Look, it’s easy to remember each Leo Club must do .............................

All you need to do is to send the following items before the 5th of every month.

Complete the MAAR1 form as well as the PAR form (optional, provided there is a project report)
You are advised to re size all your photos before sending them. The photos must be converted to .jpg (JPEG) files!
Your monthly report file shall consist of MAAR1, PAR, Treasurer Report and must not exceed 3MB in total. ZIP up all your files in one file or convert all your files into a single PDF file.
You have to rename your zip/pdf file in order of the month of submission, your region and your club. For example, the Leo Club of SMJK Penang from Region 1 is to submit their July report filed as: 072007-r1-smjkpenang
Reports submitted after every 5th of the month is considered late but we will still accept your submission after 5th of the month.

Guidelines for District 308 B2 - Leo Awards 2011-2012

A.100% Club Administrative Awards

1. Year Planner and an Annual Budget for 2011-2012

-Club must submit a Year Planner and an Annual Budget for 2011-2012 to DC for Leo Clubs with copies to the Regional Committee Chairperson (RCC) for Leo Clubs, Leo/ Faculty Advisors NOT later than 15th Aug 2011.

2. Installation / Election

-Installation of Board of Directors must be held before 30th September 2011.

Election of the next BOD should take place NOT later than 31st March 2012.

3. Leo MMR

- Club must submit to Lions Club International with copies to DC for Leo Clubs and Regional Committee Chairperson (RCC) for Leo Clubs before 5th of the following month respectively.

4. MAAR1 (eReport in MS Word, PDF format is encouraged)

-Submission of all completed MAAR1 (July 2011 – June 2012) with Minutes of club’s meeting before 5th of the following month respectively. (The reporting cut-off date is 25th of the preceding month)

5. . Leo Club Officers and Membership Report (Leo-72)

-The Leo Club Officers and Membership Report (Leo-72) must reach LCI and the DC for Leo Clubs, NOT later than 15th May 2012

6. Meeting and Activities

a. BOD & Business/Club Meeting

- Board of Directors Meeting must be held at least once a month

- Business/Club Meeting must be held at least once a month

-Attendance of Club / BOD Meetings at least 80% average and submitted together with MAAR1.

- Minutes of the meeting should be properly recorded and filed

b. Orientations/Seminars/Workshops/Leo Camp

- Club Key Officer (President, Secretary, Treasurer and or 1st Vice President) must attend the Key Officer’s School before installing.

- At least 3 members attend either any 2 of the Orientations, Seminars, Workshops / Leo Camp/ Youth Camp organized at Region / District level

c. Leo Region Meeting

- President, Secretary, Treasurer and or 1st Vice President must attend at least 3 Meetings.

d. Protocol & Decorum

- Proper and collect conduct of Lions Protocol & Decorum at all times.

7. Membership

- At least 10% net increase of membership from 1st July 2011 to 31st March 2012

All reports ,letters and documents must send to the respective Regional Committee Chairperson (RCC) for Leo Clubs, Leo/Faculty Advisor and copy to District Chairperson (DC) for Leo Clubs.

B. Outstanding Leo Club Award

MUST fulfill 100% Club Administrative requirements to qualify and achieve the following :-

A- Organize

- At least ONE project with Sponsoring Lions Club (Submit all Completed project to LCI in the “Serving Together” Banner Patch Application form LEO-ST within 30 days after completion of each project with a copy to DC & RCC.)

- At least ONE orientation/leadership seminar for club Level.

- At least THREE designated District Project (can be jointly organize with other Leo clubs)

(Environmental Project, Leo Day, Leadership Development, Community Service, etc)

- Organize at least TWO designated International Project

(Leo Spotlight on Children, Sight First, Health Services, Peace Poster, etc.)

- Organized least TWO school services projects (for alpha only)

B. CLD Program Participation
Each club should produce at least

- 1 Leo pass Leo Proficiency test

- 3 Leos pass respective L / E / O test

- 20% of membership passes the Orientation test

C. At least Two join projects/activities organized at Region/District Level.

i Publicize at least 3 club’s projects/activities in local press

ii Publish at least 2 issues of Club Newsletter / eNewsletter.

iii Have at least 10% of membership attend 2012 39th MD 308 Leo Forum.

