Education is in the top priority list of US President Obama. To make education affordable, Obama is thinking about freeing up more cash for assistance through public funded loan providers and American Opportunity Tax Credit. The best part about tax credit is that it will make sure that initial $4,000 of a college education is going to be free and will cover more than two-thirds of the tuition cost. With Obama interested in making the tax credit completely refundable, students coming from low-income families will get more advantage out of it.

Elimination of six-page form

President Obama is working overtime to streamline the whole process of federal aid application. To accomplish this task, US government is going to get rid of the six-page form. Instead, students need to check a box on their tax forms. This will be a clear sign that all of their tax details could be used in order to evaluate the availability of financial aid.

Role of IRS

To evaluate aid, the family size and income would be gathered from the IRS. From there, students need to send in their name, phone number, address and release form to the IRS. Once you do that, form would be submitted to the Department of Education. With details in hand, Department of Education will decide whether you are eligible for tuition aid or not.

Pell Grant and Private Loan Programs

Obama will offer $25 million yearly in matching money for states to come up with Early Assessment Programs. With these programs, 11th graders can easily evaluate whether they are ready for traditional education or not. President Obama has already announced that there is going to be increase in the Pell Grant to $5,400 over the next two or three years.

There is a strong possibility that US government is going to get rid of the more costly private loan programs. In private loan programs, students need to pay high interest rates. This creates unnecessary pressure on the mind of students. Repayment schedule is also quite a big factor in private loan programs. Often, students are required to pay high monthly installments which they cannot afford.

Implementation of Obama tuition aid strategy

The implementation of President Obama tuition aid strategy is not going to be easy especially when one take into consideration the current economy state. In terms of statistic, at present over forty states have budget deficits. In other words, if the state does not have much to distribute, allocation of resources is going to be really difficult.

Grants and Scholarships

For students whose financial condition is not that good, getting an approval for grants and scholarship is very important. But the problem associated with grants and scholarships is that too many students are competing for a small number of grants and scholarships. To improve the situation, President Obama is in discussion with Department of Education to come up with a plan through which eligible students can get approval for grants and scholarships without any hassle. Application procedure for grants and scholarships is so complicated that students get really confused what they need to do.

Students interested in studying specialized courses are normally the one that struggles to get an approval for grants and scholarships. This is because of the simple reason that tuition costs of specialized courses are normally lot more in comparison to the conventional degree programs.

Education in today’s world is an expensive but worthwhile investment. Students have to first gravel to find school fees after which they still have to find money to purchase books for study. This however is about to change for many Florida college students as there is now a new initiative t reduce the cost of textbooks to Florida college students.

Florida State Book Drive

The Florida State University Board has commissioned a program in conjunction with the University Press of Florida and Orange Grove Text that will see several of the most popular textbooks used by Florida University students being placed online. Presently the program has 120 textbooks and scholarly papers posted online as a part of its pilot project to the response of both their systems and student reaction.

Objective of the Florida State Book Drive

It is the hope of the University Press of Florida to eventually place at least free 1600 titles online for Florida College students. In a statement University of Florida Press stated that this entrepreneurial partnership intends to test uncharted waters in the book publishing industry. They hope to eliminate the dependency of scholars on publishing companies who hold all the strings when professors try to get their research material out to their student population. Professors will also be able to edit their work as they progress with their work. Students of the educational schools will be able to access these materials with just the click of a button.

How Florida Free Textbook System Works?

Under this elaborate plan, Florida online book shops will allow students to go online and read all the textbooks they use for their normal coursework. They will be allowed to print parts or all of a downloaded book on their own. They also have the option of requesting a bounded copy of the same textbook at a significantly reduced price.

The theory behind the success of this proposition is that surveys have shown that 22% of students prefer not to read text material from a computer or laptop. In addition, while 33% said they did not mind reading from a computer screen they still preferred to read from the bounded full copy of a textbook rather than digital textbook and they would still purchase the discounted copy even though it was available online free. In addition, the cost of printing in small pieces may exceed that of the bounded full version.

In one case we saw a text titled Images of the Woman Reader in Victorian British and American Fiction” being sold for $60. Under the new Florida Free Book system, students can download the book free or request a bounded black and white copy for $29.50 or a color version for an additional $10.

