The student teams were in action this week with their first BUCS games. Both NVL teams have played since the last update too. Check out the website for details of the results.

Following the men's lead, the women won their first two games of the season today, in emphatic fashion. They travelled to Southampton to play New Forest and SGTV Solent, and came back with 6 sets won and none conceded! Their victories mean that OUVC is so far undefeated in the 2009/10 season, with the NVL Men's team having won their first round Cup match against Knutsford Power yesterday, also in 3 sets.

NVL Season Starts With A Bang!

OUVC had their first official games of the season, with the Men's NVL team taking on UEA Norwich and RAF Harriers in Div 3E. After a rocky start, the team gelled and were worthy winners, beating both teams 3-1 and 3-2 respectively. Slightly more info on the site, reports should be up in a day or two.

Summer updates

Apologies for the lack of RSS updates recently. If you go to the website today, you'll find it's been updated with news from recent months - May was a very busy month for the Club, and July saw 18 old and new Club members take a break in Portugal. If you haven't visited since the last RSS update, then you might want to start by catching up with the news from back in April when the NVL women had their playoff game, and there have probably been quite a few photos added to the gallery since then too!

And look out for more updates in the near future, when the new committee should be listed, among other things...

NVL Women finsh 2nd - going to the playoffs!

The final day of WNVL saw Reading Aces lose 3-2 to Cardiff Tigers, which means our women finish above them by conceding one less set in the season (or beating them head-to-head).

Updated pages

Just a few updates to some pages. We now have a Cuppers/4Max page to outline the plan for this year's Cuppers/4Max Competitions. The OUVC Students League page has been updated to include the end of season League Table. The Final will take place between Thundercats and St. John's on Tues 28th April. A couple of changes were made to the Ladder page to reflect the fact that there's just one ladder now for both genders (& mixed teams).

Easter training times for weeks 9 and 10 are now up. There is a page describing the twos ladder that has been set up by Paul. Photos from Sheffield, where W1 came 7th at BUCS, will be up soon (tonight or tomorrow).

Varsity 2009

The annual Varsity Match took place yesterday in Cambridge, with all 4 student teams from OUVC taking part in competitive games against their Cambridge counterparts. The day finished 3-1 in favour of the Tabs, and you can read more about it in more detail here. Many thanks to CUVC for organising a great day, and to everyone that took part.
