By challenging each other’s thoughts and opinions, we hope to better understand the origin of beliefs. Many people often take the opinion of someone else as their own in order to save time and energy. Even though many of us are no longer in school, that is no reason we cannot continue our education.

The concept is progress, not perfection. Conversation is not a born ability, but a skill developed over time. It used to be the only way people learned and there is no reason why we cannot maximize the benefits of shared conversation today.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Jim sits down with Jerry Gaff and Tom Hitt at the Presque Isle Gallery Coffeehouse for some conversation on music, documentaries, social media, and play some songs against the sounds of cappuccino and espresso makers. Gaff leads at the beginning, followed by Hitt about midway into the recording after discussing live performances and "off the grid" lifestyles. The second half of the podcast includes more recordings (a child is causing a ruckus on the background) and the process for writing songs. At one minute and four or so seconds, the two jam together. A bonus Frank Marzano interview discussing Team of Rivals, Lincoln, and provisional ballots in the 2012 election near the end.

Jim and Tom sit down with Terry Bisson and Peter Coyote for a long conversation. After briefly explaining the goal of the podcast, Peter discusses his trip to Syria, Lebanon and Cuba. The talk goes in many directions. Terry and Peter discuss the progression of political change in the twentieth century as well as authenticity in a world gone corporate. Along with talk of folk music, radical optimism, the freedom you get by not being a professional, not being afraid of low status, behind the scenes of Spielberg's E.T., the willingness to look ridiculous, and the internal voice which keeps people from trying, Terry and Peter bring their experiences to "That's what I believe" on a sunny morning in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Check out Peter Coyote's old talk show of the similar mindset: Outside the box
