Resco Contact Manager Updated to Version 2.05

Resco Contact Manager 2.05

Resco, the Windows Mobile developers behind the classic Resco Explorer and Resco Photo Manager, have released an update to another of their applications: Resco Contact Manager. The update, now at version 2.05, brings several fixes that users should find worth the free update. Check out the details below:

The Improvements in version 2.05 deal with the Facebook integration, especially the Log in procedure. According to problems occurring with the log in Resco decided to completely change the whole process. The new one will be more flexible and any other changes will be promptly solved using an online update, without the need to reinstall the application again.

Improved Log in Process to Facebook

The new process will be more effective and flexible to changes made by the Facebook developers.

Online Facebook Service Update

The program checks the available updates each time you log in to Facebook. Any changes regarding the Facebook features (Facebook contacts, messaging, etc…) will be automatically integrated without the need to reinstall the program again.

Korean SMS Support

The application can now display the Korean SMS.

YouTube Updated To 2.4 For Windows Mobile And S60 Devices

Google finally came through, knocking out the competitor to its YouTube player. The Windows Mobile YouTube application that could be found on xda-developers for was by far superior to what Google was offering.

The look and feel of the un-official app was much more pleasing to the eye and sported better features. However it was still lacking the ability to interact with your own personal YouTube.

New with Google’s version, 2.4, you are able to view your videos and subscriptions. You can also view and add favorites with just one button all the while still being able to go quickly to the top rated, most viewed, and most recent videos on the site.

Maybe we can safely assume that Microsoft isn’t going to abandon Windows Mobile in favor of Windows Phone after all. Or maybe could it be that all these developers are just pushing out what they have left to work on to get them off their desks. What’s your take? Only time will tell for sure.

Either way, ” thank you Google” for making a big improvement to our Windows Mobile and S60 devices.

SPB Software Ports SPB Quads to Symbian Touchscreen Phones

SPB Software has just released another of it’s Windows Mobile games as a port to run on Symbian phones equipped with a touch screen. SPB Quads is an interesting game, asking users to find enclosing corners to clear a section of the playing board. You can check out our review for the Windows Mobile version here.

Office 2010 Launches May 12, 2010

If you’re interested in the latest version of Microsoft’s flagship product, Office 2010, then you’re only going to have to wait about 60 more days to get your hands on a copy. Microsoft announced this week that the office suite will be available to volume license holders on 12-May-10, with general availability slated for sometime in June of 2010.

Buy Office 2007, get 2010 for free!

Customers who purchase Office 2007 between 05-Mar-10 through 30-Sep-10 will be able to upgrade to a corresponding version of Office 2010 for free. Buyers of Office Home and Student 2007 will receive a free copy of Office Home and Student 2010, while buyers of Office Standard 2007 and Office Basic 2007 will be eligible for a free copy of Office Home and Business 2010, a new addition to the Office lineup. Purchases of Office Small Business 2007, Office Professional 2007 or Office Ultimate 2007 will be eligible for a free copy of Office Professional 2010.

There is a limit of 25 free upgrades per person, a standard Microsoft practice meant to push businesses with multiple copies to its volume licensing deals.

Gtdagenda Announces Android App

I am always looking for the next big thing for managing my tasks. So, I was pretty intrigued a while back when I received an email from the folks at gtdagenda a while back announcing the release of their online task manager. I gave it a spin and it worked pretty well. Plus, from time to time, they send me emails with time management tips, which is a nice bonus.

Gtdagenda has been available for the iPhone for a while now, but they certainly took their time branching out to other platforms. Today, at long last, they released a free app to the Android Market, allowing you to manage your day from your home, work, the bathroom, and pretty much anywhere in between.

Tether Turns One…Announces Android Beta Program

Blackberry owners are all probably more than familiar with Tether, which is turning one year old this week (check out their one year contest, in which they are giving away six brand new phones). In addition to that giveaway, though, they also announced they are branching out and offering their service to Android users. For those of you who are not familiar with it,Tether is an application that allows your PC to take advantage of your smartphone’s data plan, allowing you to access the Internet on your laptop anywhere there is cellular coverage. Until now, this service had only been available for Blackberry…until now. Last night,I received an email from the folks at Tether announcing that their new Android app is now available to Beta testers. According to them, the Android tether app is already marking speeds up to 6.8 Mbps. head over to Tether to sign up for the Android Beta.

Clinton Fitch Reviews Lose It! For iPhone

One of my New Year’s resolutions for 2010 was to lose some of the weight I had been steadily gaining over the course of the last ten years or so. This was no small task as my lifestyle consists almost exclusively of sitting. Oh and eating junk food. So, I knew I was going to have to make some changes. One of those changes involved paying better attention to the foods I eat. I found that if you record everything you eat, then you think twice before eating all of that junk food (also, reading labels is a great way to stop eating).

I scoured the iTunes App store and came up with about half a dozen apps which promised to help me lose weight by tracking everything I eat. After thoroughly evaluating each of these, I finally settled on Lose It!, which offered the most intuitive interface and a pretty nice library of foods and restaurants.

Apparently, I am not the only one who thinks Lose It! offers a fantastic solution for those of you looking to improve your health a little (or a lot). My good friend Clinton Fitch, whose public weight loss of over 60 pounds should serve as an inspiration to us all, has also been using Lose It!. Clinton posted a review of the free app over on his website. Like most people who have tried to lose weight, Clinton found that knowledge of what you are eating is one of the most important tools available to you, and Lose It! is a fantastic knowledge database. Though as Clinton notes in his comprehensive review, this is just one of the myriad of tools in the Lose It! toolbox.
