So we tried magic jack at my office. We are a sound design company for games, and couldn’t get normal phones in here due to our building manager being crazy.
My boss uses it fine, but his computer doesn’t do much in the way of intensive labor.
Mine…it freaked out on. At first was using my boss’ phone, and if I was doing anything other than calling and maybe using a browser, it sounded choppy as hell and was completely unusable. This is unacceptable as I need a phone to troubleshoot WHILE looking through massive game builds and audio software.
Before we understood the cause, though, we got a second magic jack and phone for my computer…we plugged it in, and now every bit of audio sounds like it’s playing at 2 bit. Not like 32k or 18k….2 bits. It’s the worst sound you’ve ever heard, and now I CAN’T WORK until I fix it.
Not looking for troubleshooting help here(I’m trying everything you could ever think of, trust me), just wanted to share my horror story and help others to steer clear of this shitty product.

I have had Guttermaxx products on my house for eight years and have recently had a problem with them getting clogged with pine needles. The company advertises they will clean the gutters if they ever clog. Here is where my problems begin, I have spoken to the company headquarters in Houston on four separate occasions and have been promised someone will be out to take of the problem; it has been 21 days since my first call and still no resolution. BEWARE DON’T PAY THE HIGHER PRICE FOR THIS PRODUCT THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND WHAT THEY SELL.

The speaker on the NB305 is extremely weak. Whenever I do anything on the netbook that really requires sound… like watching a movie or using Skype… I plug in external speakers.

Offshore fishing is certainly the best-loved hobby,there has to be many of areas for you to catch some striped bass throughout this area too think about using this sort of method, folks I’ve met in this general vicinity never have pointed out this kind of issue so i’m trying to find a way to capture much more. I HAVE PROBLEM WITH MY NB305, THE SPEAKER IS WORKING TO 100% AND I CAN’T HEAR. IT’S WORKING AS 5% O 10%, NO MORE THAN THAT, I HAVE TO BE TO 5 INCHES TO HEAR THE MUSIC O SOME. I CHECK ALL THE SOUNDS OPTIONS TO 100 % BUT NOTHING. I NEED SOME HELP ABOUT IT. I JUST HAVE MY NB305 FOR A WEEK.

MAGICJACK is a joke! Customer service is horrible, it’s basically only live chat and for 20 minutes they dance around my question. I asked for a phone number and the agent refused to give it to me, saying there wasn’t one. Now, come to find out there is! I saved my caht ID and will be calling tomorrow and I’m not even a customer yet! I haven’t hooked up my jack and I will be returning it tomorrow. BEWARE!!! Stay away from this phone service, everything about it so far is horrible and as I read mroe reviews, it seems many people agree! I was trying to save a few bucks by going this route and I can see that it wasa waste of time and energy. I will be signing up for Vonage online tomorrow..well worth the 25.99 a month!!

Same thing happened to me, I had it for over a year, I follow up on customer complaints for several companies so I make a lot of phone calls, no sales or telemarketing, these are our customers that want to be contacted, most days I do make over 50 calls which I didn’t realize was against their TOS. I had no idea about the call limit per day but after a year and after paying for a new 5 year plan they suspended me due to over usage! Why did they take my money and then shut down my calling ability? I got on live chat, tried to get some answers but they are trained to go by a script, they don’t answer questions, they just give you the text book answer that best fits your question, they wouldn’t answer my questions at all..kept giving me a phone number to call that didn’t work and isn’t working to this day..they have really bad customer service, they take your money and RUN. When I click reinstate service on my dial pad it just sends me to the site to renew and pay more money. WE just paid over $60 for nothing! Why do they care how many calls I make in one day? I have no limit on my house phone on how many calls I can make. I do think everyone should get together and file a class action law suit to keep them from ripping people off in this manner.
