Taking another page from the His & Her Online Card Classes to create today’s card, I used the beautiful iridescent White Diamond cardstock from the PaperTemptress, black ink and markers then mounted on Basic 80# Dark Orange cardstock. The beauty of White Diamond says it all!

Second Heartfelt Creation Project

Last week Paper Temptress and Heartfelt Creations did a joint blog hop. We were each given a HC die and stamp set. Mine was Posy Patch. The card I am posting here today is actually the first card I made for the swap. The base for this card is Gold Sparkle. The next layer is Brown on Edge and is a Hambly Overlay. The flowers are stamped with Saddle Brown StazOn and die cute. The paper used for the flowers is Gold Metallic Vellum. I added stickles to the middles of the flowers. The middle circle is cut with a new Spellbinders die called Majestic Elements. This was cute from Vintage Silver Lustre. I have said it before and will say it again. Distress Ink loves this paper. I used Victorian Velvet and Walnut. To end this card I again added a piece of my favorite ribbon which is 5/8″ Elegant Cappuccino Satin with Gold

Good morning, Steph here today with a card using some wonderful papers from the Papertemptress.

Did you know that Patricia has the full line of Hambly Studios? She has some amazing papers and I’ve used several of them on this card.

I created a 5 1/2″ square card from Kraft Treasures, then aded a piece of this lovely Vintage patchwork paper on top. The scalloped circle mat was cut from Mod Circles and the smaller circle from Kraft Treasures. Each piece was inked with gold for a little touch of shimmer.

I stamped my image on Cryogen White Cardstock then colored with Copic Markers before cutting it out and adding to the card. The sentiment is a rub-on from Karen Foster.

This card was so much fun. I had never made these flowers before and I think they turned out pretty good. I enjoy making my own flowers. Before when I was buying flowers it seemed like I never had the right colors, now it’s endless.

You may not be able to see it in the picture, the Pink Mica/Metallic cardstock has a wonderful sheen and softness. This cardstock is one of my new best favorites.

So here is my design….I have decided that after seeing so many GREAT designs it was time to give your eyes a rest so I designed a very clean and simple design but still very pretty (at least I think so). I have finally accepted that my style is Clean and Simple….I state accepted because I drool over all the amazing cards I see online with tons of designer papers and flourishes that are just gorgeous….but…..I just plain can’t design them. Well I can but they don’t look anything like the works of art that I see so after spending hours trying to put together a work of art I ALWAYS end up with clean and simple so I have finally just decided to design clean and simple LOL!

I used the Butterfly Medley stamp set (love love love this set) and stamped once on Cryogen White. Then I stamped again on another sheet of Cryogen White and just cut out the butterfly. I then colored both butterflies with Distress inks so they matched. I glued the cut out butterfly on top of the stamped butterfly to add dimension to my design. Easy Peasy! Seriously! I then took copics and colored the flowers and added a little copper stickles on the flourishes (not very neatly either LOL)! Added some pearls and a couple of gems and called it done…it took me about 15 minutes to design this card and I personally really like it. I hope you do too.

It’s a Monotone kind of day

So one of my favorite techniques is Monotone theme cards…..Monotone means that you are creating a card based on a single color using all your embellishments, papers and other goodies with the same color. In my card here of course, it’s Brown, which is, one of my favorite colors. Often in monotone theme cards, you can color your image, which I did, but I used all browns! That’s kind of an extra layer of fun in a challenge. Of course for this image, it’s a bit easier to do, but imagine the fun of taking on monotone theme coloring when it’s not a teddy bear and you just want to use browns….This cute image is artist Diane Carubia from Squigglefly.

All the gorgeous papers I am using today are from Paper Temptress, the image is printed on Neenah Solar white. This cardstock is perfect for printing out digital images, runs through my printer easily and I let it dry many extra hours (even though ink seems dry as soon as you print, when coloring with Copic markers, it’s really good to give it more time). The textured background paper is Canyon Brown Skinny Columns. It has the best lined texture. I added just a hint of ink on the edges to highlight that fact. The great die cuts (from Marianne Crafts) are done out of Kraft paper, also called brown bag cardstock. Don’t they go perfect here? They really just pop right off the card and I think they look amazing against a very dark background card and the bright image coloring.
