Irbene, Latvia for the first impression is a beautiful landscape with a lot of green pinetree and an early spring view. Very few people are living here. Every to whom I've met are ideally calm and slow. For the first view that can be the ideal place for living. But the road from Mikeltornis to Irbene is too narrow, too artificial. That is the first sign what makes you feel that there has to be something hidden here. The place has a confused secret, something to hide. While talking to people you feel the tension. The military spying complex is transparent now, everybody can visit. Than where is the source of this tension? The workshop of mine has to figure the story behind the tension. Anyway journalists adore hidden stories and secrets. I like the place and the participants of my workshop. Almost all of them are as curious as me. And they are well developed in skills like shooting, making photoes and building connections to people. The area is ideal for the Island Creative Quaranteen's workshops. There is a lot of thing to build from the mixing of the topics, Power, Control, Privacy and Transparence with Irbene as a location, a residence and as a radioastronomy center. I'm impressed to be here. The goal of my workshop is to investigate the influence of the antenna on the residents of Ventspils. During this workshop there will be searched for three generations of locals, for example a grandmother, a daughter and a grandson. They will be asked about how living nearby the antenna has influenced their lives; how did they realise the existence of the antenna and its purpose, does the antenna affect their private live and so on. The results of these interviews will be combined in a text report, a photo display and a video report. Together they will form a composition of the lives of these people, which will be exposed in a specially made blog about the workshop.