Direct Benefit from Florida Free Book Program

Both authors and students are welcoming the Florida Free Book Program. According to reports the feedback from authors is that they will benefit from larger percentages when their books are sold under the Florida Free Book Program. A spokes person from the Orange Grove Press stated that the organization will pay royalties directly from all printed books sold under the program. Students will also enjoy the option of reading books online free and to be able to print only the sections they require. Online Students will also have access to Orange Grove’s immense storage of text, audio, video and illustrated resources.

Rolling up your sleeves and making it a DIY project for the entire family can put valuable savings towards your Christmas fund. This simple DIY project also allows you to detect scrapes and bumps you certainly would miss had you opted to go to a car wash.

5.	Self-Cleaning your Home:
By simple making house cleaning a DIY, you can save yourself at least $100 per month and this is for a helper’s visit of twice per month. If you are a heavy tipper, this cost could even be higher. DIY house cleaning can be fun. Just be imaginative and soon you will be proud of your personal achievements. DIY house cleaning also allows you to customize your surroundings and save money in the process.

6.	Doing Your Own Nails:
Women may find this offensive, but by simply making doing your own nails a DIY job, they can save themselves at least $400 per month. Not all of us are artistic, but with a little imagination and creativity, no one will be able to recognize that your nails were not professionally done. Forget about the profile of being seen at the most expensive salon, just bask in the savings that your DIY nail job has brought you.

7.	Exercise on Your Own:
Health club membership can be an expensive proposition. This can be averted by making your exercise routine your next DIY project. Exercising by yourself by running around the neighborhood, using the public park can save you anywhere from $40 to $60 per month. Exercise as a DIY job also allows you to meet new friends and breathe fresh air and opposed to the conditioned air used in health clubs.

When the president of the United States of America gave a ‘Back to School’ speech this year, he warned the children to be careful when using Facebook, the world’s biggest social networking website.

Nearly one-third of the employers use Facebook to check out about you before hiring you. So if you are going to post pictures of your ‘other ’side on this public network it might cost you your dream job and a fat pay check. So think before you act.

However there are so many little things you can do to protect yourself at Facebook. Most non-tech savvy people don’t understand these features. So, they are explained in simple terms to you below:

i) Make Different Lists of Persons

Whenever you add someone to your Facebook Contacts List, categorize them as Work, Family or Friends. Even Friends can be categorized as Acquaintances, for those you are not very close with and friends, for those whom you share a close relationship with. This is very important as then you can fix who will view what and who will not have access to your personal stuff.

ii) Settings of Privacy

At the top right corner, you have a tab called ‘Settings‘. Click this and you will get the option ‘Privacy Settings’. When you click on that, you can set who can see what on your Facebook profile. For example, when you set ‘Only Friends’, only your friends can view it, ‘My Networks and Friends’ allows anyone in your network to view it.

iii) Address and Phone Number

When you click on ‘Privacy Settings, in the ‘Settings’ button, you will come across a tab called ‘Contact Information’. Click on it. You can allow/ block people whom you want/ don’t want to view this information.

iv) Search

Sometimes you just don’t want others to catch you on Facebook especially some old disgusting school friends and nosy parkers from office. For this, you can click on settings on the main Facebook homepage. Then click ‘Search’. You then land on a ‘Search Privacy’ page where you can set who can find you on Facebook. You can click on ‘Friends of Friends’, ‘My Networks and Friends’ or ‘Only Friends’ depending on the level of privacy you want to maintain. Also you can control what will show up when your profile shows up in search.

v) Don’t Share Personal Information with unknown applications

There are umpteen numbers of quizzes and games on Facebook that can access your personal information and also your friend’s personal information. You can put a stop to this. Take the mouse over to ‘Settings’ tab and choose ‘Privacy Settings’ and click it. Then click ‘Applications’ and click on the tab that says ‘Settings’. Then you can choose what your friends can view and cannot view about you. This only sets for your friend’s applications. For the applications you are using, this is not applicable. So, it would be best to remove those ones you are not using.

These five steps can surely create a much better and safer environment for you to network and chill-out on Facebook.