C. TOP Leo Club Award

a. The Leo Club MUST fulfill the Outstanding Leo Club requirements in order to qualify.

b. CLD qualification is optional. Should there be a tie, CLD results will be referred to as the tiebreaker.

The higher anyone of your club’s BOD or members have achieved, the better a

chance you stand for the Top Club Award.

D. Outstanding Leo President Award

Club must fulfill 100% Club Administrative requirements in order to qualify.

The President must

1. Chair all the BOD and Club Meetings

2. Attend - At least three (3) Region Leo Meetings (certified by RCC for Leo Clubs).

3. Attend 2012 39th MD 308 Leo Forum as registered delegate.

4. Sponsor at least 1 new member

5. Produce at least 1 member with L/E/O badges in the CLD

6. Qualify for Proficiency badge in the CLD Program

7. Organize or attend at least one Orientation, Seminar, Workshop or Leo Camp.

8. Organize at least one major service / fund-raising project as organizing chairperson

9. Organize at least one joint project with sponsoring Lions Club.

10. Must be in good standing.

v Show a genuine commitment to the ideals of community service.

v Be actively involved in the activities of his/her Leo Club, Region and District.

v Demonstrate a high level of leadership skills within Leos and the community.

v Have a knowledge and appreciation of the Leo program and Lions International.

v Comply with the duties of Leo President

v Have good communication skills.

E. TOP Leo President Award

The Leo President must fulfill the Outstanding Leo President requirements in order to qualify.

Selection base on leadership skills, knowledge, responsibility , enthusiasm , commitment and superior achievement in activities.

F. Outstanding Leo Secretary Award

Club must fulfill 100% Club Administrative requirements in order to qualify.

Submit Leo MMR to Lions Club International with copies to DC for Leo Clubs and Regional Committee Chairperson (RCC) for Leo Clubs before 5th of the following month respectively.

Submit MAAR1 (eReport in MS Word, PDF format is encouraged) to DC for Leo Clubs before 5th of each month with copies to the RCC for Leo Clubs, Leo / Faculty Advisors.

9. Recording Officer for election meeting to elect club officers for 2012-2013

before 31st March 2012.

10. Must be in good standing.

v Show a genuine commitment to the ideals of community service.

v Be actively involved in the activities of his/her Leo Club, Region and District.

v Demonstrate a high level of leadership skills within Leos and the community.

v Have a knowledge and appreciation of the Leo program and Lions International.

v Comply with the duties of Leo Secretary.

v Have good communication skills.

G. TOP Leo Secretary Award

The Leo Secretary must fulfill the Outstanding Leo Secretary requirements in order to qualify.

Selection base on leadership skills , knowledge, responsibility, enthusiasm and commitment.

H. Outstanding Leo Treasurer Award

Club must fulfill 100% Club Administrative requirements in order to qualify.

The treasurer must

1. Submit monthly Financial Statement (eReport in MS Word, PDF format is encouraged) to DC for Leo Clubs before 5th of each month with copies to the RCC for Leo Clubs, Leo / Faculty Advisors.

2. Attend all BOD and Club Meetings.

3. Attend at least three (3) Region Leo Meetings (certified by RCC for Leo Club).

4. Attend at least one Orientation, Seminar, Workshop or Leo Camp

5. Attend at least one joint project with sponsoring Lions Club.

6. Attend 2012 39th MD 308 Leo Forum as registered delegate.

7. Qualify for L / E / O badges in the CLD Program

8. Organize at least one major service / fund-raising project as organizing chairperson

9. Sponsor at least 1 new member

10. Must be in good standing.

I. TOP Leo Treasurer Award

The Leo Treasurer must fulfill the Outstanding Leo Treasurer requirements in order to qualify.

Selection base on leadership skills, knowledge, responsibility , enthusiasm and commitment.

