After screen printing for about 5 years, we’re finally working on our first process video. We could never have done one before. No one wants to see the struggle and carnage that characterized our earliest creations. But, ever since Dennis built our vacuum table, registration has been tight, misprints have been minimal, and whisper-swearing is heard a lot less around here. So, now that we have the printing part down, it’s time for new battles: a wobbly tripod, importing files, conversion and codecs and flux capacitors and lots of other things we know nothing about!

We’re almost done with the final edit, and best of all, we’ve got Detroit music holding it down on the soundtrack. Look for it tomorrow here on the blog, our Facebook page, The Twitters, and maybe even our email list that we haven’t used in over a year! Who knows, you guys. I’m kind of excited about this.

We’ll be ready to help you with your holiday shopping at three Michigan shows this year. We’ll have some new prints on hand, like Mr. Moose, above, who thinks he’s a Christmas tree. Some old favorites have been reprinted in new sizes and colorways as well. Our Etsy shop is always open for business, and you can high five us in person at the following events:

We were extremely excited to work with one of our favorite comedians, Mike Birbiglia, on the poster for his show, My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend, at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor.  If you are familiar with his standup, specifically his stories about his first relationships, then you may recognize the one our poster references from an episode of This American Life.  This poster is one of our most ambitious projects that we’ve done, from conception to hand pulling all 230 prints, we invested over 80 collective hours.  The posters measure 16″ x 20″, are three color screenprints, and will be available at the show on November 15th.  We will also have our copies available Monday morning in our Etsy Shop.

We chose to do a ghost girl haunting her dilapidated childhood treehouse. “Everyone Else Grew Up and Moved Away…Except Me” is a 3 color, 16×20 screenprint, edition of 48. We try to push ourselves to do new things at the last minute and the thing we tried to screw up this time was to create a transparent metallic pigment. The ghostly white/silvery ink took a few tries to get right but we love how it turned out. And now we have a big container of it! Ghosts for everyone!
