Collaborations and more will be prevalent at this year’s festival with Dave Alvin, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott and Chris Smither joining forces on one of the more intimate stages on Saturday. Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin and Buddy Miller helping each other out on their various individual main stage sets, and Rosalie Sorrels and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott sharing the main stage together Friday evening. All moments not to be missed at this rare intimate Northern California festival.

Other performers recently added to this year’s line –up are: Joe Craven, Work o’ The Weavers (recreating the magic of The Weavers shows, and joined on Sunday by original Weaver, Ronnie Gilbert), Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald.

Named for the famed late folksinger Kate Wolf, who died of leukemia in 1986, the festival began in 1996 as a one day retrospective on her life and music and has since evolved into an annual camping and music festival with an impressive lineup of performers and events for all ages that cover three full days.

New this year to the festival is an area named for the late Utah Phillips, dear friend to both Kate Wolf and the festival itself. This area, named Utahpia, will include a stage, general store, artisan vendors, and an area to play board games in a relaxed setting. With two other intimate stage areas, workshops, kids’ area, camping, food court, music jamming area, and flowing creek, the annual Kate Wolf Memorial Music Festival is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a weekend with friends, family, and lovers of great music.

San Francisco - Blind Pig Records has announced the signing of virtuoso guitar player and Grammy-winning producer Roy Rogers. Under the agreement, the label will release Split Decision, Rogers' first studio recording with his band, The Delta Rhythm Kings, plus special guests, in seven years. The new album, released on April 21st, was recorded at Studio D in Sausalito, California in December of 2008.

"Split Decision was really about the songwriting and I aimed to create a much more edgy cross-genre style," says Rogers. "I really wanted to craft strong stories, mix it up a bit with a lot of different guitar tones - and still have some solid roots oriented grooves...it's a very eclectic record." Special guests on the record include Phil Aaberg on keyboards (Elvin Bishop, Peter Gabriel), George Brooks on saxophone (Etta James, Zakir Hussain), and World music Gold and Multi-platinum recording artist, guitarist Ottmar Liebert. The Delta Rhythm Kings are Steve Ehrmann on bass and Billy Lee Lewis on drums, long standing members of the band.

The deal marks a reunion of sorts between Rogers and Blind Pig, as the label released some of Rogers' first recordings in the late 1980's. Since then he's gone on to worldwide acclaim as one of the best slide guitar players performing today. He has garnered multiple Grammy (8) nominations for his work as a songwriter and producer for his one-time boss John Lee Hooker and for Ramblin' Jack Elliott, and received numerous accolades for songwriting (with Bonnie Raitt and others) and his work on movie soundtracks and television.