J. Outstanding Vice President / Assistant Secretary / Assistant Treasurer / Tamer /Twister / Directors Award

Club must fulfill 100% Club Administrative requirements in order to qualify and achieve the followings:-

1. Attend at least 80% attendance at BOD and Club Meeting.

2. Attend at least two (2) Region Leo Meetings (certified by RCC for Leo Clubs).

3. Attend at least one Orientation, Seminar, Workshop or Leo Camp

4. Organize at least one project as Organizing Chairperson.

5. Qualify for L / E / O test in the CLD Program

6. Sponsor at least one new member from 1st July 2011 to 30th April 2012.

7. Encourage to attend the 2012 39th MD 308 Leo Forum.

8. Must be in good standing

K. Outstanding Leo Award

1. At least 80% attendance at meeting and projects.

2. Organize at least one project as Organizing Chairperson.

3. Obtain all L / E / O badges in the CLD Program

4. Sponsor at least one new member from 1st July 2011 to 30th April 2012.

5. Attend the 2012 39th MD 308 Leo Forum.

6. Active participation in Region Projects and Activities (certified by DC or RCC for Leo Clubs.)

7. Must be in good standing.

v Show a genuine commitment to the ideals of community service.

v Be actively involved in the activities of his/her Leo Club, Region and District.

v Demonstrate a high level of leadership skills within Leos and the community.

v Have a knowledge and appreciation of the Leo program and Lions International.

L. TOP Leo Award

The Leo member must fulfill the Outstanding Leo requirements in order to qualify.

Selection base on leadership skills, knowledge, responsibility , enthusiasm ,commitment and superior achievement in activities.

M. Club Special Achievement Award

a. Outstanding Publicity (original paper cutting must be attach)

Club must fulfill 100% Club Administrative requirements in order to qualify and achieve the followings:-

1.Club project / activities highlighting Leo afford with most appearance in public media supported by documents.

b. Outstanding Club Newsletter or eNewsletter

Club must fulfill 100% Club Administrative requirements in order to qualify .

Selection base on effectiveness, content, presentation and regularity of publication.

A copy of the Newsletter or eNewsletter (eNewsletter in MS Word, PDF format is encouraged) must send to DC for Leo Clubs with copies to the RCC, Leo / Faculty Advisors.

c. Outstanding Membership Growth

Club must fulfill 100% Club Administrative requirements to qualify and achieve

10% (Omega Club), 20% (Alpha Club) net membership growth or more from 1st July 2011 to 30th April 2012

All new members must be officially orientated and inducted and pass the CLD Orientation.

N. District Special Appreciation Award

1. Faculty Advisor

For the dedicated service of the faculty advisor. Recommended by Sponsoring Lions Club President, DC , RCC for Leo Clubs.

2. Lion Leo Advisor

For the dedicated service of the Lion Leo advisor . Recommended by Sponsoring Lions Club President, .DC , RCC for Leo Clubs .

3. TOP Leo School Academy

a. This is specially placed for BOD 2010-2011 who is sitting for 2011SPM.

b. A copy of the SPM Result slip must be attached for the recommendation.

c. Applicant must be an active member during his / her term (2010-2011)

d. Minimum requirement will be, 80% of the subjects must be grade A (regardless A1 or A2).When comes to the same result, A1 will be the first consideration. Example :-

Those who are taking 12 subjects – At least 10A in SPM

Those who are taking 11 subjects - At least 9A in SPM

e. Must join Omega Leo Club (from fiscal year 2011-2012)

4. Special Appreciation Award

For the dedicated service of the active leos. Selection base on leadership skills, knowledge, dedication, enthusiasm and commitment

O. District Service Achievement Award

Club must fulfill 100% Club Administrative requirements in order to qualify.

A Report (eReport in MS Word, PDF format by email or CD is encouraged) of the specific project(s) that the club wishes to highlight, must be sent to the DC for Leo Clubs together with summary of number of manpower used, man-hour spent, number of people benefited from the project, photographs (in JPEG format) and original newspaper report cuttings.

The Project must involve more than 50% of the members and significant participation of the community.

A Statement of Account of the project and name of beneficiary.

1. Environmental Services

Club must fulfill 100% Club Administrative requirements in order to qualify.

Caring for the air, water, and land on Earth is a serious responsibility. As the most intelligent species on the planet, mankinds are obligated to protect the Earth’s flora and fauna. In 1972, The International Association of Lions Clubs has adopted The Policy Statement on the Human Environment, signifying the Lions’ commitment to preserve and improve the environment. In 1999, the board of directors of Lions Clubs International approved The Environment Program as the official International service project of the Leo Club Program. For More Examples of successful Environmental Project please refer to Leo 302 – “Our Environment Our Future “handbook.

