The youngest son of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands may never wake from a coma. A tragic situation. But will the queen choose life and set her country on a different moral path? Her Majesty Beatrix, by the Grace of God, Queen of the Netherlands signed the Termination of Life on Request and Assisted Suicide Act on April 1, 2002.

Can't help recalling Thompson's Hound of Heaven, "All things betray thee, who betrays Me." A good reminder this Lent. Are we, too, betraying Our Lord?

UPDATE: Upon further reflection, wouldn't it be great if Beatrix would follow the holy example of Hedwig of Poland, Elizabeth of Portugal, Elisabeth of Hungary, and Margaret of Scotland. To whom shall we send this request? JPII? Edith Stein? Terri Schiavo?

Police have launched an investigation into doctors who offered to abortion babies because of their gender following an undercover Daily Telegraph investigation. - Telegraph

Is that the reason?” asked the doctor, who introduced himself as Dr Raj. “That’s not fair. It’s like female infanticide isn’t it?”

When the pregnant woman asked if he could put down a different reason for the termination, the doctor said: “That’s right, yeah, because it’s not a good reason anytime … I’ll put too young for pregnancy, yeah?”

The patient agreed, at which point Dr Mohan again said: “It’s common in the Third World to have a female infanticide.”

He then moved on to discuss the abortion process before asking the pregnant patient to book an appointment for the termination the following Monday or Tuesday.

Non-practicing Catholic, Glenn Beck, in Rome to met with Church officials regarding erosion of Religious Liberty in the United States and around the world.

Well good for him!

"This weekend, The Blaze has confirmed that Beck flew from Miami to Rome, where he had meetings with prominent Catholic Church leaders. In addition to holding discussions with them about important religious freedom issues, Beck also met with individuals from various countries to discuss the creation of an international Tea Party movement."

Government cannot mandate copay-free coverage of a widely-used service w/o increasing premiums for all. Stunning how many insist otherwise.

Birth control cannot simultaneously be an inexpensive expense to mandate to insurers AND too expensive for patients to buy themselves.

As a result, this mandate would coerce each and every individual Sister of Life to betray her religious vows. We will be forced to pay for “services” that attack human life and deny the truth and beauty of human sexuality. This would directly contradict our special religious vow to “to protect and enhance the sacredness of human life,” and go against everything we believe in and have devoted our lives to. To us, it would be comparable to a law requiring a spouse to violate their marriage vows — an unthinkable intrusion upon a sacred promise.

The letter was sent to the Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebilius, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis.

It was signed by Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning, who was joined by the attorneys general of Texas, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Maine, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Colorado.

Bruning and his fellow attorneys general said that they are “deeply troubled” by the mandate’s “unprecedented coercion of organizations and individuals to act contrary to their religious beliefs.”

**Ban on intermarriage with Protestants; repealed 1778
**Catholics barred from holding firearms or serving in the
**Ban on Catholics buying land under a lease of more than 31 years; repealed 1778.
**Ban on custody of orphans being granted to Catholics on pain of 500 pounds that was to be donated to the Blue Coat hospital in Dublin.
**Ban on Catholics inheriting Protestant land
**Prohibition on Catholics owning a horse valued at over £5 (in order to keep horses suitable for military activity out of the majority’s hands)
**’No person of the popish religion shall publicly or in private houses teach school, or instruct youth in learning within this realm’ upon pain of twenty pounds fine and three months in prison for every such offence.

So reports the Politico:

Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas may be taking a liking to this whole politics thing.

The Stanley Cup MVP, who snubbed President Obama last month and said it had "nothing to do with politics or party," took to his Facebook page today to weigh in on the president's decision to require employers, including religiously affiliated ones, to purchase insurance that covers birth control.

"I stand with Catholics in the fight for Religious Freedom," he wrote. Thomas then went on to quote the famous poem, "First they came..." about the failure to speak up during the rise of Nazi Germany.

Thomas's decision not to visit the White House with the rest of his team made big headlines. At the time, he said he chose not to go because he believes "the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberty, and Property of the People...This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country.

In a nutshell: Communists tried to make people of faith not exist in Nova Huta, Poland.

MSM tries to make the Pro-Life Movement not exist by censoring coverage of the annual March for Life.

Sursum Corda. I would add this interesting connection between Nova Huta and the March for Life. Nova Huta did build a church. In thanksgiving they gave their priest and leader, Karoly Wojtyla (now Blessed JPII) a monstrance which he in turn presented to Mother Angelica, foundress of EWTN, which annually broadcasts the March for Life.

Good work by Theresa Civantos of the Weekly Standard for following up with this youthful group from St. John Cantius in Chicago.

The most noticeable group at the March for Life came from the Chicago Catholic church St. John Cantius. Their high school youth group, “Crusaders for Life,” wore bright yellow hooded sweatshirts, held yellow balloons emblazoned with the word “Life,” and engaged the crowd with a constant stream of chants and songs. “We love babies, yes we do! We love babies, how ‘bout you?”

Brother Chad McCoy, a Catholic monk who works at St. John Cantius Church, helped coordinate and lead the group of nearly 250.

“Some people have very different ideas about how the March for Life should be conducted, and I respect those ideas,” he said. “We don’t want to be perceived as being out there partying.”

McCoy’s group seeks to channel the students’ youthful enthusiasm toward a greater cause.

“Our goal is really to reach out to the young people,” he said. “Young people are drawn to a cause that is fun, energetic, and joyful.” And because of the movement's idealism.

“Young people want to be heroes,” he said, “they want to be warriors. As we get older, we get jaded and say, ‘It doesn’t make a difference.’

Finally, found the video of Pastor Luke Robinson's address at the March for Life 2012 in Washington, D.C. He asks, "where is the president of change and hope"during this time of African-American abortion genocide?

How can we turn back when there are, when 60 percent of all African-American pregnancies in New York City ended in abortion? How can we be silent when 40 percent of the pregnancies in the Hispanic community in New York City was aborted?”
Rev. Robinson said that the large percentage of black babies who are aborted is a “tragedy,” and added: “Where is the president of change and hope? Where is Jesse Jackson? Where is Al Sharpton? Where is the NAACP? Where is the Black Congressional Congress--Caucus? And where for God’s sake is the voice of the African-American church and the pastor?
