I do love long weekends and I do love getting away but there is something about a staycation that’s more relaxing as you don’t have to deal with the overpriced gas prices, the long traffic jams on the hwy and making sure you packed everything you need for your trip aka the bug spray.

This would have been a great get a away weekend for me if my plans did fall though, I was asked if I could spare for a friend’s team and also was invited to my best friends mom’s wedding. I’m sad that I turn down the wedding invite (but I’m seeing them for 9 days in November), this was all before I found out that I wasn’t need after all. Though this made my wallet really happy that I wasn’t going anywhere.

What did I do with my Staycation?

- Relaxed at home,
- Tackled a few chores I haven’t been able to do since I haven’t been home
- Went out on a date,
- Missed practice due to sleeping in / and idiots on the roads (couldn’t get anywhere)
- Worked on PGN (this site) and on two other sites I run.

What do you do on long weekends? Get out of town or stay home?

It just seems like since Fathers Day weekend all I’ve been doing is heading to work, dragon boat practice, pilates (if I can make it) and spending my weekends at regattas after regattas. In a 7 weekend span I would have done 6 regattas but thankfully I was only sparing for 2 other teams and they didn’t need me so I get those weekends to just attend practice and sleep in my own bed (something I do miss when traveling). So by the time I get home I’m just wiped and I barely have the energy to check my email let along blog.

Don’t get me wrong but I love racing and mini paddling vacations but when it’s back to back like this it wipes you out and the additional heat stroke over the weekend didn’t help (I was doing everything correctly to avoid it and still got it ).

In none paddling news: I got promoted at work …. er ….. well just for this week as my supervisor is on holidays, which is alright until you look at how much work I’m covering (my job and all her job/responsibility).

So that’s what happening in my world as of lately, hows it going with you?

The money is going to a great cause and that’s what should matter.

I do have to say that the mini break was good. What have I’ve been doing for the last 26 days? Well I’ve been dealing with dragonboat related stuff off and on the water, since our racing season has began, we are on the water more. I’m also working on my clubs website and working on H2oGeeks behind the scenes stuff (finding a sponsor or two, team uniforms, paying for boat rental and the two regattas out of my own pocket) which I want to have all set in place before the 1st practice which is in a few weeks. So by the time I started thinking that I need to write a post on PGN (this site) I just was to tired to type something out. Though I did have a few things to write about but to late now.

How was everyone’s long weekend? I personally didn’t do much this year but relaxed and went to my two practices though I didn’t have to work yesterday so I got an extra day off. YAY!!! Though I did call in to check my voicemail at work so I wouldn’t have a huge number today.. Speaking of work, I should head into the office for a bit. I’d personally would love to work from home more (and work in my pj’s) but we aren’t allowed.

Have a great Wednesday!

Never thought today would come, one of my cats Scott who just turned 16 in February was put down this morning. We believed he had a mini stroke yesterday because all night last night he wasn’t himself no balance (when he was sitting or walking), crying like there was no tomorrow and decided to sleep in front of his bed instead of in it.. I barely was able to sleep last night and 1st thing this morning we took him to the vets.

He is a little bugger he didn’t want to go to sleep he was fighting it tooth and nail. Though I do have to say he is a little grumpy trooper.
- He was in a cat fight years ago (when he was still able to get outside) where he jumped funny and ripped the tendon in the knee, cause of that and old age he got bad hips
- He also swallowed a thread and a needle (sharp end 1st)
- He got out for 3 days months after we moved.
- He is also got cat asthma, gone blind and now deaf
- He climbs 13 steps a few times a day to check out the 2nd floors food dish to see if its any different then the one on his floor

Thought we were gonna put him down 3 years ago but the vet say that if he can still can walk and jump. It’s those 3 extra years I’m glad I got a chance to have extra time with him.