Recommended activities:

2. Leo Spotlight on Children Service Project

Club must fulfill 100% Club Administrative requirements in order to qualify.

Leo Spotlight on Children projects aid children in adverse circumstance. Leo Clubs that plan and implement service projects for children in adverse circumstances are eligible to receive district award as well as the Leo Spotlight on Children Banner Patch by Lions Clubs International

3. Leo Day Program

Club must fulfill 100% Club Administrative requirements in order to qualify.

Organize activity to promote Leo Program to the public or school students, to encourage more youth people to enroll as Leo.

Must have an exhibition corner to promote Leo Project / Activity to general public.

Submit your report with project photo, the photo should show how the exhibition takes place and how many public involve etc.

4. Leadership Development

Club must fulfill 100% Club Administrative requirements in order to qualify.

Recommended activities:

- Training Camp

- Seminar

- Workshop

5. Hunger Relief Program

Club must fulfill 100% Club Administrative requirements in order to qualify.

Recommended activities:

-Charity Food Fair

- Charity Concert

- Food Distribution

-Cleaning of school compound /Canteen / Toilets, Gardens etc.

Or Sight First / Community Service / Inter District & International Twinning / Fund Raising /

Health Services & Diabetes Awareness / Information Technology / Innovative or Creative Project

*** All Project Specially Fund Raising Project STRICTLY MUST BE OBTAIN the permission and approval of School Principal and Sponsoring Lions Club President, regardless Alpha or Omega Leo Club.

Above quote by Waldo Emerson is the overall summary I can give for my dearest friend LEO Ch'ng Kok Sheng who has serve the Leos in District 308 B2 for more than 13 years.

Dear fellow Leos, Lions and friends,

As the Leo President of Leo Club of Penang (City), I am honoured to introduce you our Past President, Leo Ch'ng Kok Sheng who will be standing for the election in the coming MD 308 Leo Forum to be your District 308 B2 Leo President in the coming fiscal year.

Allow me to use my personal story to introduce my friend:

I first knew him when i was a Leo in Chung Ling High School. I am just a like plain paper and know nothing about Leos and basically Chung Ling Leo Club is only a club which is not significant and weak in the school. The first project he had guided me into the world of Leo Clubs was a Team Building Camp, and subsequently he was my Omega Mentor while I served as the President in Chung Ling Leo Club on 2004-2005. He never says never or never says no when I asked for help and opinions. He is always there to support me even until today. Without him, I think I will not be able to bring up Chung Ling Leos to the district level and without him, I will not be achieving the Top Alpha Leo President in that fiscal year.

I have know him for more about 8 years and he has grown up a lot, not in term of physical looking, but in terms of characteristics and leadership skills. He is a honest and frank buddy, who treat his followers as his good friends. A leader gives you hope and inspire you to be greater than him. He inspires me and that is the main reason why I have been active in Leos for so many years. He guides me, helps me and teach me patiently.

He is competent and very much experienced in the Leo Organization. Following are the summaries of his service in the Leo organization in the past 13 years:

The members of the Penang (City) Leo Club strongly support his candidature as the incoming District Leo President and I would sincerely like to call upon all my fellow friends - YOU to give your support by voting him as the District President in the coming fiscal year.

Once again, this fiscal year is going to end soon, and yes, we as Leos in District 308 B2, will have to elect the new officers for the District 308 B2 Leo Cabinet.

Kindly read through the Rules of Procedure for Election on District President, 1st District Vice President and 2nd District Vice President.

Nomination Form attached is for Omega Leo Club to nominate a Leo to be the candidate for District President, 1st District Vice President and 2nd District Vice President. Please go through with the rules and regulations before submit the nomination form.

As for Voting Delegate Submission, for Leo Club that will be attending the 38th Multiple District 308 Leo Forum is required to send a representative as a voting delegate and alternate voting delegate to the District 308 B2 Leo Cabinet Election, which will be held during the 38th Multiple District 308 Leo Forum at Johor Bharu. This form is to be submitted by 18th May 2011, 5.00pm to District 308 B2 Leo Cabinet Election Committee Chairperson, Leo Eliza Chia at midoriyen@gmail.com.

