on this home business blog. It’s only when my IM journey took a slight detour to the adsense route that I found these tools could no longer serve some of my needs or new ideas I have. Yeah like Micro Niche Website. I’m sure you may have encountered such experiences in your business as well and either wished you could do your keyword research faster OR have a better tool.

So What Can Micro Niche Finder do?

Just type in your keyword into MNF and you have loads of relevant keywords displayed in mere seconds including:

Keywords/long tail keywords: The main keyword is on the left side.

Search Count: This is the search volume as taken from the Google Keyword Tool
(exact phrase).

Exact Phrase Count: This is the number of competing websites.

Ad Cost: This is the approximate Ad Cost that company’s are bidding on this
word.

SOC: This is the “strength of competition”, along with a rating number and green
color light.

My favorite features:
1. The strength of competition (SOC) for each keyword phrase/long tail keyword is displayed with a rating number (see below). The higher this number the stronger your competition. A green “tick” means less of a fight to get top search engine ranking and a red “cross” tells you to forget it unless you know what you are doing :-)) You can see further breakdown into inanchor count, intitlecount and inurl count by just clicking a link.

2. When you are doing keyword research for a particular niche that you are interested, Micro Niche Finder has an excellent feature that allows you to either “broad dig” or “narrow dig” this keyword along with a host of other options. I have not seen any free tool that allows such flexibility with just one click.

Why Do I Need Micro Niche Finder

Many people who do not know keyword research enough will choose a keyword which has a low number of competing websites. This is really not necessarily accurate because there could be many niche keywords that have a high number of websites competing but with very low strength of competition. You could easily outrank many sites if you had such information - information that only a good software can give you. You don’t necessarily need MNF but something close to what it can offer should do.

Calculating the numbers of ‘inanchor/intitle/inurl’ counts is really hard work for someone looking to build many niche websites. It would be a worthy investment to simply purchase this software and save yourself some misery.

I made a mistake once when I chose a wrong niche - all because I wasn’t equipped with a good keyword tool. The niche is a real estate niche, a highly competitive one and I intended to choose a keyword phrase which is not too competitive. The result was disastrous. Here take a look at what MNF now tells me about this keyword:

Well I won’t make such mistakes again with my Micro Niche Finder. To sum up what I think about this tool is this. Before I purchased MNF, whenever I bought a new domain specifically for a niche that I wanted to go into, I go like “well well I hope this is a good niche for me”. Now with my MNF (and I just found my second micro niche website), I exclaimed “haha , I got a good one!”
