Saying goodbye is never easy. I remember many childhood summers driving off in our sky-blue Ford, waving through the glass at my grandmother, who would stand on the front lawn in her robe until our car rounded the bend, and we were gone. All four children would be in tears, knowing it would be another year until we saw our grandmother again.

Although I’m not going anywhere, I will be saying goodbye to my work with ouroboros. I’ve been given a funded position in the MFA program in creative writing at Georgia State, which will require long hours on campus, and many more hours spent reading and writing. It’s a huge undertaking at my age and at my stage in life, but it’s a challenge I need to accept.

Many thanks to Jo Hemmant, my co-editor and friend, who inspired me to take up the work of editing a poetry and art journal. Under her guidance I’ve learned a lot. And thanks to all of the talented poets and artists, who allowed me to consider so many exquisite poems, photographs, and paintings.