Registration fee for Leo is RM 40.00 per person register before 1st April 2011, including breakfasts, 2(two) lunches, 2(two) tea break during the camp. The registration will be limited for 70 pax and based on first come first serve basis.

The objectives of this camp are:
-To Identify and develop new young leaders.
-To further enhance our knowledge and practical leadership skills e.g. membership team building, chairing a meeting, fund raising, financial management etc. through seminars and workshops during the program.
-To act as a platform for all Leo leaders to exchange opinions on club management, project planning and with the hope of sparking new and creative ideas.

Basically, the programs will be run with the following methods:
Seminars by invited speakers , Problem Based Learning ,Workshops ,Team Building Activities ,Interactive / Public Speaking Activities & Continuous Group Assessment .

• Encourage individuals to take preventive measures to avert the onset or worsening of an illness or disease and to adopt healthier lifestyles

DISTRICT 308 B2 LEO CAMP 2010

LEO M.A.D CAMP 2010 (Making a Differene), to be held at Barre I.J Centre, Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands ,from 26th to 28th November 2010.

Registration fee for Leo members, not limited to District 308B2 only, is RM120 per person. The fees include a 2 night accommodation based on shared dormitory, 2 breakfasts , 3 lunches , 1 dinner , 2 suppers, T-Shirt and insurance coverage during the camp . The registration will be limited for 200 pax and based on a firstcome-first-serve basis.

The objective of this camp are
• To create and foster the spirit of understanding among Leos in District 308 B2
• To instill in Leo members the safety and appreciation of the environment
• To provide activities promoting teamwork , discipline , tolerance , independence and
self-endurance
• To encourage sharing of ideas throughout District 308 B2
• To develop leadership potential among Leos

Activities such as Cooking Competition, Jungle Tracking, Team Building, Treasure Hunt and Fellowship sessions are incorporated within the camp to instill the M.A.D experience of a Leo member.

To ensure that your place in the camp is reserved, kindly return the registration form, duly signed, no later than 30th October 2010. The following are required:

Objectives:
The main objective of this charity night is to raise a medical fund and the fund will be donated to those who
needed money to cover their medical expenses. From our knowledge, we know that there are many people who
needed money for medical treatment. However, their family is facing a huge difficulty in getting such amount to
cover their medical expenses. So, Leo Club of Georgetown Central decided to organize this charity night to raise
a medical fund in order to help these families to cover part of their medical fees.

Aim:
Our aim for this charity night is to raise as much money as we can to form a medical fund to help those patients
and their family to cover their medical expenses. Therefore, we hope that you will be able to support this charity
night by providing us your services with the minimum charge or if possible, without any charges to help us to
raise a larger amount of fund in order to help more people who are in need.

Multiple District 308's "WALK FOR SIGHT" project is set to be carried out concurrently throughout the District on 10 October 2010. This project is held in conjunction with Lions Clubs International's World Sight Day.

Regions 1, 2 & 3 Lions, Lionesses and Leos will be organising this event at the Penang Polo Ground, Jalan Sepoy Lines, Penang at 7.00 a.m. The Rt. Hon'ble Chief Minister of Penang, Lion Lim Guan Eng will be invited to flag off the participants to be witnessed by State Government dignitaries and Lions dignitaries. To date, the Organising Committee helmed by President Oh Aik Kim of the Lions Club of George Town have secured the support of the Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) and St. Nicholas Home for the Visually Impaired as co-organisers with others to be confirmed shortly.

Participation fee for this 3Km walk is RM10.00 whereby all participants will receive a goody bag (worth more than RM10) and a lucky draw opportunity.

A special recognition will be given to donors who contribute RM500.00 towards this meaningful project - they will be conferred the "KNIGHT OF THE SIGHT" status by District Governor Hudson Hah and will receive a framed certificate to attest to this conferment.

All proceeds will be channelled to the St. Nicholas Home for the Visually impaired and Lions Sight First project Funds.

The organisers appeal to all Lions, Lionesses, Leos, friends and supporters of Lions to come forward and join us in this meaningful project. Tickets will be available through Lions Clubs and St. Nicholas.
